Halo 2 on Vista redists\vcredist.msi issue

sendme

CAGiversary!
I have wanted to play Halo 2 again but playing it on the 360 sucks when it comes to the emulation on the system. So I bought it for the PC. Now when I try to install it on Vist SP2 as the admin I get this message.

Everywhere I look people just say they fixed it or to click on the file and run as admin yet vcredist.msi does not give me the option to run as admin.

I never thought about that but would I have to do that every time I wanted to play the game?

EDIT: Tried it and it did not work. I set it in the tab to run as admin and all the windows options told me I had to run the game on vista or 2003 server. I was unable to install it when I changed it to 2003 server also.

What's your specs?

This is the game specs -

Microsoft® Windows® Vista
2 GHz or faster processor
1 GB of system RAM
7 GB available hard disk space
NVIDIA 6100, ATI X700, or above

You were suggested to run it in compatibility mode. But Vista is the OS it was made for so???

Here is something I found out of curiosity.

finally got the problem solved guys, heres how i got passed that annoying vcredist error. 1. go to services. 2. set "Windows Modules Installer", "Windows Installer" and "Secondary Logon" to manual and start all three of those services on. then install Halo 2! worked for me, good luck! :)

There are 2 other solutions on there also.

I have done the windows modules installer, windows installer and secondary logon. Called Microsoft and they couldn't even get it running. The guy said he had to talk to some people and find out and I should get a call back in the next 24-48 hours. This was last night around 8:30.

As for my pc it is a Dell XPS 420 and meets all the requirments. Hell I even have an ati 5750 in it. So I know I can run it.

Oh, I'm going to have a fun time getting this game to work when I get it.

Is this a Vista fail? or a Game port fail? Maybe both?

I would get my money back.

The first Halo for PC was a horrible port as well. I had the hardware at the time to run F.E.A.R on full settings, and I couldn't get Halo to run at a reasonable framerate at a resolution over 640x480.

Well got it work some what. Had to get microsoft on it and ended up having bad c++ fuiles. Now when I go to log in all I get is could not connect to live password or username not correct. The odd thing is all over live programs that use that same account work with the username and password. I even downloaded games for windows live and that username and password work for it but not in the game. Any ideas.
