And there is an unofficial patch you can download so you can play it on XP instead of everyone's "favorite" OS, Vista. This is a link to it taken directly from Falling Leaf's website (since they went under, they never did it themselves) - http://halo2xp.tk/

Last but not least - go here to see if your computer can run it - http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest
Does that patch let you play it online?
Of course, you need to pay for a windows live account though if you pay for xbox live though you can just use that account, same thing.

What PC games have you been playing?

Everything but MMORPG's are free online.

Windows Live accounts are free...you just can't get online achievements without paying, which isn't a big deal.

Almost tempted but need some input: Is this choppy/laggy like Halo 1 was? IE the animations seemed to "skip" when it came to the campaign mode, and even online it didn't seem smooth at all. Wondering if Halo 2 is the same way.

I own all Halos for the XBox and 360, but was gonna grab the first two on PC when they hit $10, and this is almost at that price.

Im waiting for $10, still. $10 is worth it just to have people freak out when tehy see Halo 2 on your achievements list.

That to... lol.

I suck so bad at Halo 3 I swear I was better in Halo 2. I'll never reach level 45 or 50 at this rate, atleast till bungie addresses team slayer leveling in the next couple of weeks, but I'll probably be playing too much Vegas and Brawl.

Seeing as this has been $25 several times on go gamer, and now $15 I think I'll hold off for that $10 price point.
WRONG. You can still play this game online for free, its just that you wont have ranks or stats.
Still a bit upsetting consider other games provide the same for free.

If Microsoft has any say in the PC industry then It's only a matter of time before you'll have to pay to play all your online games online. Bandwidth isn't free you know, even if most of the services are P2P ;)

Any wired 360 controller will work on the PC. You can also use the wireless version and just buy the Wireless Extender for $20.
Microsoft has purposely sabotaged PC gaming as far as I'm concerned.
I agree. They talk like they care, but their actions show they're trying to kill it (no licensing fees like on the X-Box).

Every other company has no problems releasing games at the same time on PC as other platforms-but not Microsoft. They went from being one of the biggest, best publishers, to almost being nonexistent on their own platform.

The industry talk I keep hearing is Microsoft's going to have to give up on the idea of a pay-online service sooner or later for the 360 too. I'm still kind of surprised people will actually pay for a glorified instant messaging service.

i dont think they will give up on pay online service completly. chances are they will go with a free add supported model versus an add free model. that way they can still offer free online gaming to those who cant afford it and then to thse who want the extra bells and whistles and add free play they will pay for the gold servcie or whatever it is they decide to call it. and in paying for it you probably get to have more friends and what not.

Live has already hit 8 million users. Why would they give up? People also pay a ton for DLC, Halo 3 for example passed one million map downloads in what, two weeks?

Wow, you couldn't be more wrong.

The reason people pay for XBL is because it is fun. If XBL didnt have a yearly fee, and if the premium didnt come with a headset, then it would be a less immersive service, and resemble the weak-sauce online multiplayer of the Wii.

Industry people have been saying for quite a while that Live's pay model is unsustainable. I don't really know or care one way or the other, but when Game Theory's people start saying that...

Huh? How does paying for it make it less like the Wii's service? And what does coming with a headset have to do with whether you pay for it? And how does paying for it make it more immersive?
Does this game have achievements? If so, do they add to ur Xbox live gamertag
All Games for Windows games that say LIVE on the cover have Achievements, and they do add to and appear on your Gamertag. See Kane & Lynch on my card... never played it on 360.
