Hardest game?

SoulEdgeVII

CAGiversary!
What is the hardest game that you've ever played?

I'd have to go for F-Zero GX. When you set the story mode to very hard, they MEAN it.

Metal Arms and Genma Onimusha have been killing me for the past few weeks. Splinter Cell can be quite unforgiving if you don't have the patience.

kid chameleon. i could never get past the level when you are a beserker running away from the drill wall.

also: metroid prime, rez, mad maestro.

ikaruga, ive been playing it for a few weeks with a friend but still havent gotten off the second level.

games this generation are for wimps.

and what made hydlide really hard is that it sucked so bad, it was hard to play the game for more than 2 minutes at a time.

and there's also the whole ram your dude into an enemy while holding a and hope you're atttacking because the sprites won't tell you anything part.

f-zero gx
guilty gear x2 (missions)
ikaruga

few stupid impossible goals of mine:

super smash - beat event 51 with each character (done)
ddr - beat max300 (not even close)

beating event 51 with every character is quite commendable exp. since some of those characters are not very nimble when it comes to giga bowsers big smashing ways

Contra fucking 3. The boss of level 5 is near impossible, but mostly just vomit inducing ruining a great game.

And I have yet to find a really hard game for the GC. Viewtiful Joe and Rogue Leader weren't too bad, but I haven't tried V joe on ultra V-rated yet, and getting gold medals in rogue leader is damn near impossible, just the way I like it.

And metroid prime is a piece of cake (though I still have to try hard mode).

Resident Evil for gc, beat the game to get the hardest difficulty and put on invisible enemy. Without those 2 options its not that hard.

Yeah, try it with ganondorf. Boy, did that take a while... Or pichu...
Ninja Gaiden- That damn game damn neared gave me a mental Breakdomn :(
I second that I almost had a stroke playing that fucking game .

Ninja Gaiden on the NES or Xbox?

NES Ninja Gaiden was pretty tough, but it just took repitition to finish. I remember not being able to complete the first game because it was a rental and I had to take it back (was on stage 6-2).

Easily beat part 2. Never played 3. Xbox NG isn't much harder than part 1 or 2, though I stopped playing after chapter 9 due to having so many other games to play.

I just recently picked up Contra: Shattered Soldier, a game I've been meaning to get for quite a while. I haven't started playing it yet, but everyone I know who've played it tell me it's the hardest game on the PS2 by a wide margin.

Contra: SS is pretty tough but also a blast to play with a friend...that is one of the few games where I got almost obsessive...must...figure...out...patterns!! I'm usually a wimp when it comes to difficult games. Right now I'm having a bit of trouble with Breakdown for the Xbox...ya I suck.

Contra: SS is tough.
But the hardest game I've played in a long while is Shinobi for the PS2. I spent over 6 hours one night trying to beat the last boss and still couldn't do it. I never even came close.

yea shinobi s really hard. i gave up on i think the third boss, the one who regenerates and teleposts.

Most games this generation are for wimps but I'd like to see anyone get a perfect score (9999) on Super Monkey Ball. I think there's only 10 known people who have done it.

you can make any game hard if you handicap yourself with odd rules or options.

you're going to have to go classic in order to find natively hard games. Back from the day when games had to have content to sell, not just prettys.

Zelda 2 and Battletoads stand out as being tricky, but most NES games probably were.

I was going to mention Battletoads, but you beat me to it. That game was bloody ridiculous. Anyone who has played on that last tower level will likely never forget it... and that is NOT a good thing, in this case...

I must weep...

Zelda II is a good one as well, but it's funny... I don't remember the game being that hard when I was younger, and I still have a saved game right at the very end without a single death. However, I remember trying it again (though not at length) a number of years later and finding it much more difficult than I remember. Anyone else had a similar experience going back to a game and finding it much harder than you recall? Or easier, for that matter?

Also: Mad Maestro? What's hard about that?

i dont know, i do fine most of the song, but then i suck and go devil mode, or i just barely miss medley mode. its not very hard, it can just be frustrating at times.
