"Jesse Helms is back. And this time he's black."

I heard about Vernon on the radio last week when a local station played his ads to get listener responses. It took a while before I was even convinced they were real. They are so over the top, racist, homophobic, disgusting political ads I have ever heard. The problem was most of the callers agreed with him. This moron makes Rush look liberal, almost.

Click at the bottom to hear his radio commercials. They're almost comical until you realize he's not joking.

Now you may have SOME idea how the majority of American's feel when they see a moveon.org ad. The left created the tone of the debate in this country and have declared open warfare on anyone that doesn't agree with them. This is hardly as offensive as the statue of liberty depicted with a hood over its head.

Oh, black people can't be racist. Didin't you learn that yet? Jesse Jackson and Louis Farrakhan and the like can't be racist so neither can this guy. So he's an Uncle Tom? Leftist definition of any black public figure that doesn't espouse their race baiting agenda including affirmative action and reparations.

As far as gay hating? The vast majority of Americans are aginst the militant gay agenda and do not support gay marriage. Don't be shocked when member of the right co-op the same tone and tactics the left has been using for years. Sucks that the tone of debate in this country is no longer civil huh?

Yeah, I miss those days when all the people who disagreed with Clinton did so in a civilized manner. Sheesh!

Anybody can be a racist and this guy is one.

that sounds like some Limbaugh garbage to me. No offense, but Repubs have been pullin the same dirty tactics. You claim one side started it, thats crap this two party system of ours is either both to blame or none. RIght wing media is horrendous, anytime Bush does something they say nothing, but when a Dem does it they chew him out for it. Example when John Kerry made the remark about republicans in office being crooks off camera there was a big outrage on fox news, but the last election when Bush called a journalist an asshole there was hardly a peep from the Right wing media. So dont act like poor lil republicans are finally using the tools of the evil empire of liberals.

You have got to be kidding me. That is seriously f-d up.

Oh - Nice troll attempt, Pitts, but I'm not biting. There are plenty of other "Liberals / Conservatives are bad, mk?" threads on the message boards if you need a fix.

I'm curious to see if the people who hold the copyrights to the Jeopardy and Twilight Zone themes are going to ask this guy to stop using them.

Glad to see I hit the mark and the resident progressives have their panties in a bunch. That means I hit the nail right on the head the first time out.

no just because u made a faulty comment, and people commented that does not mean u won. If I said "Zelda blows" I would get comments, that doesnt mean I won, it just means people DISAGREE. Thats its no winners or losers.

I kinda like this one:

In all my years in elected office I have never voted for a tax increase. Period.

Regulation and taxation are the twin evils of the welfare state. Economics Professor Walter Williams is exactly right when he points out that we are being raped by the IRS.

The typical American family pays more in total taxes (38%) than it spends on food, clothing, and shelter combined (28%). The average family in 1998 worked three hours of every eight-hour workday to pay taxes.

If he agrees with Walter Williams, then he's ok in MY book.

And pardon me, mrbadexample, but you are living up to your moniker AGAIN. How in the world is this guy a racist? You'd better supply some proof before playing that card! Or at least give a good example.

Or do you just prefer to vomit nasty adjectives upon people you disagree with without any explanation?

Hey thanks for the "progressive" label! I usually get called much worse! In fact, if you are going to categorize and label, I prefer either "Pinko" or "Commie." Those are so retro-chic!

And don't worry about my "panties." They are boxers, and comfy as hell.

If you listened to the radio ad The Twilight Zone-The Aliens Are Here and you still don't think he's a racist, I can't help you.
That is just soooo fake.
Nope, I wish it was. But he is real and that is his campaign. He's on the city council of Winston-Salem which is only an hour from me. He is all too real unfortunately and currently leading in the polls.
BTW, Elrod, nice avatar. I always liked Fallout.
One of the best RPG's of ALL time! There have been some rumors of Fallout 3 being revived, but the publisher is having some serious money issues.

Wasteland was the only RPG I ever played through back in my C64 days. I have Fallout 1 & 2 but I haven't really played them much. I keep saying I will when I get time. I also just got Brotherhood of Steel for my buddy and me to play through.

I agreed with most of the statments he made. I saw that some people in here didn't, yet instead of stating why, they beat around the bush and insulted the guy.

I disagree with him because I'm not a racist, homophobic fearmonger. He is playing to the lowest common denominator by trying to make everyone think that the illegal (and legal) immigrants and homosexuals are trying to take over the country. If he really wants to do something about illegal immigration, he should go after the companies that hire them and barely pay them.

And the homosexual agenda is to be treated as equals, no more, no less. Gay marriage does absolutely nothing to threaten anyone. If he wants to "defend" marriage, do something about divorce.

He is playing on everyone's fears and prejudices and it's disgusting. It's ironic that he's black because 10 years ago Jesse Helms was doing the same thing with black people as the Boogey Men.

It's shameful.

Is that enough reason for you?
