Hmm. Well we DO watch DVDs on the 360. Normal and HD DVDs. So you'd recommend getting the HDMI more for the DVD, than the games?

Where can I gets a cheap one?!
And what about VGA? What's that about?
If you look at numbers, it goes like this in terms of picture quality:

Component < VGA < HDMI

Though, if you're just looking at it, you may or may not be able to tell the difference. I've heard theories that component produces better colors than the rest while VGA creates a sharper picture etc, etc.

Anyway, if you want a good VGA cable, get this one:

http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-de-49-en-70-16s8.html

Or this one if you want optical out:

http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-de-49-en-70-1667.html

I have the optical out one and it worked awesome. I only use it now for the audio jack and I use HDMI as the video, but when I used it for VGA, it worked great. Cheap too.

And don't bother searching Xbox 360 and HDMI. Just buy a damn HDMI cable.
HDMI is the simpler easier way to go. It just also happens to be better. One cable. Digital signal, instead of analog... do HDMI.

Get one from monoprice. Get 2 if you think you're getting a PS3. Maybe 3 if you want to try to run your cable box to the TV via HDMI.

There may be shorter options that are cheaper, but you probably want something like this:
http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10240&cs_id=1024008&p_id=3993&seq=1&format=2
Awesome. That's not bad at all, especially for 2.

I gotta check my HD Cable box. I'd imagine it'd have an HDMI opening for it, but who knows. lolz@comcast. Even so, I only have 2 HDMI ports and I'd give them to my 360 & soon-to-be PS3. At least my Wii uses component to save me some space ;)

Currently the cable box is on component too. My set up is 1 component for the cable, and the other component into a switch box, which of course is my 360 & Wii. I don't like switch boxes..I kinda feel like they might ruin quality but I could be nuts :(

The 37" TV in the family room is hooked up via coaxial and it doesn't look terrible to me. I'd imagine RCA is going to be better than coax, and TV isn't important at all. I don't watch much TV.

The next thing I want to look into, that I know nothing about, is surround sound.
that's it.
28awg w/ ferrite cores.. male/male, i think.
that one's cheap cause nobody wants purple.
  Man, now I wish the Gamecube had an HDMI port. It would have been perfect!
The next thing I want to look into, that I know nothing about, is surround sound.
THIS CONFUSES ME SO MUCH.
I don't understand, but I just don't understand surround sound :dunce:

Make sure I'm around when you ask questions and people answer them.. this way I'll observe from a distance.

How much are you looking to spend?

If I weren't giving my old receiver to my dad for Christmas, I would have given it to you for cheap. :p

Yea, back at the dorms I had basic plugged into my 32" The picture is definitely passable if you don't care that much about tv.

As for surround, you can get a decent 5.1 system for like...200.00 Just don't get one of those all in one dvd player things.

You should just get the geek squad to hook up your entertainment center.

Absolutely nothing right now, because I just bought a TV.

I'm talking 6 months down the road, maybe.

Ha, good call.

Well, when it comes time, if you need help, let me know.
Temp, lets play CoD! Oh wait you don't have it. |:whistle2:{D
Yeah, I only buy good games. :(
That's right, WaW has "cartoony" graphics, right?
Yes. When I played the demo, my girl, who doesn't play games at all, looked at it and said "What is this game? It looks weird."

And how can you play yet another WWII game? I'm so done with those. Plus, COD 4 is so much better, why spend the money to downgrade?
Jesus I feel so terrible right now.

Some girl at that party had mono. Could I have indirectly caught it?
You didn't know what to do when a girl was grinding on your meat rocket. I highly doubt you have mono.

Mono isn't so bad, either. I remember getting it in 7th grade from playing truth or dare on the way home from a trip to The Alamo, but you just feel sleepy and crumby for a week tops. :/

I stayed the hell away from the girl anyways. Just didn't know if I could have gotten it from drinking someone's drink or something.

lilboo, is CF worth stealing my sisters wii for?

All this T.V. talk has gottten me jealous. One more week till I see if I can buy one.
False!
How can you share the screen on your monitor and play a game? Are you and your buddy holding hands while you play games together?

I have a 42" TV and there is no way I would want to play a game through split screen with someone.

You need to go to the girls and start grinding them. Look for my posts earlier.

And respond to PMs, jerk!

This. Or maybe someone's bitch ass decided to "spike" the punch with their mono filled backwash. Either way, mono kind of sucks. I've never officially been diagnosed, but I know you get quarantined, basically, and you feel tired all the time. The only reason it sounded fun was not having to attend school for 6 weeks or so. Then I realized I'd still be responsible for catching up on all the work in those 6 weeks or I'd probably be held back. That stopped the idea of mono being fucking righteous, reaaaaaal quick.

b. munchy... I got that thing.

 @ M.C. Frosticles...

I'm getting to it!

I'll remember that stuff for the next party. Is it really okay to pop one? That seems kinda weird...

yes, it's kinda like chicken pox. if you've never had it, or if you had a mild case, it is highly contagious. you can get it from sharing a drink or even if they cough/sneeze in close proximity.
Mono is fun! I had it!
you and me both.

just because you didn't have a bad case doesn't mean everyone gets it mild. i was in the hospital for 3 weeks, my throat swelled shut i was bordering on needing to be intubated and i was getting IV glucose because i couldn't swallow.

yup. also if she double-dipped in the salsa or sneezed/coughed on the food, etc.

Well shit. I guess I'll see tomorrow if I'm still all bad feeling.

It might have just been a little bit of a cold, but the medicine I took making me feel bad. I'm not sure if sudafed and zyrtec are mixable. Should I take these nyquil pills tonight or just lay off the meds?

I've had friends that got mono and basically just slept for a month. He had a doctor's note and they didn't even make him make up any tests or work.

Son of a bitch.
I'm getting to it!

Grind it all over her man. It's dark, no one will see. Hell, maybe she'll grab it.

This mono talk reminds me: my senior year in HS there was an outbreak of...something...TB for all I can remember. (Chika, that was a joke...) Turned out that more than 2/3rds of the student body hadn't been vaccinated, myself included. So, the 2/3rds of us had to stay home for a few weeks. (Except this girl I was kinda seeing at the time. Her parents pushed the school into letting her go to class anyway, so she wouldn't fall behind. She ended up not being valedictorian anyway, which bummed her out.)

On a different note, and this'll get me in trouble, I'm sure - but there's a little bit of snow out, but I was hearing a snowblower anyway. I walked out of my office, to look out the window...to discover that I was hearing Pixie snoring on the couch!

I'm going to tease her that she needs to have parts cut out, too.
Is this the TV you got, Rocko:

http://www.buy.com/prod/new-westing...cd-1-hdmi-2-dvi-hdcp/q/loc/111/205467075.html

If so, get a DVI-HDMI cable for the xbox. Then if you're digital cable has HDMI use that for your HDMI cable. Or vice versa.
I'm not a fan of the HDMI for the HD-DVR box... (a) I'd rather have some stretching/overscan for the TV so I don't see the bullshit CC line on the raw feed for some HD channels but because my TV has a case of Syphilis it can't have different settings for the different HDMI ports (it's basically just a hub instead of unique inputs, though each port has it's own video channel)... also, the TV used to get confused about picture size and audio from the box... I blame the herpes-infected DVR box more than the TV though... I got sick of this shit and forced the DVR box to component, since nothing on cable is >1080i anyhow. PS3 and the 360s are rolling on HDMI.
And chika's wii is upstairs on the SDTV  Didn't even bother with a component cable, as the PS2 is up there too, so that's using the component cable I got from trashkan.

I can't wait to get my other HDMI cable so I can have the xbox hooked up on that too. I wonder if I'll see an noticeable difference over component.

And I can't take a pic, Moxio. My wife took the camera, and her old one doesn't like to work right now. Shit sucks.

zyrtec is an allergy medicine and won't do much for anything other than allergies (i.e. histamine reactions including bee/mosquito stings) sudafed (pseudoephedrine or phenylephrine) dries mucus of all sorts. guaifenesin helps to get rid of mucus. tylenol/advil helps with body aches/sore throat and fever. dextomethorphan is a cough medicine.
