I'm calling bullshit on that Collector's Edition. It sounds to me like something a Halo fanboy wrote so he'd have something to fap to
if you're talking about the 4 dvds, well i cant confirm that
Hold X to put your weapons to your side and sprint, probably not though
Im thinking so aswell, becasue bungie almost put that in halo 2.

Eh, Bungie fucked up with Halo 2, they have a lot to prove with Halo 3. Sorry to hurt your feelings about Halo and Bungie, but just don't get your hopes up kid. I know I know we still have a long way to go, but hey isn't that what they said about Halo 2? Get where im going with this? I don't really care, i'll just end up being called a troll, but here's hoping Halo 3 turns out good.
Legendary Edition of Halo 3 - It will come with a full size (!) replica of the Master Chief’s helmet
Like I need more useless crap.

As for the game, I'm not very impressed yet. The Spiker looks hot, and so does the laser... in a way. But that's just 2 new guns. Whoopedy doo, expansion pack FTW. Hell, I'd buy it, I love Halo, but I'd like to hear more before I get excited.

Looks pretty cool, gotta play any variety of games before it comes out though... it will suck up my game time when it comes out

I want the legendary edition, now. Like right now, I want it. Remember when we all thought PS3 and Halo 3 were coming out in March 2006? lol

Wow, the Legendary Edition sounds like what a CE/LE should be like. The bust from those pics of Master Chief's helmet look great (if that's what it is). I'm surprised they have figured out what is going to be included in the packaging over a year before it's supposed to be released (I'm sure it's subject to change, though).

To the people who are calling Halo 3 a Halo 2.5, I think you people have a warped memory of Halo 2. It really didn't look as good as you remember, and Halo 3 is indeed a huge fucking jump.

Well, inorder to make dvds about making the game, maybe they decided to do real time?

Halo 3... do I give a shit about it? No.

Will it be a playground for highschoolers and middleschoolers? Yes.

Will I get it? Yes, but strictly so I can socialize with my cousin a bit more than I have been.

I hope this is as unbalanced as Halo 2. It made the struggle just that, a struggle. Victory wasn't taken easily if your enemy had all the weapons. Superior tactics were needed to prevail. Halo 1? Big deal, anyone could be taken out with a magnum which your were spawned with. In Halo 2 it is/wasn't that easy to take someone out of power.

“A lot of people ask us about bots. They think that the AI in Halo was pretty damn good, and would work well in MP as well, but it’s really not that simple. The enemies in Halo are optimized for encountering the player in large numbers. They would be a lot worse at abstract thought AI like ‘I have to defend my flag’ and so forth. In short, to create bots for Halo would be an immense undertaking, and we rather put that time into making new levels, weapons and netcode.” –Jaime Griesemer
That's a BS reason not to include bots, since the people who create levels, weapons, and the netcode would not be the ones programming the bots.
Thats what it looks like. Besides the new vehicle it looks just like Halo 2. Cant even tell if it is updated graphically. I'm sure it is, but it doesn't show it.
For someone who wants a system based entirely on graphics, you sure can't see worth a shit.

For fuzzy pics with unfinished textures, those screens look spectacular.
looks awesome, as expected. Don't mind the PS3 fanboy.. let him go play resistance:FOM.. lol.

I think i remember reading that this build didn't have a lot of shadows, normal mapping, or HDR lighting integrated yet. Those effects make a huge difference. I really like how big the multiplayer maps are looking, maybe we'll see an increase in player size? Let's hope lockout returns, or we get a few more good smaller maps for 2vs2. I'm eager to see what the new control scheme is too, hopefully the X button will finally get us that sprint. It'll be needed with these new larger maps. Walking Across relic or coagulation was a real chore in halo 2, and made you an easy sniping target. Sprinting could help alleviate some of that.
32 players is what the ysaid they are aiming for (halo2 was going to have 32) and I hear tell the X will be 'Cover' but I doubt it

Halo pistol was M6D pistol, not the M6C "magnum" in Halo 2. Although I do agree with you that the pistol in CE is actually easy to use, we are outnumbered. The majority thinks it's the uber weapon and YOU MUST HAVE SKILL to wield it. If these people were so observative and l33t, they would have realized that the walking speed in Halo was about 60%, if not half, of Halo 2. That's why if you are seen first and shot at first (with the pistol), death usually followed. All you had to do was make sure the reticule is red and aiming for the head helps but shooting the ass was equally effective (try it).

I think being able to amount many kills in a short amount of time (versus that of Halo 2 in which it was easy to run for cover and fully recharge life) that leads people to think that the pistol is somehow high-class.

For Halo 3, I hope the running speed is toned down. It just didn't feel right running around so fast. It was safer to keep running than to look for cover and counterattack. THe subtle details need to return as well. Halo, whenever you change between rifle and pistol, MC takes off the safety and cocks the pistol, not mention the cool compass and ammo count on the rifle. In Halo 2, there's the animation of taking out the gun and that's it. And please, I hope MC dies this time if he happens to fall from a certain height.

It is funny that there are people complaining about the graphics in a PRE ALPHA build of the game. I guess Bungie really should have waited.

In their defense, Halo 3 doesn't look like the trailer right now.

Actually, I go where the games are.

I don't really feel like arguing about it though, so just forget I said anything about it.

I just don't want more Halo 2 that's prettier and a few more added things... I want it where I can say "Wow, i've never seen this done online! Who knew they could do this?"... that would win me.

Well, you're gonna be disappointed then. It's Halo 3(a sequel to Halo 2), not an entirely new IP. It's going to build upon an almost perfect foundation.

If you want something entirely new, look elsewhere.

no suprise really. While everyone enjoys Halo 3, I'll be too busy still playing DoAX2 still even after X years.

Man awesome... these graphics look really good. Weird thing is...nothing seems to interest me for Xbox consoles except for Halo... well and maybe Assassins Creed when it comes out, but thats for PS3 as well I believe =/

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but they say that your secondary weapon will be visible on your back. So is that just for the purpose of the people know what else you have, or could there possibly be a third person option?

There's no way there could be a 3rd person option if you ask me. I'm sure it's just for detail they wanted to put in, and that people know what else you have.

I was thinking GRAW style. Either a 1st person or like an over the shoulder 3rd person.

I really dont see the 3rd person option, that would just open another comparison between GoW and H3.

I personally, see that Collector's Edition as being more prestigious then the Assassin's Creed one that i was so eagerly anticipating.

I can understand the Helmet, but damn all of those DVD's..are you serious?
I can honestly see this collectors edition pushing $200..
The question being..Would i Buy it? hell yeah.

I can openly admit i am a complete fanboy to this game, but the true reason behind it, is simply because it's the only game that Me and my Father will sit down and play together for hours and just have a great time. That is my true reason for loving this series...and My dad will appreciate this information greatly. It will also be easier on my wallet since he will go halfsies:)

Other then that i don't really know what else to say...It sounds like it's going to be fucking huge like Halo 2 was. But then again, I guess it deserves it's attention. The game is actually kinda hella fun to play with a lot of people.

I would hate that and I dislike the news of 32 players online. Also dont expect and dedicated servers as tehy are trying to make a better netcode, UGH! I like the halo 2 system inwhich 8 palyers in teamslayer works perfectly. I dont want large as maps (i.e. zanzibar is the smallest) and 16 players, im not a big team kinda guy.

There is a first person view in the pictures someone posted, which also depicts one of the new weapons and you can't see his back, so don't look for GRAW style view here.

1up will be spending 3 weeks with Halo 3 supposedly. You can go here to check for updates http://www.1up.com/do/minisite?cId=3154510. Here are the first details:

In the just-redesigned December issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly (subscribers should have it any day now) a handful of editors took Halo 3's multiplayer game hands-on.

The result? A 17-page cover story and a three-week series of stories on 1UP called "3 Weeks of Halo 3."

Before all of that information ends up in your hands, though -- here's a small taste of what to expect from both EGM and 1UP over the next few weeks:
# What are these new Brutish weapons? What's a Spike Rifle...or a Spike Grenade?
# The Mongoose (the once-scrapped ATV from Halo/Halo 2) is back: Who wants to ride Brokeback?
# Halo 3 will have three retail SKUs: standard, collector's edition, and Legendary. Guess which one comes with a helmet and four discs of content?
# Adding bumpers to the 360 controller means there's some extra real estate for Bungie to play with. Now the left bumper reloads your dual-wielded weapon and the right bumper is the normal reload. What does X do, though? Mum.
# Starting weapon: Bungie thinks they have the "perfect" starting weapon in Halo 3. It's not the pistol, the battle rifle, or the SMG...and it's pretty familiar. How does the new Assault Rifle play?
# One of the new maps, Valhalla, is being called "the new Blood Gulch" -- but this isn't another coat of new paint on the Combat Evolved classic. This is, from-the-ground-up, a brand-new map. How is it?
# What if you could save your own movies from Halo 3's single- and multiplayer gameplay and then rewatch them? In Halo 3, you can.

I have a lot of faith in Bungie. They've done a great job with optimizing Halo 2, not only prior to shipping but over time. The weapon tweak they performed was much needed and I don't know if that's every been done with another on-line game. The constant perfecting of the playlists to focus on what people want to play has been great too.

And I also say 'nay' to 32 players. I hated BTB. 8 players is best for this game. I'm not opposed to them having it in there, as long as they have plenty of smaller maps and make the 8 player mp the core of the game still.

There's a fine line to walk with this kind of game. You have to offer stuff up so that it's not just Halo 2 redux, and still keep true to what the fans are used to. There will be inevitable praise and bitching once it releases, but I'm sure that the core fan base will adapt to whatever they do and enjoy it.

Well I hate the small 8 player matches, so????????????

The SP level design had better be improved. I hated the "work your way to the middle of an alien structure to do something, then work your way out the exact same way you came in" levels. Or how about the "fight your way around a semi-circular base, go up an elevator and go around the same circle only a floor higher and going clockwise instead of counter-clockwise" ad nauseum nonsense.

I'm gonna have to get used to not using X to reload.

That option to save multiplayer movies is awesome.

Agreed the jump from Halo to Halo2 to was like Battlefield 2 to battlefield 2142
I'm hoping for a BF1942 to BF2 type jump same game but new :p

The four dvds sounds plasable. But "full size (!) replica of the Master Chief’s helmet" should be huge. This should be a really big and expensive CE.

Im happy with whatever decisions bungie makes about the game and amount of players (as long as they still have maps that can do a 4v4, and some with 16v16) cause theres no way they would support it if it was unplayable. (about 70% of the btbs I played are playable with little to no lag, the rest, who knows if there were bridgers/standbyers stole connection to a shitty one)
And hopefully they dont get greedy like other 360 games (did a good job with halo2) and release alot of maps/dlc for points.

All I really want is bungie/dedicated servers so theres noone getting host, no standbying

Maybe you can hold three guns total now. Two handguns at a time and a rifle on your back??
