Harry Potter 1-5 HD/Blu-Ray Deals?
That what I was wondering.
The series wont be completed on dvd til late 2010-2012. I'd say a 3 to 5 year gap could justify a double dip.

But who knows, in 2012, we may have dvds that play at 1440p or 2160p.

Mine came this morning, not sure if i like the packaging though. would prefer the individual disks to be in standard packaging that I could remove from the box and keep on my shelf next to my other movies.

Any contact information to see if WHV can mail me out a set of the boxes? (unlikely i know)

Hrm, that is disappointing. If you have any success getting them to send you individual cases, definitely let us know.

I feel the same, however, I just bought 5 blu ray cases off ebay and will print off the cover art. My friend decided to eBay his set and just buy the stand alones.

It's a very cool set, and they have had pictures of the set's contents for months. You have nobody to blame but yourself for overlooking those.

My set arrived this morning. Very cool all around, and I'm looking forward to watching all of these.

Don't get me wrong I love the set. I just want to keep them on my DVD rack and put the box up for safe keeping. I should be getting my new receiver soon (Onkyo TX-SR605) and I can't wait for the uncompressed PCM tracks.

I can appreciate that much. I have a spare BD case from Sony's "Fifth Element" replacement program, and may use that to store one of the movies.

So I was reading Digtal bits today and came across this

"One last quick note today - some readers who have purchased Warner's Harry Potter: Years 1-5 - Limited Edition Gift Set on Blu-ray Disc are reporting an unwelcome surprise in the case. Films 1-3 and 5 are the Blu-rays as ordered, but The Goblet of Fire is the HD-DVD version. D'oh! Make sure you check your case before you leave the store. Wonder if the same is happening in reverse. As Bits reader Stanton Z. so sagely noted via e-mail this morning: "Isn't this the poster child for why there shouldn't be TWO hi-def formats?" Yep."

And I thought to my self I didnt really take a look at my discs I just gave it the good old once over. And to my surprise I found this.......

Sorry for the bad pics I suck at digital photography.

my credit card was stolen, so i tried calling up Warner to change the credit card I used to preorder the :hd: version of this giftset. also, I tried to switch it to the :br: version, but Warner wouldn't let me make any changes. to my surprise the UPS guy came this morning and delivered the :hd: version. I wonder what Warner will do - they couldn't have charged my card for it since it was cancelled before they charged my card.

now i just gotta wait for my :br: version.

edit: i guess they did charge me

DO NOT ORDER THIS BOX SET!
I have three friends who ordered the Blu-Ray version and all received HD-DVD Goblet of Fires. I called WB today to cancel my order (unfortunately it already shipped), but they told me that there is a very large error ratio and apparently if affects 70% of their box sets. They said it's even some stand alone versions as well. There is no word on how they will handle this, but they told my friends to wait another week and call back. That is complete BS. The lady I talked to told me to refuse shipment and they will give me a full refund. Looks like I'm buying the stand alone disks and praying they get it right. This just proves that stupidity behind two formats. I hope they lose a lot of sleep over this!

On another note, my friend's box set looks pretty crappy and it doesn't fit with the rest of his Blu-Rays. Very unfortunate.

Also, for the person who wanted contact info, 1800-364-6928 is the number. They have really nice customer service reps, but be prepared to wait awhile.

my Blu-ray set was fine...only thing that i didnt like was that the bonus disc seems to be a regular DVD...only reason i brought the set is because i havent seen a single HP movie and i have been meaning to so it was the best deal...probably when i am done i may unload it...

i would have much rather they released a cheaper boxset with just the movies in their blu-ray cases

If its any consolation Wal Mart B&M has all the movies sold separately for $18.96 each.

Looks like HD DVD might win this week by accident.

I checked my discs, and they're all marked as Blu-Ray. I'll watch them to see if they play, though. God only knows if they fuck this up, they could as easily have printed BD labels on HD DVD discs.

My blu ray set came perfectly.

A friend got the hd dvd set at the same time.

His was fine too.

No worries.. there are errors every once in a while.

I just now finished watching them.. Jeez :) Long day. Great movies.

DEMO MATERIAL - OOTP. Holy god. I slow mo'd through a few scenes.. amazing...

yea i watch all them yesterday and man all the movies were awsome! and so does POTC: AWE and superbad

Does anyone happen to know if the HD-DVD or Bluray versions of each movie have the additional scenes added back into the movies (like the versions they show on ABC Family)?

why the fuck aren't hp movies 1-4 as good as 5 in terms of picture quality? harry potter 1 is only 6 years old. This is a travesty. I'm pissed as hell. It seems that WB, who had the best DVD quality, is kinda the worst quality in BD's. All my WB discs don't look as good as the SONY discs. 300 looks bad too. It's messed up that they use DVD masters instead of remastering the entire thing for 1080p calibration which they did with HP5. I've noticed that with a lot of Legacy movies. they just use the same DVD masters, so you just get like a 20 percent bump in quality from a DVD. shameful and lazy. You know they will remaster it again and take your money again.

Received my Blu Ray boxed set today from WHV and sure enough, Goblet of Fire was an HD DVD. Anyone else this happened to heard from Warners yet as to how they're going to resolve it? I have an HD DVD player but would of course rather have the set all in one format.

Got an E-mail today to call them (WHV) about the Harry Ptter issue. After a 5min call with someone who sounded like she was on the shipping floor they are sending me a replacement disc.

if anyone wants to sell their HD DVD 4th disc alone after you get a replacement BD, shoot me a PM, I'll buy it haha don't mind not having a case. I liked goblet of fire.

also I have only an HD DVD player, is the 5th pq noticeably better than the rest? I wanted the set but now I may only worry about the 5th for now.
