Has Gamestop ever 'cleaned house'(got rid of all their employees) at a store near you

All of the stores near me pretty much had that happen several years ago but that was when Gamestop bought out Funcoland. I wish they would purge all of the employees from the stores closest to me since most of them are ass clowns. To this day I refuse to buy from them since they screwed me on the PS3 reservations but that's a whole other story...

I read earlier where someone mentioned the subscription percentages. They still require that? I remember back when the stores were Funcoland you had to sell Game Informer subs and video game cleaners. If I remember right the customers got a 1 year warranty on their console and the employee got a few bucks commission (and the company raked in the profit since the cost of the cleaners cost about a dollar a piece).

This happens periodically from what I have found out because they have done this several times a year at my local stores. I know of one person that has worked at every GS/EB within 20 miles of me (He isn't a District Manager either) for the last few years so depending on the people you deal with they either move on to do something else or transfer to a different location. Because I know that the closest one to me the people that started when it opened, most of them became managers at other locations.

In my area, I noticed about eight months ago that they shuffled employees, but they didn't seem to fire any. They just got moved to other stores in the area.

There are a ton of stores in my area, and when I was still looking for a Wii and randomly dropping in on stores whenever I had an excuse, I noticed many of the people that used to work in the stores closest to me had been moved to stores further out.

The only MIA is the GS employee who reminded me of the Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons. He just disappeared. Actually, now that I think about it, everyone who used to be at that GS is gone, though I know one of them was moved to a different store and not fired.
It seems as if there is an employee purge going on right now here, today I went into the ebgames store I frequent to find 2 workers in there that I have never seen before. I also got carded for preordering a M rated game even though I am 25 years old, lol.
LOL That's the best, isn't is Sara. You sure they weren't trying to flirt with you by insinuating you looked younger? I've actually been carded at the local slot casino by multiple employees, as well as one employee at a further away one I used to take relatives to sometimes before ours opened.

Thing is, the local employees were all males(I think), while the one up in NY state(Tioga Downs) was female. Me being a male, I certainly hope the local employees weren't trying to flirt with me by carding me.

Funniest part is....I'm 32(and I think I'm starting to show my age :whistle2:X).

I really don't think I am the type of person who they would try to flirt with but you never know, I am by no means "hot" nor do I try to be in any way. I do look quite young for my age though so I can see why I got carded but I don't get carded so much now as I did a couple years ago. I got carded at walmart like last year for buying a single tiny container of model car paint (you have to be 18 to buy it apparently.) Its probably more likely the ineptness of a 16-18 year old gamestop clerk to tell the ages of different people by just looking at them than anything.

Usually on the rare occasion that I am buying an M rated game they just make sure that I am aware its an M rated game. I did read a couple articles where EbStop is really cracking down on underage M rated game sales (and that not only could you lose your job if your an employee there, but you could also face jail time and other penalties) so I can see why a new employee was being extra careful by carding me.

I just always assume they need to see ID when I'm buying an M rated game, I just take out my ID out of habit. It's funny, because it is part of their job and I'll usually be the one to remind them "Oh, you need to see my ID, right?"

There was one awesome Gamestop over here (fremont hub) that had cool employess (they recommended good stuff and gave people cheat codes and tips) and I think they're disappearing. All too sadly. Nice retail people never last.

I was in Gamestop yesterday, and an employee told me that another had just been fired for sellng someone an M-rated game...meh, they guys at my GS suck anyways.

Happens every 2-3 years at my GS, the one I worked at. It usually happens when a store manager leaves, the ones I've witnessed have nothing to do with feedback or secret shoppers or any of that crap. One of them had to do with several employees stealing though. But despite this, the assistant manager has stayed there for like ten years. I wonder why he doesn't leave with all the bullshit he has to go through; nice guy too.
