HALO 2(Limited Edition) for 37.99 at ecost.com!

Anyone ever use ECOST.com? Seems like a GREAT deal. Do they charge your credit card rigth away or wait till it ships?

That would be great to save almost $20 though...
 
I used them once to buy a remote control. The product was in stock as they claimed and shipped out right away without any issues. They didn't charge my card until it shipped.

I'd say the place is legit, but like all places, YMMV depending on their ability to get their hands on the game come November.
 
Actually it's on sale for 33.99. I just got mine for 37.94 including the 3.95 handling fee. Thanks for the deal guys. This is much better than overstock's deal since you can actually cancel them if you find a lower price somewhere else before November.

It says Xbox right in the item description. Also, they haven't even announced a PC/Mac version of Halo 2.
 
I got in at the $33.99 price too. Ecost is actually pretty reliable for those that are holding out. I've placed a few orders with them in the past for electronics and have never had a problem. Never purchased games though.

As far as this deal is concerned, I think because it is part of the bargain countdown, the later you wait, the cheaper it gets. It looks like the countdown just restarted, that's why it's back at $39.99.

I've got a preorder at EB, but I'll be cancelling once this ships.

People who have bad experiences give low numbers to sites like that. People who have GOOD experiences almost never give ratings, so the numbers are usually pretty skewed.

Anyway, nice deal. I would have jumped on this if I hadn't used my $20 EB coupon from buying UT2k4 on it.

Nor would the use of the terms that you listed in caps. Many of us communicate in different ways. Most important is that we are understood and that we tolerate such a minor difference as "homie" Do you also consider "dude", "guy", "jack", and/or "man" uncivilized? I consider it unfortunate that you feel that being a dumbass could be related to using the word "homie"

I clearly see that as attempt to ridicule. Add that to the fact that you wrote, "and talk like a civilized person". If caps were the issue, why not restrict your comment to that?

while I am aware that all caps are considered impolite, I think that standard is arbitrary. I would find unneccesary screaming to be rude, but virtual screaming doesn't bother me at all. One of the things that does bother me is when we use other peoples differences against them. And please don't get it twisted. I don't believe that any and everything is okay, but I do believe that speaking differently is harmless, as long as that person can be reasonably understood.

whether on the internet or not, fighting is rarely beneficial for either party. two or more people discussing a difference of opinion or perception can be very useful. a discussion is an exchange of opinions not a fight. internet or not, what does it matter? in many areas the internet is a superior place to have a discusion. one of them is, you can't be interrupted, or interrupt, which makes you "listen" to the other person(s). do you believe that a fight or discussion is worthwile only if it is not on the internet.

Ha. That's been a favorite quote of mine for about a year now.
 
Hey, has anybody heard how the metal cases actually *work*? I mean, is this a metal slipcase or a metal tin? If it's a tin, do we have some POS acordian cardboard thingy inside, that I have to unfold, that the DVDs snap to? (Couldn't you imagine them putting them in two of those paper sleeves, just loose in there? Ah!!!) I'm sure whatever it will be will be "nifty" and all, but I like to pop open my case, snap my disc out, and snap it shut. I don't like having to open the tin, pull out this lump of cardboard, unfold, unclick disc, refold cardboard, put back in tin, snap shut. (e.g. Lord of the Rings Extended Version cases; love 'em, but they're also not something I dig out every single day.)

I'm holding off on pre ordering until I find out more on how this deluxy thing works. If it's too "loose" (too many seperate parts that aren't a single unit, but fit inside each other), I'll just get the plain green case, sans the bonus disc.

Usually tin cases have a single cd rigid plastic case and form fitted plastic tray. I would assume halo 2 will be the same. I doubt it will change but they may go with that perma foam stuff (like they use in some notebook cases) regardless don't expect the game to have the green dvd case.

It may ship with a slimline case which would altogether be a better venture for microsoft.
 
I just checked it out and the price is back to $43.00! Uggh. Oh well. Maybe the price will go down as the countdown gets lower. There is still over 3 days left now. Or maybe the price changes because each quantity is actually from a different source? i.e. the last quantity was from a distributor that wanted 33.99 and this is from one that wants $43.00? Besides why would the price go down the further into the countdown? As supplie diminishes and the time runs out wouldn't the price get higher?
 
Ohh, and I forgot. I have bought something from eCost before. I got my linksys wireless router G w/ speed booster from them for I think 69.99. It came pretty fast too.

I placed an order for Halo 2 LE from eCost back on July 2nd, I came back to check on the order status and found it was "Canceled by the Customer" 5 days ago! I called eCost and found out that their computer systems aren't really designed for taking preorders and automatically cancels what the computer precieves as a backorder (after a lengthly period of time).

The good news is when I called eCost's customer service line, they seemed aware of the issue. They re-activated my order AND removed the handeling fee. So now my net cost is $37 even!

Just a word to warning to any fellow CAGers whom may have placed an "preorder" from eCost, check your order status and verify that your order isn't canceled!
