I was thinking the other day about how there are no announcements for games coming out late 2005 for the Xbox, and how is very, very possible there will be an "Xbox 2" (or Xenon or whatever) by holidays 2005. (Nov. 9 perhaps?)...
Anyways, the point of all this is asking what do you think the support for Halo 2 will be (both from gamers and Microsoft)? Keep in mind that most people who play Xbox Live have the willingness and $$ to go out and buy the new system right away or very close to release date. I have recently read (probably on EGM) that M$ reps have said that while hardware might change the Xbox Live service will continue the same ( impliying that if you pay for a whole year on October and Xenon comes out Nov, you get your whole year of service on the new console). Do you think there will be a Halo 2.5 revision for the new console, a whole new game, or compatibility so you can keep playing Halo 2 online with the new console.... is it possible for someone playing the game on Xbox 2 to join people playing on Xbox? Sort of what Square Enix did with FFXI and PS2 and PC gamers...
I hope the community remains strong for this game after the possible release of the new console later this year. Whatever M$ decides to do will affect the Clan and the community in general... what do you guys think?

I think the release date of all next gen systems will be pushed back and delayed.

Halo 2 support/love will continue strong for at least another year and a half...look at CE's success.

Live for xbox will continue, but I doubt cross generation play will be possible unless some sort of backwards compatibility is included in the new box.
 
I'm thinking if you own a Live account, you can use it on both the Xbox and Xbox 2. Halo 2 will continue very strongly until the now rumored "2.5" comes.

Anyways, i also think the nextbox/xbox 2/box 2/dos package/microsoft money making game system that as a brick thing/the next generation xbox will come out this holiday season and supposedly the next xbox will be live compatible

So if there is no Halo 2.5, what do you think is going to happen to the community on the game right now come fall 2k5... will the players drop dramatically? I just hope M$ doesn't pull all support of Xbox and Bungie to give it to Xbox 2. I guess we'll have to wait for E3, and see if M$ discloses their business plan for the next gen...
 
well seeing as that I am poor. I can guarantee you that if I have enough money to pay for Live I'll still play with you on the Xbox 1 version

a lot of people will drop, yes, probably to play perfect dark zero (like microsoft wants). they'll still support the community though, i wouldn't worry about that.
 
I'm actually looking forward to the launch. Then, all the cheaters, griefers, and not-as-serious players will disappear and we'll be left with the hardcore crowd.
