Has anybody had this happen? (HORRIBLE Walmart.com and Walmart B&M experienc

CAGiversary!
So I recently ordered 4 games for 40 bucks from the Walmart.com 2 for $20 sale that was posted on this site. One hour after ordering, I realized that I only really wanted 1 of those games and I could get it for just a couple of bucks cheaper at a different store close by. I know I'm stupid, but CAG made it so easy and tempting(Damn you CAG!!!) Anyway, so I cancelled the online order an hour after I first put it in.

Three days later I go back to check the status and it still says "processing." So I call them up and the phone rep tells me that 3 of the 4 games have already shipped and only one of them was cancelled. I asked him if it would be a hassle to return the games to a Walmart store and he assured me that it would be quick and easy to do so. I was kind of mad that I'd have to pay shipping because they didn't cancel the order on time, but I was willing to pay for that.

A couple of days later I got the package. I take it straight to the nearest Walmart, where I usually never go because it's in the ghetto. There's only 1 rep at the customer service and I wait in line for almost 30 minutes until it's my turn. I give the receipt and the 3 games to the rep. I'm being polite and smiling through this whole thing, btw. The rep scans the 3 games and says they're not appearing on the computer. She tries this about 5 more times and then notices that there's a little half-ripped Blockbuster sticker on the front of one of the games and tells me that she can't refund me the money because it has a Blockbuster sticker on it. I tell her I came straight here after I got the package and that's exactly how I received it, and that it shouldn't matter because the receipt has my name, the purchase info, and the names of the 3 games that are sealed and brand new in front of her. She keeps blabbering about how it's weird that the Blockbuster sticker's on one of the games and that she can't refund me the money because I could have gotten the game at Blockbuster to try to return it to Walmart. I tell her I wouldn't be stupid enough to leave the Blockbuster sticker on there if I was trying to pull a scam and that's exactly how the game arrived in the mail. I then remind her that it doesn't even matter what the hell is stuck on the outside of the game because the receipt in front of her has my name and address, purchase info, date, and the detailed description of the 3 games which are sealed and brand new in front of her. I even show her the delivery slip that confirms that I received these games right before I came to the store. She doesn't seem to understand, so I ask her to get the manager and she gets the video game department manager who looks just like her, talks just like her, and probably has the same IQ of 70. The manager proceeds to give me the same bullshit excuse about how it has the half-ripped Blockbuster sticker on it. I try to reason politely with her for another 5 minutes and she says she'll refund me the money for the 2 other games but not for the one with the sticker. My face is starting to turn red by this point and I tell her that if the stupid sticker bothers her so much, I'll rip it off right now because then she would have refunded me the money like the other 2 games. She then starts giving me attitude and says she needs to help other customers in line. I ask for her supervisor and she says he's in a meeting and starts being a smartass with me saying I could wait for his meeting to end, but it would be a long time. At this point I'm so disgusted that I can't deal with it anymore and I didn't want to make the other people behind me wait, so I just tell her never fucking mind and storm out of the store. I went to my car, took the god damn sticker off, and took it to another Walmart where the rep promptly gave me my refund - only she had to punch in everything manually because like the previous store, they have no fucking clue how Walmart.com operates and the computers and sales info aren't linked between the stores and the website.

God I was so fucking pissed off. I almost wrote a letter to their corporate but I figured it would just be a drop in the bucket. Has anyone had a similar experience with them? Or has anyone received stuff from Walmart.com with other stores' stickers on them? I'm never ever fucking shopping or ordering from Walmart ever again - add it to the list right under Best Buy.

both the walmarts in my city have retartded workers. I once bought a game from there and decided they didn't want it and went back the next day and the shrink wrap on it had a little tear on the front (thats how they gave it to me) and they refused to return it and told me it was open and I sealed it. After talking with the one of the supervisors they returned it for me and apologized.

Also when I called both the Walmarts in my city one day and asked them when they were getting MGS3 they said they werent getting it till Dec 10 and its not released till then. I told them it was released but they said no. That same day I go there and there it is sitting on the shelf.....Wow, a lot of Wal-Mart employees are retarded. They said they looked but really didnt even bother...oh well what can you do

Last week I tried to price-match Hollywood Video's $19.99 price on the Seinfeld sets at Wal-Mart. I show the manager the HV ad and she won't do the price-match because, in her words, "it's not an ad." Come again?

She pulls out a Target ad and says, "This is what an ad looks like." I say, "No, that's what a Target ad looks like. This is what a Hollywood Video ad looks like." She starts to get mad, probably frustrated by her complete inability to articulate her poorly formed thoughts. She waves the Target ad and says, "No, it's gotta be on paper."

I just stare at her and even she realizes that what she just said is idiotic, so she tries another tack: "They're not our competitor." It's pretty dark outside, and we're standing by the front of the store, so I turn and look at the brightly illuminated Hollywood Video on the other side of the parking lot, maybe 100 yards away. She turns and looks at it too. Then she just says, "We sell stuff other than movies." I say, "So... what?" Defeated in our one-sided battle of wits, but still in a position of power, she sighs and says, "I can't do it."

So I went to another Wal-Mart and price-matched without a problem. The point of the story isn't so much that Wal-Mart employees aren't geniuses (which in my mind is a good thing, actually, because it's a sign that people can generally get jobs that match their aptitude; in countries like India and Russia you have people with engineering degrees doing menial work for little pay) but that I'm tired of stores making up bullshit excuses every time they either don't understand one of their own policies or don't want to honor it. Just tell me straight up that you won't do it, or that you don't know how to do it, and don't waste my time.
I'm never ever shaq-fuing shopping or ordering from Walmart ever again - add it to the list right under Best Buy.
So you're never shopping at Walmart or Best Buy ever again. Gotcha.

Plan on paying much more for everything. But hey, good luck.
The Blockbuster bit is intruiging.
I've seen a stack of DVDs at WalMart with FutureShop (a Canadian Best Buy-esque store) tags on them.

Seems the shipments got crossed, and rather than rectify the problem (both stores are in the same plaza) WalMart just elected to put the discs on the shelf and sell them as their own.

Perhaps they tried to be a little more discrete with their Blockbuster theft?

I've placed four orders with Walmart.com and they've all been handled superbly.

Certainly nothing like you've run into. And yes, I don't think anyone here would be as stupid enough to leave a BB sticker on a box you're returning.

The only thing that would've topped it off is if you went over there with the package unopened and opened it up in front of them to get the packing list. That would've shut them up immediately, I think.

 Target usually has the same or maginally lower/higher prices, and the only thing I would go there for, cheap bubble mailers, are lower in price if you buy several at a time at Staples. Wal-Mart is worthless to me.

I got blacklisted on Walmarts "return without a receipt list". Apparently you can only return things 3 times a year or less at any given Walmart.

I hate Walmart, however, I always find myself there...dammit!

Hmmm...oh K. Did you have the actual HV guide or was it a print-out you made of the ad? I saw a scan of the ad and I know some people were wondering if that would be sufficient for a price match.

I could see how she'd be reluctant to PM from a photocopy/print-out as opposed to having the original HV magazine. Didn't HV pull it from the shelf soon after 11/23?

Yea...Malmart employees aren't too bright.
Last year i bought NFL 2k3 and Lord of the Rings:The Two Towers and they both needed to be price matched from a Media Play ad. He price matched the dvd and forgot to ring up the ps2 game. Put both of them in a bag and let me walk out. This happens to me at least once a year. Must be a CAG god watching over me.

It was the actual glossy HV ad. My local HV did not pull the ad from the shelf.

usually employees at wal mart are uneducated adults in their mid 20's or 30's. Since their life is a piece of shit they gotta make yours one too, so they can have a little hapiness in their pathetic little lives.
Why didnt you just take the sticker off before you got there?
Like I said, I got it in the mail and then went straight to Walmart to return it. I didn't really notice it because it was half ripped already and I figured it was a common occurrence anyway.

I won't need luck. I have several Gamerush stores, Mediaplay, and a couple of EB and GS around where the people are actually friendly and helpful. And it was actually my second time ever going to Walmart that day when I went to return the games. I don't think I'd miss either store much at all.

YAR HAR! walmart will smite all of those stores... then you'll be left with a walmart and a super walmart... then you shall have to make a decision...

I went to a local Wal-mart a few months ago with my friend who was planning on buying a MP3 player for a trip. Well all they had were some players from like 1998 I guess because they were 32MB RIOs (sp?) marked $239.99. My friend then asked about their return policy on MP3 players and the manager tells him they are SOFTWARE and can't be returned. Being a computer science major I just had to step in there and try to explain the difference between hardware and software in as simple of terms as possible before blood started coming out of my nose. Unfortunately it did no good because to this woman, everything in electronics is "software"....we argued for several more minutes, I got irate, she got irate, things were said and I have not been in a Wal-mart since.

I know it has become a trend to bash Wal-Mart, but they really have done nothing to me but provide me with low prices. I will continue to shop there. Look through the threads and see how many of you decided Wal-Mart was "evil" only because they've been in the news. And OP, sorry to hear your store, but I'm glad you could return the games.

Damn it, read the post before you reply. I wasn't trying to return a Blockbuster game to Walmart. Walmart.com sent me the game with a Blockbuster sticker on it, which caused all this trouble combined with the stupidity of the customer rep.

And to answer your question, whoknows, Walmart is named so because the founder's last name is Walton. The Waltons make up 5 of the top 10 richest people in the U.S. and 4 of the top 10 in the world(it may have changed since I last checked). And I believe more than 10 Waltons and relatives are billionaires because of the corporation, some of it due to the fact that they mostly hire unskilled minimum wage workers and illegal immigrants.
Wal-Mart, what idiot made that name up. Maybe they named it after themselves in some way? If so its a stupid name :D
The founder was named Sam Walton, so yes, he named it after himself.
both the walmarts in my city have retartded workers.
Are you implying that there are Walmart stores that do not have retards running the show?

Man, just hearing stories like this make me very, very mad.

I actually work at a Wal-mart...

Most of the store is retarded. Luckily, the electronics department(where I work), is the lone pocket of intelligence in the store.

I hate Wal-Mart. I refuse to shop there until I have no other choice. Which happens more than I care to admit, seeing as how I live in the middle of nowhere with Wal-Mart being the closest store to me. :(

Damn Wal-Mart, damn them straight to hell.

Walgreens sometimes sells bubble mailers (8x10inch) for 3 for a dollar. Its the perfect size to fit a Videogame or DvD into. You have to use the coupon in their flyer to get the price, and they usually go on sale once a month.
