Halo: Reach

Mine's coming in from Amazon, so no midnight release for me, but I've found going at around 12:20-12:30 or so is best for those trying to avoid a line. I'm usually in and out in about two minutes, even on big releases like Starcraft II or Red Dead Redemption (happened for Halo 3 as well).
 
Free stuff might warrant going, I suppose it depends on what it would be. (My bud and I have car problems, so we'd be getting another friend of ours, who isn't interested in the game, to bring us. Just don't want to keep the guy waiting when I could go the next day and be out in 30 seconds, you know?)

My 360 kicked the bucket, sending it off tomorrow, but I got ahold of another 360 that works but has trouble reading discs. I guess I'll see if I can get it working for Reach.

Pays off to have friends with stuff you can borrow, eh?

Anyways, you can now set your Reach nameplate on Bungie.net. I still can't find my god damn CD key for Halo 1 on PC. Using the Reach beta one for now.

Apparently, if you have the name plates for Halo PC, Halo 2, Halo 3 and Halo 3: ODST you unlock Master Chief's helmet in the armory.

Can you unlock it otherwise?? If not, that's uber-gay. I have Halo downloaded from GoD on my 3660, but no PC copy.

Nah. Bungie said they have no way of validating Halo: CE copies for Xbox, and they aren't bothering with the Games on Demand version for whatever reason. PC copies only.

They did remove the previous deadline to activate keys, so you could grab a copy for $19.99 still and get it unlocked. It's definitely a neat unlock, but not a huge deal, IMO. A lot of the new armor permutations look really cool, so I'd rather use those. I've been playing as a Master Chief clone in multiplayer for nine years already.

Still going to be digging in my closet for my PC copy, though :lol: I know that damn thing is here somewhere.

If you have a USB thumb drive (which I'm sure you do - everyone has atleast one) you can use that in lieu of a memory card.

Yep. Dell.com is sold out, too. I really think the statue wasn't as easy to make as the Halo 3 helmet. Here is to hoping I can make money by selling everything in my legendary edition that isn't the game or the statue.

This really is good news though. I expect that amazon will only have it up for a couple days, so order now. Te worst is that you have to return it, right?
 
I like that this might actually be limited but my only issue with that is what if my statue is damaged? I wonder how easy it will be to get it replaced.

It might be black in Europe or where ever that game case is from (and Legendary/Limited editions), but there have been multiple pictures of it being the normal green case in the US.

Yeah, but there will be a free "Invasion" theme after Reach launches during the free xbox live gold days. Im waiting for that one. ;)


Looks like i only have Default, Septagon, and halo 3 name plates. Not really sure what the Marathon Durandal thing is. I tried to submit it, but i guess that game has to be one of the 5 recent games you have played for it to work. Oh well, ill probably just use the Septagon one.

Damn i wanted to cancel my order from gamestop, so i could use the free overnight shipping code. When i tried to cancel it, it wouldnt let me, and told me to email them. Just got an email back saying i couldnt cancel my order because they have it already packed for shipping. Guess ill have to wait for it to arrive with the SAVER shipping. Oh well.

That Best Buy deal is wicked, I think I may just have to jump on it. BTW, did anyone hear about the free Xbox Live week(end?) when Reach comes out? Can't find it on Xbox.com though, so I don't know if it is true.

Once the kids get out of school the day reach comes out it will get bad, but at midnight when the game comes out. It wont be.

Once the game comes out you can get a invasion theme for the invasion week them
 
I agree that once the kiddies get out it will be havoc. I'm glad I have no desire to play with a mic anymore these days, or I would go deaf when a party of 2000 came up squeaking up the joint :rofl:

As for the midnight launch, I bet a lot of people will be very tired for work on Wednesday...

Got mine @ gs and waiting on midnight release now and am ordering another game via amazon for my bro and thank god for prime's free same day delivery release. hope firefight and online multiplayer live up to the hype.
 
I am seriously pumped. My friends all make fun of me, because I date everything to reach. Like, we have a calc assignment and it;s due monday, and I was immediately liike, "Oh, the day before Reach!!!" I need help!!

There's a countdown clock on the 360 dashboard to help you with that. With that being said, halo reach+the start of the nfl regular season is going to be a really good start of the fall for alot of people, myself included.

Basically I was going to buy a standard edition from Gamestop at midnight until my Legendary comes from Amazon.

But no bueno on that idea? What if I bought a limited editon? Will the limited edition inside the legendary be sealed with a UPC so I can return it to Gamestop? I really want to play Reach at midnight, but I may be screwed at that front.

I think that might be difficult. If they're different cases, it wouldn't work.
 
For someone who has never played Halo - would you all recommend to play this one first? I know this is the prequel, but I'm trying to talk myself out of buying into the hype.

The Mountain Dew bottles are making it even tougher to resist.

JK, but it definitely is looking like it's going to be the best game in the series. I'd say get it, as H3's multiplayer will be pretty much dead come Tuesday, and Halo games aren't really known for the singleplayer. Overall, my recommendation is to get the regular edition somewhere with some great offers! Will definitely make it worth buying.

Well, the outside case may have the same UPC as the LE, even those the guts are different (LE will have green case, Legendary will have black case?)

Playing an older title in the series is a great way to avoid the hype. I did that with God of War II when GoWIII came out. I was dying to get III but popped in II and that got me through those first couple weeks when the hype was so great. Now I can successfully wait for the bargain bin. :)

That aside, definitely start with the first game. It's still a great game and there's no reason to skip it.

I would certainly pick up the first three games, or at least the first two and Halo 3 after Reach comes out (it will be dirt cheap).

In fact, if you're looking for the first two check my tradelist!
 
My hook up to get this early may have failed me. I was supposed to be getting it tomorrow but I know that is not happening for sure.

So hopefully he came through with Sat Delivery for me so I can play it this weekend before it comes out :D
 
Gosh, I'm having such a Halo-gasm right now by just watching gameplay videos and stuff. Can't imagine what it will be like when the game ACTUALLY COMES OUT. I can't take this. The game doesn't come out for another four days, plus I won't be able to play it intensively yuntil FRIDAY! UGHH!
 
My bud, who has no interest in buying the game, wants me to head over immediately after buying the game so that I can play split-screen with him.

As selfish as it may seem (Although I don't mean to be), whenever I get a game I want to take a bit of time and play it by myself, get used to it, all that jazz. I don't really feel like spending 65 bucks on a game to immediately go on some voyage with it and split-screen at everyone's house. He's expressed a lot that he doesn't plan on buying it, but he still wants me to head over there so that he can play it himself.

Gah. Is that so wrong?
