If you read the article at: http://www.bungie.net/News/Story.aspx?link=5B522E9E-A265-409E-9267-EB2EDCFD50B4
it says that you can contact whomever you pre-ordered off of and "upgrade" to the LE. Also, from what I read I thought that it was a tin case for the game, something that would hold the game box itself. You can only get the LE by pre-ordering it, I just hope it's not too expensive for us cheap-asses.

Here are some links to the front, back, and side views of the box:

Its great that Microsoft is doing this. The special edition of UT2004 was great.
I got a message on my machine today from the Gamestop I have Halo 2 preordered at, telling me about the limited edition. Its a great deal, and Im sure Halo 2 will sell millions on November 9.

I called up the EB that I pre-ordered Halo 2 at, and they have no idea that this is even going on. The guy tried to cram down my neck the "Limited Edition Halo Green Xbox Bundle!" for five minutes, then just told me to call when the manager comes in....on Thursday. I was hoping to get a jump on the pre-order line by calling in and changing my order around just like the article said, but no....I must wait longer...

Yeah, i hope that this special edition is just the Tin plus the non-se Halo 2 with its case inside the tin plus the dvd. the non-se case looks cool too.

Does anybody know for sure yet because I loved Halo's box art and I think this will be just as good.

I also called EB but they said that they already switched my preorder over to the LE one. Which kind of confuses me I want the LE one, but I didn't know that they could just switch it over without my consent. Oh well I think maybe he understood me and I'll probably go in later this weekend just to make sure I have the LE one, unless anyone else can verify that it happend to them too.

The person in my call from Gamestop said that I got a choice when I picked it up, but because I preordered they switched the preorder to the special edition.
so what's the chances of buying this for cheaper after release?
It will take a looooong time. Just look how long it took for Halo to pricedrop. And didn't somebody say if you do not preorder it you can't get the LE. Right.

well Places like frys doesn't do pre-orders, I wonder how much they will sell it for. I can seem them selling the game for 45 or even less. Frys loves to drop the price on a really hot item to bring tons of people to it's store.

Actually frys does do preorders if it has a companion disc. I remember i bought rebel strike and it was 10 dollars toward the purchase

I went ahead and bit the bullet. Gamestop, $54.95, free 2 day shipping.

I don't think I've paid that much for a game since the SNES/Genesis days...

But it's going to be worth it. Oh...so...worth it...

I'll probably due the unthinkable and pay full price for this also.

I'll get one of each (2 xboxes and frequent linked gaming days).

I see their standard coupon code for free ground shipping for pre-orders but where's the 2 day one...? EBgames has free 2 day air but I'd rather go with Gamestop as they don't charge tax everywhere.
It was on one of the banners at the top of the Halo 2 LCE page...refresh a few times and it should show up.

If not:

ah...I don't always see banners as I have images turned off most of the time...runnin' at 26 k here....thanks for the link...
damn but wouldnt u want to get this first day!!!!! 2 day air means u wont get it till 1-3 days after it ships?
Normally, I'd agree with you, but a one-to-three day wait after waiting three years for Halo 2 is a small price to pay to be guaranteed an LCE and have it delivered.
if I preorder this at ebgames.com will my credit card get charged right away or will it get charged when it's ready to ship?
Not until it gets shipped.

They really are bastards, OF COURSE, this gimmick is going to make a shitload of more money! God knows how many people have already pre-ordered the game, upgrade for $5, sure why not!?! Next thing you know you'll only be able to get the game with the LE for a pre-order, because there simpily won't be any in stock. But then again what am I saying, I'm spending my extra 5 like everyone else on this board.

by switching everyone over the the LE, thier making it so at least a few will be for regular sale. not everyone will want the upgrade

i remember when i preordered my PS2, i just checked regular ground shipping, but they sent it to me next day, maybe they'll do the same for halo 2?

if i remember correctly GTA3 was the same way.
Actually frys does do preorders if it has a companion disc. I remember i bought rebel strike and it was 10 dollars toward the purchase
you know what ? Your right they do. I remember them having like 500 pokemon collector coins in the gameboy section selling for 99 cents. But that just shows you how many the order and how few people pre-order

ii had a regular pre ordered. at my local EBgames....ii just pre ordered a LE off ebgames.com seperate and used in store pickup.........then i can pick em both up same day its released i talked to the guy at EB he said that in store pickups get to store same day game is released

Usually eb gets things 1 day after I get them via overnight. (usually through a free overnight) If you really want it fast overnight air is the only way. I think ive even got some games before street date. I wouldn't worry about the 2 day air cause you'll endup with the game about the same time eb gets it. Its not like eb gets the game november 1 and holds it for 8 days.

I bit that bullet too. :(

Been ages since I bought a game in full. :(

Bit the bullet too. I am a sucker for anything limited edition. the last game I bought for full price was Vice City. I actually waited for it for about 4 hours. What a DOPE! never again. Preorder and deliver it to my door.

Wow, this Limited Edition sure is bringing out the worst in us cheapasses. I preordered it yesterday too, something I pretty much NEVER do. In fact the last time I payed full price for a game that wasn't a gift was...well, I can't even remember. I don't think I've ever pre-ordered a game, except for Steel Battalion since you were required to (yeah, a bit contradictory since I'm a cheapass, but at least I got it for cheaper than the retail price :)).
