The "whole shabang" won't be free until the end of summer, not june...So pay up. :whistle2:D

i dont care how much it costs come on like 3 bucks a map whats the point of waiting, its like waiting for some food prices to go down when your hungry now, tommaros bread from today is cheaper oviously

I plan on picking up a used copy of the disk, even if I get high speed internet, so I can let my friends download the maps when we have LAN parties.

I wish they would have released them all at the same time for free, but I guess Bungie got created into money hoes.

hey man money hoes is too rough, creating a board in unreal is damn near impossible, trust me, which brings up another book recomendation

im pissed it costs money, but two are free to start, and there going to eventually be free, and we have mountain dews generous donations to Bungie to thank for that, so expect to have two types of code red during those new maps, a emergency, and a refreshing sperm count lowering drink

Maybe money hoes was too rough, but I could have sworn that they pormised to release all DLC for free.

Now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure your right.

A) Noone ever said they would all be free.

B) Bungie themselves have nothing to do with the pricing of the maps. They're the developers, not the publishers. If you wanna bitch, bitch to MS.

I knew a thread like this would get dicey, I have to agree that I want the maps and will unfortunatly have to shell out the money to the bitches ( I my opinion Microsoft not Bungie ) I have said this before Ninja Gaiden's FREE Hurricanes are the best DLC yet, that being said Bungie/Microsoft are going to take some heat for charging people money for DLC.

Yeah, I'll probably pay for the maps too. I wonder if you can transfer them via memory card or not? It would be a good way to "back up" the new maps. I have two XBOX's and would not want to pay twice

Uhhhh...yes...they all will be free at the end of summer.

http://bungie.net/News/TopStory.aspx?story=maptacular&p=2747963

last bullet point in the first section:

"By late summer, ALL the maps will be available for free."

Those that are impatient can pay for the maps. I for one will wait and play with my free ones.

Just buy the map pack for $20 and have it on disk forever.

Well, I was thinking for dishonest means of transferring to memory card....like sharing with friends :)

Plus, why should I pay pay $20 for the disc, if I pay $5.99 for the first 2 maps....

I'll end up paying almost $30 for maps.

the maps will be 18 in total for those with XBL... IMO, thats really good... thats like getting a second game for 18... or an expansion pack.

The first 2 maps are free. No pricing has been established for the individual maps (from what I read so far) - so, it's feasible that each map added up would equal $20.

Okay I just have a REALLY n00b question here. On XBL, how do you choose what board you play on? I only really play it on LIVE when I have friends over, so I'm not even sure if it's possible (i know that guest accounts put some limitations on your options). I tried looking in the manual but it didn't really make sense to me. I try to read up on it but I just see all this stuff about "playlists" that I dont' really understand.

Because I was just thinking, it would be annoying to buy these new levels, and then I never even get to use them. I feel like 90% of the games I play on LIVE are on Ascension or Lockout. I'm guessing I probably just need an explanation of how the whole "playlist" system works.

The maps you get are random unless you're playing a custom game, then you can choose. The 2 free maps at the beginning will be added because everyone on Live can get them. The ones that you have to pay for will have special rooms (or something similar) where the ones who buy it can play for some specified time (I think I read a month). The others will not be added presumably until they are all free at the end of summer.

If I'm wrong anyone, please let me know.

Yeah, I never though of that. I know there are some boards that are ONLY played on BIG-TEAM battles (more than 8 players....9-16)

Now, if these new maps are ONLY for those, I would hesitate to buy them, since I usually play Team Slayer 4 vs 4.

Unless they make a BIG team slayer....that would be ideal. Then, when 5 or 6 of us are online from my clan, we can play slayer, and not hold the ball.

I plan on picking it up the day it comes out, then I'll just pass it around to all my friends and have them cough up like $2 for all 9 maps and it will pay itself off + I'll have the maps.

I'll just get the free ones off of LIVE then buy the disc. Bungie has waited so long to release maps and cheat fixes. Most of the 80+ people I know on LIVE aren't even playing this game anymore. I'm sure some will come back after this comes out. Its just the idea the game has been out for months without any updates. Even a playlists update would have been nice. I remember something about the playlists being "easy to change" as part of the whole matchmaking implementaion.

Those maps look sweet though. I'd gladly pay for maps if I knew a new one would be released every month.
