Halo: Reach

Hemorrhage blows for just about every game type, but that doesn't stop assholes from voting for it...and then promptly quitting when they don't get to the sniper rifle. Good job, douche bag.
@help1 - you figure since Bungie knew this was legally their last Halo game they would add a few things to mix it up, as well as save a few things to implement in their next game outside of microsoft's umbrella.

Are you playing mostly solo? As mentioned earlier, most of the fun in Reach lately is with a full XBL party of your peers. At least if you're getting housed you're getting housed as a team and if you're pwning, it's a tea party for you all.
I would, but none of my friends in real life like the game either. We all mutually agree that the game is a let down.

And all bungie did is set a bad standard that will now HAVE to be included into the next Halo game. Terrible.

And I wanted Halo 2 2.0 If that isn't what you wanted, then this piss poor noob'd out game should be right up your alley.

I think I've figured out armor lock finally, you have to be in it for a few seconds and your enemy has to be very close to you for the EMP to pop their shields, you can't just tap it while someone's by you.

That being said, the lag is so horrible in this game it doesn't always work when executed properly nor does armor lock actually function. Sometimes I'll hit armor lock, clearly before I receive damage that would kill me, the sound effect goes off but I still die.

Apparently you also cannot AL inside the hill in king of the hill gametypes. I understand why you can't but it's dumb IMO.

They got that one right. Even if you couldnt control the hill in AL it would still be a problem.

Hmmm i was looking at my methodical commendation for firefight. I only earned 6 spree's during one match of Gruntpocalypse when i dont die. Well turns out sprees in score attack look like this.

10 kills - Killing spree
20 kills - Killing frenzy
30 kills - Running Riot
40 kills - Rampage
50 kills - untouchable
100 kills - Invincible

so i guess to get the most sprees for your time, die after 50 kills, and repeat. That way you can get 12 sprees per game. I have 2156/2500 sprees right now. Im always looking at what commendations im close to getting.

There is a medal for killing 500 enemies in a row, but i dont know how you are supposed to do that unless it carries over in other matches. I dont think its possible to kill 500 enemies with 3 other people playing with you in regular firefight.

In the weekly update, Bungie announced the achievements for the map pack:

 • Totally Worth It - Earn a Double Kill from the Grave in multiplayer Matchmaking. (50)
 • Both Barrels - Earn a Double Kill with the shotgun in multiplayer Matchmaking. (50)
 • Cross-Mappin' - Kill a player at long range with the DMR in a matchmade Slayer game. (50)
 • You Ate All the Chips - Collect all of the flags in a matchmade Stockpile game. (42)
 • You Blew It Up! - Blow up the research facility in a matchmade Invasion game on Breakpoint. (13)
 • Poppin' & Lockin' - Destroy a vehicle using Armor Lock in a matchmade game. (25)
 • Offensive Driver - Earn a kill in a matchmade Rocket Race game. (20)

I don't think I've even played Stockpile since the first update. Though they don't make it clear, does it seem that they mean get each flag at least once? Or do they mean be the only one to score? I don't think either seems too hard, but the latter would require some teamwork.

Maybe you can get it in custom firefight (like the 1 million points in ten minutes custom game)? I never checked whether I got it.

If not in custom, yeah that seems pretty impossible.

Pretty bland list of achievements IMO. I'll probably through Reach on Goozex once I get Lt Col and that achievement and maybe do the hear me beg one etc.

I think someone said it best earlier: some of those are just gonna require luck. I don't think I can complain, though, considering all of the achievements on the disc are pretty easy, with the exception of "Hear Me Beg," and that's just because it's glitchy.
Man, you guys get pretty worked up over this game, eh?
it's the flavor of the month that's all, plus it's only a handful of us who really talk about it on a daily basis.

 If Reach drops out of the top 10 most played Live games by New Years, then you can call it a flavor of the month. However, considering history, I think we'll still see Reach in the top 3 for at least two years. Hardly a flavor of the month.

Although I agree with you, this Halo game clearly doesn't have the appeal of the other Halo games, and for good reason.

If some of you hate this game so damn much and think it's so awful, why do you still play it and talk about it? Makes no sense to me. If I don't like a game, I move on.

I agree, most on the forum will move on to Black ops.

I was randomly matched up against guilewasnk in multi team today, thought that was funny

It's one of the mysteries of gaming. I can't count the times people bitch endlessly about games but keep playing them....and bitching.

It's meant to be fun, if you're griping more than having fun, move on to something else.

But to each their own I guess. Some people are just negative and enjoying bitching and complaining.

Back on topic, having a daily challenge of completing 20 MP games seems a bit high given there was a weekly challenge for 30.
You really love sparking up arguments, don't you?
You apparently enjoy stating the obvious, out of the thousands of posts in here you felt like you needed to throw that gem of a post in, I wonder how many times it's already been said.

I for one, paid money for this game and have been trying to like it, there are some aspects that I enjoy about it but there are more that are aggravating and stupid. This is our discussion about these things.

Maybe don't make such arbitrary condescending posts in a thread that's obviously been thriving just fine without your guidance?

On topic: I just hit commander apparently, I figured out how to check my offline rank, I thought I was way farther.
Oh, and so is yours...

"Wah, I got killed, so this game blows."
EDIT: My last post was directed at "bigdaddybruce44" not Alpha Panda.

Most of my complaints are from people taking too long to die, not me dying. I don't have a problem with dying.

Almost every post of yours in this thread goes along the lines of...

"Armor lock/camping/having the nerve to kill me is cheap..."

Anyway, I've been playing a lot of multi-team, going for the weekly challenge, and I noticed that all everyone ever votes for is Elite Slayer, and I don't get the appeal of it.

It's nice to know you pay attention to what I do. It's like a warm blanket. I'm sorry I'm not sorry for talking about the game which this thread is the topic of. When you come pay my ISP bill you can tell me what I can and can't say on the internet.

Agreed. That's a lot of games. Definitely not going to bother. Have about 50 more kills until 1000 for the week, and then I'm playing New Vegas.

EDIT: Got my 1000, but now I'm 5 assists short of the daily challenge, so I can't pull myself away from it lol. Damn you, Reach.

And so, of course, assholes vote for Rocker Race...wow...

Don't forget to play Sniper Attack to get more sprees (sniper spree, sharpshooter, be the bullet). You can also get sprees with plasma nade sticks (sticky spree, sticky fingers, correction).

You're not the only one, I hate elite slayer.

I like Elite Slayer just for the fact that you start with plasma grenades. And I like the plasma pistol/needle rifle combo.
I like Elite Slayer just for the fact that you start with plasma grenades. And I like the plasma pistol/needle rifle combo.
Slayer pro is better, you get to be spartans, and can pick plasma nades with the needle rifle. Also not everyone will pick plasma nades/needle rifle combo. I hate elites, just because everyone has plasma nades and armor lock. Then you have people who run around and do the plasma gun+melee combo which kills a person in a blink of an eye. There is just so much crap when playing as elites.

Man i was on a roll in the beginning. Had like 34, 32, and 27 kills in multiteam. Then the bullshit starts. I get assassinated even though i turned around before they hit me in the back. Then i slice a dude up with a sword, blocked! So i try to slice him again as he moonwalks, i get no lunge at all and die. WTF!
Like some of the other modes, Elite Slayer is fun once every 5-10 matches. Any more than that and it gets annoying.
Exactly, exactly, exactly. I love variety, and it's not a horrible game mode. It definitely, though, gets very annoying when it is all people vote for.

when I mean flavor of the month, it's the hot topic to talk about. No other game is currently generating as much buzz as Reach. Good buzz or bad, it's still buzz. It's even been noted as the most talked about videogame on the fourms on Kotaku. I'll be playing Reach well into the new year for sure. I'll probably curb my playing when Diablo 3 comes out.

Got the 1000 weekly, SWAT was the wtg for me at least. The matches tend to go a lot quicker, unless of course to many ppl drop out and then it's just 1 guy hiding until time runs out. It'll be what I'll be playing until I hammer out the 45 multikills as well.

The frequency of Elite Slayer was as enjoyable as SWAT was before it got it's own playlist. I loved Elite Slayer, hated SWAT because it was picked everytime...now when you want it, you can just go and play it. I'm a fan of Slayer Pro (Warden), but I'm a bigger fan of having motion senors when you have shields. A crutch maybe but I'm just really comfortable with it, especially after the heartbeat monitor (despite other ppl having cold blooded and ninja pro)

Yeah, that seems to be thrown in there to help reach the 117 million goal. Assuming those that already linked, you just have to play a single game to get the credit?

I'm now on the long haul between Major G.3 and Lt. Colonel so I appreciate the easy ones.

i'm sure it also helps that more ppl will be subscribers to their forums as well. no complaints, you didn't even need to play a game to get the cR just join matchmaking que and challenge complete. (cR is added automatically to your total in case ppl were wondering why it didnt show at post game recap)

I didn't even have to play the game, actually. As soon as it began gathering players, the challenge popped.

I know I am one of the first people to point out how childish people sound when they say something is cheap, but I do think armor lock should be removed from FFA and multi-team modes, especially for Slayer. Those games are already based a lot on stealing kills from other people, but it just makes a lot of matches complete luck.
I like Elite Slayer just for the fact that you start with plasma grenades. And I like the plasma pistol/needle rifle combo.
Too bad stickies are practically useless with everyone armor locking.

LOL I honestly don't buy that bar at all, I feel like they've been filling it based on the complaints on the forums and all the talk of Black Ops, considering what it started at. That's just me though.

I agree. They already know they are going to lose a ton of people to Black Ops. They are just adding an incentive to get people to keep playing Halo.

Well either the "linked up with bungie.net" challenge is broken, or it only works for people who werent linked up before this challenge. Ive been linked since day one, using name plates, but i dont get any challenge reward for playing a matchmaking game. Unless there is a way to link that i am unaware of? Whats even more strange, is that you highlight the challenge and press A to jump to an appropriate lobby for this challenge, and it takes you to campaign. When clearly it says play a matchmaking game. So i have no idea whats wrong.

No, it doesn't say matchmaking. It just says "play a game". It should give you the cR when you're in the queue for a matchmaking game, though, so you may have already gotten it.

It clearly says play a game in Halo: Reach Matchmaking

Here's one I'm baffled by. Got matched up with someone last night in what would be my first WTF "Halo 3-ish-clearly-lopsided" player.

xVPolankilloVx - his stat page

The dude is good. Look at his win streak. He's played a TON, looks like close to 100 hours of Reach. Has a decent looking Commendation page. He's completed 49 Challenges.

My question is, how this guy still a Recruit?
It clearly says play a game in Halo: Reach Matchmaking
It may say that, but the challenge completes once you queue up for a game. You don't even have to play anything.

Also, I was linked before the challenge and it unlocked fine for me.

He doesn't look good to me, his MM K/D is a dismal 1.39 with just an average W/L ratio. He probably got caught cheating at some point, since he is still a recruit.
He probably got caught cheating at some point, since he is still a recruit.
That's what I was thinking, but if that's so, then MM isn't tied to your rank at all? Why send a cheater down the ranks just to own noobs?

There are hidden ranks which it uses to match people up. Matchmaking has nothing to do with your overall military rank.
That's what I thought, but we discussed it earlier and people had me convinced your Rank was more than cosmetic.
Yeah, the military symbol is cosmetic. You won't ever see the rank that the system uses to match people up.
