Has anyone tried GameStop's in-store pick-up yet?

Normally, I wouldn't think twice about a store's ability to carry this simple task out, but this is GameStop, after all. Anyway, has anyone tried this yet with their GS pre-orders? Any issues? If I can save myself one trip, I will. Thanks.

LOLOL :applause: I haven't tried it, but if they do it for the used games that would be pretty damn awesome.

They should offer a half hour or hour service, where you can put used games that are listed as being in stock at a local store "on hold" via credit card info or whatever, then the staff has to scramble and find the used copy by the time you get there.

That way, you can even call ahead and ask if they found the copy of whatever rare/obscure game it is, and whether it's complete or not.

Same with being able to order online - you should be able to select a "ship to store" option where the used (or new) game is shipped to your local store for local pickup from one of their central warehouses.

I reserved Too Human from the website a few weeks ago and when I went to the store the other day, I asked and it was in the computer.

So it seems to work perfectly.

Works perfect actually, a friend of mine reserved SCIV for PS3 online, went to the store, they had it in comp, and paid his cash. Best part is you put no money down and you only get charged the $5 fee if you don't pick it up within 48 hours.

The only problem with this is at the store side, as the store's not actually going to be credited the reserve, so take that as you will.

On topic, NO I have NOT used the in-store pick-up. Of course, that's also because I don't have nor need a credit card at this point.

As for the poor saps who push the crappy pre-orders for GS, I'd rather if they were actually knowledgable about the games they're selling NOW moreso than pushing the other garbage that corporate is forcing them to push down my throat as soon as I walk into the store.

Now, if they actually put something USEFUL on their site, like a way to tell when a store has an actual COMPLETE copy of a game versus some scratched to shit, generic cover version that's missing the manual, THEN I might stand up and take notice.

Thanks for the info, guys. I placed the order yesterday, so hopefully, everything goes smooth.
^ Actually they do, I remember overhearing a gamestop manager discuss this with this once.
That's correct. The local store gets 100% credit for the sale (but we still get bragging rights online). ;)

Best,
Retro

Best,
Retro
As long as the store gets credit for the sale, then I'm OK with doing it, as I've been nice to my local GS and they've taken care of me for the most part over the couple of years I've dealt with them.

It would be nice to have the website in-store pickup for other new items, pre-order or otherwise. Used items would be too much of a mess to try and manage through the site, though new ones I think shouldn't be nearly an issue.
