Okay, so this is only slightly videogame related.

I picked up a couple of boosters of the Halo Actionclix, to see how it's played. It looks like a pretty cool mix of Heroclix/Mechclix and video game concepts. (You can swap out miniatures almost at will, as you "weapon swap". You can also upgrade your units during play and respawn them.)

I haven't yet been able to play a game, though.

Has anyone out there given these little things a try yet?

Yeah, they're not streetdated. I picked 'em up at GS. Target's being halfretarded about it though, some stores are selling, some think they're streetdated.

While I was at PAX this year, a friend of mine got to play it there. Hes played quite a few table top games and he says Halo Clix is pretty much awesome.

You get a couple of super rare clix if you preorder Halo 3 from Target, or you can wait until October when they start flooding EBay as the workers will collect them before they're "destroyed" to sell. This is according to Target workers on the official Halo Clix boards.

I actually went to Target earlier. They sold out of all their booster packs, but they did have 2 "exclusives". One was the Warthog with 2 Spartans, on driving, one on the MG. The other was some kind of Hunter set. Came with 2 Hunters, a couple of marines, and a couple of Masterchiefs/Spartans.

I recommend you guys get the 5 figure booster pack from your local hobby store instead of the 4 figure pack from retailers. Its like only $1 more ($10.99), and I believe some people say that you're not guarenteed a rare or something in teh 4 figure packs, I'll look into it on the WizKids forum.

I bought a pack yesterday for fun, I pulled a #052 Master Chief - Plasma Pistol/SMG, #007 Spartan - Needler, #014 Marine - SMG, #026 Jackal Sniper - Particle Beam Rifle, and #021 Jackal - Plasma Pistol.

I played HeroClix before, and ActionClix is the same mechanics, just with less powers and a bit more simplified. I played yesterday with my friend and I had a blast. So far I ordered a bunch of red and blue spartans online to create "demo" armies for my friends.

The Sculpts are pretty good, paint job is alright (not bad for mass production, but no where close to what experienced painters can do). The spartans make great figures to display if you're not into gaming.
