Has anyone else bought and sold the same consoles over and over?

Hush

CAGiversary!
This was a bad habit of mine that I'm trying to break starting with my Xbox 360.

Back in 2001 GTAIII was the game that made me buy a PS2. Then when the Xbox came out I bought one for Halo. My g/f at the time talked me into selling the PS2 since she thought it was dumb to have more than one game system, so I did. When GTA: Vice City was announced, I bought another PS2 from eBay with a few games so I could play Vice City. At this point I decided PS2 was the only system for me so I sold my first Xbox. During the whole modding craze, I bought another Xbox and modded it and eventually bought and played Halo 2 as well. I ended up messing up the mod after some time (trying to fix a friend's which was also modded) and ended up selling it as is (it sill worked normally). At this point I still had the PS2 mentioned earlier. After some time, I was fiending for some more Halo 2 action, so I traded the PS2 in for another Xbox and Halo 2. When the slim PS2 came out, I traded the Xbox in for one. Finally, I bought my Xbox 360 and sold the slim PS2 and everything else with it. Lots of games and accessories for each system were also bought and sold/traded during this process. I also briefly owned 2 Gamecubes during all of this and I now also own a Nintendo DS.

I broke it down in my head and its something like:

3 PS2s
3 Xboxes
2 GameCubes

1 Xbox 360 (which I now own and plan on keeping)
1 Nintendo DS (ditto)

I don't plan on doing this anymore in the future as it is a huge waste of money. I don't know if I'll be picking up the PS3 or Wii yet, but I definitely won't be selling/trading the 360 or DS to get them.

Anyone else have a similar story?

I've owned 3 DCs and 2 PS2s (sold my original one and bought a slim).

Had one from like 99 or 00 - bought this at Best Buy with a warranty. The PS2 then came out, so I returned my DC (god bless that warranty) and got my $150 I paid for it (put that money towards the PS2). A couple years later, I realized the sin I had committed, so I bought a cheap one off Amazon. That one then later decided to break down on me, so I sold it as-is on eBay with some crappy games for like $60. With some of that money, I then bought another DC (which is the one I currently own), and now I probably won't get rid of it.

I've owned 3 DSs, but but never went any time without one after I first got one. Had a used Silver one, sold it when I got a graphite black one, and still have that one and got a DS Lite.

The only console I've ever bought, sold, and then rebought would be a Nintendo DS. I sold my 2nd DS for credit simply because I wanted a Lite and had no use for three of the same systems.

I've had to have gone through at LEAST 5 gameboy color and pockets when I was in middle school. Everyone was stealing everyone's gameboy because of pokemon.

DS atleast 5-6 times for various reasons. Ive had about 30-40 PS2s though. Simply 'broken' ones that needed the lens to be cleaned.

I originally bought an Xbox in the start of the current-gen console war. Two years later I bought a Gamecube on eBay. I ended up selling it in order to get a PS2. I re-bought a Gamecube, only to again sell it for a DS. I then re-bought it and just decided to keep it.

i did during the n64 and ps1 era. i went back and forth from those systems a number of times maybe 4 or 5 times over a 3 or 4 year period. starting with the n64 and ending with owning both systems. mainly because i was curious about the games on each system and i wasnt dissappointed on either count that was when re 2 had come out and both systems had their own list of amazing games to play.

Similiar to me , i've owned three gamecubes if I remember correctly, first one was a launch console, sold it for a ps2, then bought one again later ............. and it collected dust for 6 months after one game or another, sold it again. Finally last year bought one again for Resident Evil 4, now the system had gone back to collecting dust. Needless to say, i'm not buying a Wii :p

I bought an extra original XBOX as a backup for my Launch XBOX (Thompson Drive). I also bought a N64 off Ebay, then one week later picked up a brand new one at a Boscov's Outlet store for $30. I also have a few Original NES, SNES and Genesis systems that were given to me by people throwing them out.

...

Yeah, right.

My original grey brick Gameboy broke when I was around 7 so I bought a Black one, and then later bought a black Gameboy Pocket.

Yes I kept on trading in a system to get another one. It pissed me off because I kept going back to the DC which is my fouth and final one and will never be sold. Now my xbox that's a different story.

there's your problem there.

1 xbox
1 PS2 sold to get a PS Two
1 Game cube
1 N64
1 Super nintendo
1 Xbox 360
1 Gameboy Pocket
1 gameboy SP
1 Saturn
1 Dreamcast

and everything still works just fine.

3 SNES
2 N64

I had to buy a second PS2 because the first one broke. Everything else has been one and done.

No, I've kept the originals and never bought another of each.

Hahaha great topic, my brother has went through many systems through the years of buying then selling them for many years now. I always laugh at him when he tells me he sold x system because he wasn't playing it anymore then buying it 4 months later. He started doing this in high school with the SNES/Genesis.

I had a ds but i get rid of it for a ds lite. That's about it.
I also sold my dc but I later bought another one. So that would be my only rebuy.
