Hardest-Core Addiction to an XBox Game

Lefty

CAGiversary!
I'm in the grips of a Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance addiction currently. I play for about 2 hours every day, and 4 on the weekends and this has been going on for about a week. What's the most time you've spent while addicted to a game?

Hmm, by your standards, almost every game I've had was an addiction. In my terms, Ninja Gaiden was beaten in 3 days, and it took me 25 hours. Windwaker is another type of addicion, however. I've had it for about a month, maybe more, and generally play it an hour or so every day, but some days I play much, much more.

Knights of the Old Republic. I played it through back to back to back in a three week period. Man, I love that game.

Reading the topic title, I can't help but think of Bob Saget's rant about addiction in Half Baked.

"Marijuana is not a drug. I used to suck dick for coke. Now that's an addiction. You ever suck some dick for marijuana?"

When Metroid Prime came out, my girlfriend at the time gave it to me as some shitty anniversary present right before christmas. I stayed up and played for something like 14 hours on Christmas Eve and was barely conscious for the holiday. My family stayed pissed at me about that one for a couple of months.

Most time spent playing a game I was addicted to was like 50 hours in five days on the NES game Deadly Towers. (This was many years ago)

Most time spent addicted to a game overall is like 17 years. (Deadly Towers). I still cringe at the mention or sight of that game.

Four years ago I relapsed and pulled this game out and played it for like 15 hours straight. After realizing that this game was beginning to consume me once again I packed up my NES and stuck it in the attic

Oh no! Now you've gone and done Lefty. I'm beginning to tremble! I'm getting hot flashes! RELAPSE!!!!! Where did I pack that box? Where did I pack that box? Ahhhhhhh!!!!!!

Has anyone ever beaten that game?

I have a halo addiction, put well over a hundred hours into it and still pick it up when I have nothing else to play

I also put about 45 hours into kotor in about a 3 week period
JSRF

Yes, i actually LIKE this game. And i even bought it before it was a freebie
There's no shame in it; JSRF is a great game. I paid $40 for it when it first came out and I have no regrets.

I was pretty heavily addicted to Morrowind... On the weekend, the sun would rise, and the sun would set outside my living room window in summer, and I continued on killing dark elves and caves and trying to figure out ways of levitating my bloated corpus too heavy with ill-gotten booty (too heavy to walk) back to my hide out... during the weekdays I'd allow myself about 30 minutes after I got home for work for food before turning the xbox on... and promising I'd shut it off before 1:30am. Five pounds and six months later it finally released me. Haven't picked it up since, though I'm likely 90% done with the thing...

Halo multiplayer, senior year of high school my friends and I logged at least 200hrs in a year playing with the system link and 4 xboxes. now we must be up to at least 400+ total hrs. Its sounds untrue but 5pm - 2 am nights weren't uncommon
Not an X Box game, but I dropped around 5-7,000 hours in Ultima Online back in the day.
Damn, I was hoping no one would post a record that stood up to mine, oh well. In the Summer, man, all I did was play Wolfenstein for Xbox. In the few months that Summer last, I think I spent atleat 900 hours, but probably more like 1,000 hours on that game. I'd play atleast 12 hours almost everyday. I actually didn't eat for two days one time when I found my true skill on that game, sniping. I also made up a routine from that game called "The Wolfenstein". You stay up to atleast 5 in the morning playing vid games, then you wake up in the afternoon and repeat that for atleast a week. I have failed to achieve that again, if Enemy Territory comes out for Xbox right before Summer, maybe I'll have that chance to perform that routine again.
Metal Arms has been my current mini-addiction . . . If you like to blow stuff up . . .

Definitely and overlooked gem!
It's Ratchent and Clank for multiple consoles...I just wish the tearing in the xbox ver. wasnt so annoying.

Oh, and one VERy guilty pleasure now...DDR. i had played this once or twice in the arcades (when no one was around) and sucked horribly. Now ive got Ultramix and i can make an ass out of myself at home.

I've only had my Xbox for about 2 months, but I've found myself playing Project Gotham Racing 2 quite a bit. Even after completing every stage, I've been going back and getting the silver medals for each stage that had a bronze one. I think my gameplay time may exceed the one I have for Burnout 2 on the GC, which is 40 some odd hours. In PGR2, I have about 32 or so hours clocked in. I wish I had a broadband connection, because I would really love to go online with this game.

I was pretty addicted to MGS2 Substance when I bought it used for $9.99 awhile ago, I was suprised that I actually finished it from start to finish.

I just got Halo a couple days ago, and I've been playing that one quite a bit.

I'm waiting for RalliSport Challenge 2 and TOCA Race Driver 2. Those two will probably take a huge chunk of my free time.

I've spent a lot of time usually with the FF games. They are so time cosuming and always going back to max out your characters is a must.

Well, when I was playing it, KotOR was definitely the game I spent the most hours in a row on since the 16-bit era. I played through on light side in quick fashion. I started on dark side after that but wanted to sell the game before it was worthless so I got rid of it.

I'm not really stuck on anything right now. I'm currently playing Unreal Tournament 2004 the most but I'd hardly call it an addiction.

Morrowind was the most hardcore for me - I still pick up that game once a week and play for a couple hours, and I've had it for at least 6 mos. Substance is still tight, and it was up there with Morrowind, but I'm not still addicted to it.
What frightens me is the release of Fable.

I was hooked on Morrowind. I got that game in the summer season, so I had way too much free time to play it. I played that 8 hours straight on some days (maybe more?).

DAOC, I was ridiculously addicted to this game for months. Then it hit me, I really wasn't even enjoying what I spent most of my time doing... leveling/fighting mobs.

170 hours in a month on PGR2, online and off. Lost interest (for the time being) with only 7 events left to raise from silver to gold in the single player. Maybe some day I'll go back.

definately Gaiden took me 20 hrs firs time on normal then unlocking the mini games second time on hard mode so about 40 hrs all for Gaiden

I'd have to say the only time i've ever really been addicted to a game was when I first bought my Playstation and Final Fantasy 7 along with it . I got it right after the summer break began and went into some type of Video Game coma I didn't eat , sleep or shower for god only know how long . I seriously logged at least 100 plus hours of game time in about a week .I got the Knights of the Round table summoning spell a Black chocobo, leveled up all my characters to the max and got everyone's ultimate weapons . Till this day if anyone mentions Final Fantasy 7 my eyes glaze over and I start thinking about that one summer vacation I was addicted to a video game .

Well. I thought I had an addiction...

One of my friends has logged 1,350 hours on Everquest. That boggles my mind.

Morrowind and later the game of the year edition. I've started and restarted so many games and never get bored! (Except for all the bugs!) But that is one quality RPG, I wish it was on live though.......

1,350 hours in EQ isn't that much, by the time i quit i had like 5 months on the game, in about 2 years time, i was spending at least 7 hours a day on it. Yea, it was a sad time that i will never get back.

Strange. I loved every second of my Ultima Online addiction and I'd give almost anything to get the old UO back. ;-)

I've probably logged 1200 or so hours on PSO over the years...

Halo is my current addiction.. play probably 15-20 hours a week multiplayer.

my biggest addiction was Battletoads....back in the day, this was one of the only games i would play on NES....i played it nonstop for days upon days upon days....then again...i didnt really have many games to choose from...i just never got tired of this as a kid....

but if you want an addiction....

buy 24 season 1 and 2 on dvd....you will have to watch it with a hammer in your hand so you can hit yourself in the head to take the attention away from the tv just so you go pee and grab a snack....if you didnt already just say screw it and pee in ur pants cuz u didnt feel like leaving the tv

I would say that Ninja Gaiden was my Xcrack! I stayed up till 2 o'clock in the morning finishing up that game. Damn it was hard, but you just couldn't put it down.

eh.. after Ultima Online, which I posted about a page or two ago, my most notable addiction was Asheron's Call. That was 2,000 hours at best.

But more recently would be Smash Bros. Melee. I think I passed the 1,000 mark at some point and I'm chugging along. We usually have six hour sessions when we play four player Melee, and 2 or 3 hours if it's one on one.

At least one session a week, and many hours a week during free time on campus.

Deff Kotor.... But before that SOnic Adventure 2. Dreamcast AND Gamecube. Gotta have close to 300 hours between the two versions.

AND, I can sing the city escape theme :D
