Halo the Movie EP=Peter Jackson SF=LOTR crew

Talk of the same guy who did Gladiator and Black Hawk Down doing it.. it could turn out alright/mediocre.. but.. leave it alone. just.. stop making movies out of games. It doesn't work.

If they change the title to "Contra: the Movie", and replace the ambiguously gay main character with 2 bad-asses named Mad Dog and Scorpian, I might go see this.

My guess is it'll turn into something like Resident Evil.

The general public couldn't watch a 2 hour movie of one person killing aliens. They'll either make Cortana an actual being or maybe add in some named Marines.

i won't expect much from the movie when it does actually come out seeing how videogame related movies usually end up being dissapointments.
I heard you can't see it if you modded your Xbox....
Weird, I also heard you can't see it if you say too many bad words in public.

I allways thought ?Halo if done right would make a great movie. Kinda like starship troopers but hey. The books would be a great wat to start the movie and lead up to halo being the 2 movie. Then halo 2 / 3 being the thrird

1 being the first book
2. being halo the game (On covie land)
3. being an major earth invasion with master chief of course coming to the aid and savin the day.

More then one spartan though. One man just dosn't seem right.
What if they did it in CG instead of real actors. That would be better IMO.
Yes and no...CG action movies can either turn out good but they can also go horribly wrong (Ever see that Starship Troppers series that was CG?), so I dunno if I trust that. I think it'd be interesting to use a style similar to what the new Appleseed movie used though.

Yeah, they can suck but if they made it like the FMVs in the game with better graphics than it would be sweet as hell.

I don't think cg would be that good. A high budget speciall effects movie with good actors would work. DOn't get these crappy one hit wonder teen stars to do the movie. Pay the money and get some reall tallent to write and star in and it would work.

they wouldnt have to do the ENTIRE movie in CGI. There is always the possibility of just using it for certain aspects of the covenant or the parasites of the flood.

if done right, it could be a good movie, but the chances of it actually getting done right... yeah.

It could be very cool, but the possibility of it actually turning out cool are slim. It would definitely need a huge budget, a good cast, and a coupel years to really develop. Oh, and a story that actually ends....

But here is the thing. How many people would see it even if it sucked??? There is plenty off fan boys who would see it even if every review gave it terrible reviiews. This alone could fund the idea of making it even if they know the fifnial product will suck. I personally do not want it made to tarnish the name if its going to suck. If your going to do it do it right.

Just a tibdit. Hasany one see the side scrolling 2d halo game made by this tenanger for the gba I think? Look spretty cool. Would be neat if they did come out with it. Don't think it would be official though. The whole microsoft/nintendo thing might be a problem.

I'm hoping this is gonna be awesome (obviously), but I'm having a hard time imagining how they're going to do this movie.

Not sure about the whole gba thing, but I know of a 2d work in progress called Halo: Blood Covenant.

They don't have any screeshots up at the moment, but last I saw it looked pretty sweet.
I agree if they did a movie based off the first book it could be very good.
yea that would be great, or htey can even tie the first book and the 2nd together in one movie

Yeah thats what it was called. I have seen a screenshot. It looks neat. I thought Id read the kid making it was using the gba engine to run it. Maybe not though. I would play that. Halo mets Contra.

***HALO BOOK SPOILER***

wasn't their another spartan or 2 alive at the end of the third book...one of them went with dr hallsay (sp?), the creator of the spartan program.

***END SPOILER***

I think it would be better if they had two guys named Spike and Hammer fighting bad guys to reclaim the girl that they are both in love with. Then at the end they have to fight one another for the girl.

I am not surprised, it is the popularest game around. It's a good way to rack up the money, even if it's not that great. I mean, I did see RE movies.

good stuff

No sense beating around the bush. I would only say that if you’re not already sitting down, you absolutely should.

A few weeks ago we were lucky enough to partner with two tremendous Producers from Universal, Mary Parent and Scott Stuber. In the short time they’ve been on board, Mary and Scott have joined with Peter Schlessel to accomplish unimaginably wonderful things. Example? They’ve secured an Executive Producer to help guarantee the creative integrity and technical excellence of the Halo film.

And that Executive Producer’s name is Peter Jackson.

I’ll give you a second to process. If you’re having a strong, emotional reaction, don’t panic. When I heard the news it took me the better part of a day just to stop smiling.

Yes. The Peter Jackson, Executive Producing the Halo film.

Needless to say I and the rest of Bungie are positively incontinent (Marty especially). But what really knocks us on our asses is we’re also getting the combined talent of the mighty men and women of WETA in the bargain. From fabricating Covenant weapons to building life-sized Forerunner structures to accomplishing shot after shot of complex live-action/CG integration – simply put, there’s no group of people we’d rather have realize the Halo universe on screen.

Indeed, I don’t think there’s another group that even could.

That's cool, I'd say the addition of WETA is more exciting than having Jackson on board even. The effects for all of WETA's films lately have simply looked amazing.

I hope this brings some legitimacy to video game movies then maybe we will get an outstanding Metroid movie which is all I really want.

Do you figure the main charactor's would start with 30 lives in the contra movie ?
Peter Jackson is the producer...Who will be the director?
no word yet, but it sounds like it's Jackson's call

hoping he will decide to steer this one himself

at least we can (hopefully) assume that the closest Uwe will get to this franchise now is when he attends an industry screener
