Has Becoming a Member of CAG Ironically Made You More Poor?

I don't know about you guys, but ever since I've discovered this site, I've been spending a hell of a lot more for games. You too?

Curse you, CAG!

No. I'm spending the same amount of money, but i'm getting more out of my dollar. For example, I'm working 25-30hrs/week making minimum wage, I've got 92 XBox 360 and 221 XBox games and i'm not in debt by a single penny.

Probably not, 3 games at $49.99 - $59.99 is $165 or so average. Even if I buy 6 games at an average of $14.99, that's still a little over half of what I would have spent on the other 3 games.

While I'll buy an item at full price without thinking twice (Rock Band!), I've gotten so many great deals that I'd otherwise have missed out on. I probably don't spend a lot more than I would otherwise, but I've definitely saved on a lot of things. :)

my spending habits have increased greatly after months of exposure to CAG, but im still not poor because i saved a crapload of moola.

As a few people have already said I'm spending the same but getting more. I think CAG has changed me in that I'll avoid paying retail like the plague. I'll look at a new release and think "Well that'll likely be 50% less in a Sunday ad or in a deal in the next couple of month, I'll get it then".

I might spend a little more total on games than I used to before finding this site (sometimes several great clearances or sales will pop up within days of each other) but I'm getting way more for my buck.

Kind of hard to say. I got tired of gaming for a few years before I got my Xbox 360, which was around the same time I joined CAG.

I've certainly spent more on gaming this year, since I actually want to play games now. But whether I would have spent this much due to CAG or not is another story.

I'm probably spending around the same amount and getting more out of it, but this site has increased the amount I spend on movies. Originally my money spent on movies was like $0 a year, but now it's a little bit higher.

When I first started coming to CAG, I would buy games just because they were on sale. Anything on clearance, I bought, but thanks to the Voice of Reason - MRs. Shipwreck, I try to just find the games I actually want on sale. So far that's been a pretty good strategy.

Like w/ Stranglehold LE 49.99 whereas in the past I would have bought it at 69.99

Castlevania 29.99 - got it for 19.99

all thanks to CAG!

For the last 3 years I was definitely spending more, and now I'm selling off a bunch of the games I bought, some of the unplayed. I had as many as 350 games at one point this year. Before I found CAG I was playing maybe one new game every couple of months. Then when I found CAG it wasn't uncommon to buy 2-3 every week.

It's hard for me to tell since I've been here a few years now. So much has changed in my life since coming to CAG, that I don't know how much I would be spending on games. My guess is, as money has gotten a bit tighter in the last couple of years (making more money, but expenses have skyrocketed).

My guess is that, overall, I haven't spent more money (though, some weeks I definitely have), but I'm getting far more games for the money I have.

actually ever since joining CAG i've MADE money... I've gotten about $500 worth of stuff "free" and still getting games to play or sell.. that's the truth!

I only have so much disposable income each month so the amount I spend hasnt moved but the amount of stuff I get for my money has raised.

I have been spending about the same (a bit less, actually, when you take into account resales), but I've been getting much much much more.

Hard to say... these days, there are more games I want so I am spending more but in the past I'd pay more for a fewer number of games.

I think I've been spending more money since joining CAG, though I do get a lot more now for my money too, so its all good... I would have just bought from retail if it wasn't for this site. :D

I've been here awhile now so it did start out with me spending more than usual. At this point I pretty much spend nothing out of pocket.

i've always tried to find the best deal on games... this site just has helped me and made it much easier....

so probably i get more then i would have before spending the same amount.

Without a doubt. I started gaming again in '05 after a long absence, and I would not have nearly the library of games I do if I hadn't heard about a specific CAG deal and decided to act on it. Now, truth be told, I have a lot of games that I have logged fewer than eight hours into, and if I could go back in time and not buy those, I suppose I would. But just about everything I have purchased has been a good enough deal for the game.

so it seems as if the majority of you guys spend the same, yet receive more. interesting...

I believe i'm being a bit too compulsive when buying cheap games. For god's sake, i recently bought two copies of Trauma Center: New Blood. Two copies!!

I'm definitely spending a decent amount more than I but I'm also definitely getting much more out of the money I spend; my collection is exponentially larger than it would have been.

actually no.
i now only buy games that i REALLY want at the price i WANT to pay. kind of weird, but i don't let corporations decide what i should pay for software anymore.
damn i sound pretentious.

I admit it. I have been spending more $$ because of CAG since I know alot more deals going on. However, because of the posted trade-in deals, I am also getting back more than before too.

Overall, I would say a little bit more $$ since the awesome trades counter the purchases.

Lets see when I first joined last year oh yea I spent like crazy

I picked up a ps2 fat then a slim, then I sold the fat. I bought tons of xbox and ps2 games, jsut to play them b/c I never did, most of them sat around and gathered dust. Then had a friend mod my xbox.

But come the summer I made a few choices, sold the xbox and almost all the games. Bought a DS lite and sold it a few months later

Bought a ps3 and sold the ps2. Finally settled on the ps3 with one new game every few months.

So yes CAG helped me spend my money but I'm getting smarter and hunting down more deals before I buy.

Since I have joined CAG, I could prolly list the games I have payed full price for on one hand.

It has definitely saved me money.

Nope, especially having YourFree360game.com around is fucking awesome. When YourFreePS3games.com comes around it's gonna get even better. xD

As for me being broke... that's because of other things than gaming.
