After seeign several posts like Halo 3- 2006 confirmed, but not much on Halo 3 itself, I figured I'd start this thread. Discuss what you think Halo 3 will be like, and if we get information on it, post it.

For my money, it had better not be another Halo 2. Don't get me wrong, but it was buggy and felt incomplete. I bet Halo will be a trilogy, so I figure that Halo 3 will just be the bookend for the series, with a possible open end for unofficial additions to the story. Like Star Wars.

Anyway, I wonder if they'll introduce a new gameplay element to Halo 3, somewhat like how they implemented dual-wielding into Halo 2. I personally hope that they make the vehicles for like Halo 1 in that they were much more floaty, an element which I liked. I Halo 2, they felt pressed to the ground, and much more jerky. One of my favorite moves in Halo was flipping Ghosts off of scorpions.

This is just a pipe dream, but I'd love to see them incorporate a crawl feature into the game where people could lay flat on the ground, or crawl under something and snipe from there.

I have confirmed that there will be dual sword wielding and you can use the Jackel shields now for safety and one-hit beatdowns. It works similar to an overshield, but doesn't constantly go down unless it is being damaged.

More info as it is confirmed.

Argh, you beat me to it.

Comfirmed that you will be able to choose different characters in multiplayer for example: Jackel, Brute, Grunt, Flood, etc...

You guys will get the news first, as soon as I get it from my source.

Kick ass. I've always wanted to have a character select. Although it would be difficult to play as a Grunt, you could have the option of setting up turrets, repairing, ect, as well as being able to man the turrets like Elites.

Flood would be interesting, but the only reason that I would want to play as Flood is relative sniper immunity. And the possibility of kamikazi suicide attacks, Carrier-style.

New 64 man Multiplayer only availible on midship and beaver creek.

Speculation, fool. Besides, we don't know yet. So hah. I still think it would be cool.

Ok. Halo was awesome. Halo 2 was.....well eh. Halo 3 will just be overkill unless they can revamp the story modes and make it longer and more fun or interesting. But MS knows that they can make the game because of all the hype that it will get and it i sure to be a top-seller no matter what kind of game it is

10 people will buy Halo 3 based on its campaign/single player mode. The millions of others will get it for the multiplayer.

True

I except Halo 3 to be the setup for another 5 games as they keep milking the franchise. :)

Seriously, I doubt this will be the end though I'd hope for a more definitive ending than that of Halo 2. I'd like some sort of online coop and at least 32 player support.

Adding some type of gametype with Pelicans and bigger maps would be cool. Also, the Flood should be a character type that can be used in a built in Zombies gametype. Oh, I'd like to have the option to join random games though the matchmaking should stay as is.

All I want in Halo3 is a couple new weapons, A few more multiplayer maps, a bit of a touch up on the graphics to fix some of the issues Halo2 had. And the BIG thing I want is a 10x Better story then Halo2, I would also really love to see them start bridging the gap between Halo and Marathon and maybe intruduce some of the Old Marathon badguys into Halo. Man that would be sweet. Seeing juggernauts fly around and Compilers poping up. *drool*

You know what bothers me about Halo 3? How long have they've had to work on it. They have a concrete release date (PS3 launch day), which means no flexibility, which also means they have to get it right immediately. Look at how long it took to develop Halo 1, and then Halo 2 (which Halo 2 has some faults that could have been fixed with a little polishing).

Maybe I'm talking out of my ass on this one, but I recall some interview with Bungie after Halo 2's release with them saying "our next game will not be Halo 3".

I'm not big on speculation, but I've yet to play a good rushed game. I own alot of them though, thanks to CAG and clearance sales :)

I love the contrast between the seriousness of the OP's initial question and the nearly 100% sarcastic responses from everyone else! Good stuff.

My thoughts are a rail based light gun shooter, with primarliy cel shading, and a soundtrack akin to the Dynasty Warriors game

Change the story, Get new types of multiplayer games, more vehicles, more weapons, and maybe they could make it where you could add a weapon on a weapon, for example a beam sword rocket launcher? or a plasma grenade shooting smg?

shit bungie could make a game called "Halo Puzzle" it could be Snood or Bust-A-Move with halo characters and it would sell like crazy still.

i want to see the atv that they couldn't get to work in halo 2, they also need to finish this one, Half life 2 was finished and it took years, halo2 was rushed. halo 2 could have eaisly been a great game, if they had more time. so they better get to work now,

I agree. i think i would be cool to be able to ride a four wheeler. but it would really only be like a human ghost.

I think it would be cool to make a huge game type where its fulll of tons of ppl and u could have pelicans to transport up to 10ppl to the fighting ground and stuff.

Here's something I jacked from /. (http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=59698) :

Some new rumours about the third instalment in the Halo series are doing the rounds, thanks to some bloke who claims his mate's uncle works for Bungie. [As the always-enjoyable Kotaku notes, "Yeah, it's that reliable." - Ed]

According to his post on the Team Xbox message board, Halo 3 will have a "darker and more gritty" storyline, though there's thankfully no mention of urban settings or gangster turf wars as yet. The opening scenes are set "thousands of years before the timeline of the original Halo: Combat Evolved", apparently.

We're told that Bungie is "attempting to maintain an online co-operative component for the campaign supporting more than two players at once," and that Halo 3 "will have a multiplayer mode which pits players against bots in scenarios that are directly connected to the story of the game." They're aiming to support more than fifty players on Xbox Live for certain maps, too.

Zanzibar, Sidewinder and Hang Em High will be available in multiplayer mode, but "completely reworked. Zanzibar will be mangled and torn apart as though after the battle, the sky will be dark red. Sidewinder will have four legs instead of just two, with bases at each end. Hang Em High will have a massive tree at its center and the structure will be deteriorated."

The poster also says that Bungie is working on a map editor and movie maker for the game, so you can send and receive maps and movies via Xbox Live. "This would apparently be on a separate disc, and they have an entire team working just on these projects." Gosh.

He adds that he "can't confirm" whether or not these rumours are true, since he's just taking his mate's word "at face value." Hrm. Microsoft was unavailable for comment.

There's no official release date for Halo 3 as yet, but none other than Bill Gates himself has has previously suggested it'll be out next spring, to coincide with the launch of the PS3. We'll keep you posted.

master cheif will pull a samus aran. the cheif will remove "his/her" helmet at the games climax to reveal its actually Winnona Ryder, who then breaks into her famous ping pong ball trick.
