Has anyone done the whole "complete these offers to get x item?"

These things keep bugging me, they sound easy enough to me.

Yes, you have to spend money to get something back but for the most part the reward is usually well worth the time.

Now I have my eyes on a $500 Visa card promotion thing. Basically complete 8 offers total, but still that's a $500 pre-paid debit card. Now I'd probably have to spend around $70 or so for all of these offers, but that's still $430.

Has anyone done and succeeded at these promotions?

Tell me your stories and what you recommend doing, I'd appreciate it so I can feel a little more at ease.

*ahem* I'd check the sticky thread made especially for those incentive sites :p.

Personally I've done two, both TRAINN, flashipods4free and Yourfreevideoipod or whatever that one is

I spent around $70 for the 5 referrals for a video ipod and pretty much nothing for 5 referrals for $250 paypal.

I would be interested in hearing about any offers that don't require referrals. Ones you can do all on your own. Anyone tried those out, and have you had any success.

Yeah some of the offers are very vague on when you'll get credit, like they'll say "Try this FREE for 30 days" while others say "Try this FREE for 7 days in order to get credit."

I just don't want one them to turn around and say that they won't give me credit until I go BEYOND the 30 days. Or I have to wait until the 30 day trial is up before they give me credit, because if I complete the trial offer then I should get the credit ASAP.

I did these a year ago... maybe a year and a half now? it was indeed a lot of work but only because i was a member of a website and i kind of paid people to complete offers for me, or rather i "traded referalls".

I got a 27" sony wega tv, my sony psp, a $500 sony digital camera, and because i signed up for a few smaller companies, i got ripped off for the rest. I was supposed to get a 60gb photo ipod, 5 psp games, and something else... and that small company went bankrupt and ran with everyone's money.

SO my advice to you is, if you DO decide to do it, stick with the bigger well established companies.,

I also want to note that it is a LOT harder/bigger pain in the ass than it was just a year ago because they make you do a LOT more offers than they used to.

It all depends on how much that "free" item is worth to you i guess.

I just started a thisnewnanoisfree.com account (see my sig for referal link) and did two offers to complete my part. I need 15 more poeple to complete those offers (it took me ten minutes) neither required a Credit Card. I am going to offer people $2 for a referal and see if anyone will help me out.

Um no. I was just posting that here to tell you that I am going to try one. I was telling you how I was going to try and get referals. I was not asking for one. I will tell you how the site ends up working out for me.

READ THE ToS of ANY OFFER YOU DO, AND I MEAN EVERY WORD!

Also, avoid any offer that involves WhiteOvernite, NovaPointe, Cheat & Eat, etc. This company (they're all the same one) will rip you off royally. It took my several months to reverse the $500+ charges they made to my credit card.

I did succeed in getting some decent profit from the freebie sites, but these days, I honestly can't say the hassle is worth the reward.

That is why I NEVER do things that involve CCs.

If you don't like cc sites, there are a BUNCH of non-cc sites that are legit, PM me if you want more info or just ask

Pre-Paid Debit cards rule.

I jsut received my first free item; an 8GB iPod Nano :) I spent roughly $25 on offers to get it, plus a few trades, but it was worth it.
I did the $1000 gift card from www.everyfreegift.com last year and got my card about 8 months later. I am doing it again under a family member's address but it's only a $500 gift card now. Still worth it for 6 offers.
How much did that end up costing you?

UPDATE WITH THISNEWNANOISFREE.COM:

I have 7 referals now and that means I only need 8 more before I can order the new nano. Things have been going fairly smoothly so far but some of the completed referals dont seem to be recognized... I will update as more info becomes available.
