Has Your Opinion Of The Wii Changed?
King Story--Not familiar with this one, so could go either way
Ghost Squad--arcade game so will be short and shallow
Zak and Wiki--never liked point and click adventure games
No More Heroes--keeping an eye on, but didn't like Killer 7 and not a big fan of action games
Manhunt 2--hated the first, can't stomach uber violent, sadistic games/films
FF Crystal Bearer--didn't like the first one on the GC

So for me right now it Metroid, Mario Galaxy, maybe Smash Bros, Mario Kart and a few other games I'm keeping an eye on like NiGHTS.

But I have faith that 2008 will see a big upswing in AAA games just like the DS did in the second year as developers will start getting a handle on the system, and more 3rd parties will be on board since the Success was so unexpected (just like it was with the DS).
What about RE: Umbrella Chronicles, Dewy's Adventure, Soul Calibur Legends, Mercury Meltdown, Dragon Blade, Forever Blue, Rayman Raving Rabbits 2, Tomb Raider Anniversary, Dragon Quest Swords, or Tales of Symphonia 2? (All third party, there should be at least a few that you might like)

I'm as much a Wii fan as the next guy, but out of that list, there's only one game I can tell will be good: Rayman (and that's only if you liked the first one). The others are unknowns, ports, or things that look like they should be good but could ultimately end up terrible (I'm looking at you, Symphonia!). Until we start seeing some evidence that companies are putting good people to work on Wii games, it's all guesswork.

Edit: To be clear, impressions from the import of DQ Swords are generally positive, so I have high hopes for that, but I'd much prefer a real DQ game than a spinoff.

I thought that the idea was amazing and was going to buy one at launch...until I came to my senses and realized that it had no games that I wanted.
Even now, the only games I want are the heavy hitters (MP3, SSBB, LoZ: TP, and Galaxy).
So now, my opinion is worse. I'm going to get one eventually, if only for those games, but there's really nothing else that I want in the slightest.

Many consoles are lucky to get that many super titles in their life time let alone in the first year.

Yeah, I'm not trying to start a list war (If such a thing exists ;)), I just was trying to help show him a few games he should maybe take a look at for his own benefit. Also, I have high hopes for Mercury Meltdown since it has gotten good reviews and ToS was my favorite GC game, so I'm really looking forward to the sequel. Dewy's Adventure also looks pretty solid and not just another crappy port.

Well, Metroid Prime 3 certainly takes the edge off. I hadn't really touched the Wii in quite some time before it, but honestly until Bioshock I hadn't touched my 360 either. I'm just pissed off because all of the games that should be no more than $30 all cost $50. Until half of the games drop in price, I'm not going to buy much more. Well, except of course for Smash Bros. and Mario.

Four is not that many (for a lifetime), and all of those being triple A is debatable.
Oh, and for what it's worth, your mom's opinion of my Wii never changes. She fuckin' loves it.

(I have completely derailed my own thread.)
That's because it's so small and easy to handle

I'll get a month's worth of play (outside of SSBB, assuming it even has online play, which Nintendo fails at spectacularly) with those four games. Doesn't really seem worth it to me.

I have been really up and down. I was mad excited for the Wii, spent 13 hours in the cold outside Toys R Us on launch. Picked up an insane amount of launch games ..Zelda, Red Steel, Rayman, Monkey Ball, and Trauma Center. I also picked up 3 extra remotes and 3 extra nunchucks because I KNEW they would be impossible to find for a while. Of those launch games..I really only liked Trauma Center and Rayman (and Wii Sports)..and that's why I felt disappointed. Red Steel was maddening, Monkey Ball was MEH to me..and Zelda..well, ya know what? Zelda is a great game..but the problem is: I really never liked Zelda games. They just weren't me..lol so because of ALL that I felt disappointed.

It went up and down this year, but wasn't until just recently that I am loving it A LOT and can't stop playing..and am VERY excited about the future.

So yes, I am loving it and am very optimistic for the future :D

Then why are you here?

I think between Manhunt 2, RE4, Smash Bros., Metroid 3, Galaxy, Zack and Wiki, No More Heroes, Forever Blue, Dewy's Adventure, Battlion Wars 2, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles, DBZ 3, and Rayman 2, I'll be pretty happy with the 2007 Wii offering.

Not trying to start a list war, but these are games I want to already have or want to pick up for the console and I'm probably going to have to get picky with what I want. Everything up to Forever Blue is a must buy. The rest is up in the air.

RE: Umbrella Chronicles--light gun-esque game, not my cup of tea
Dewey's Adventure--never like the monkey ball, marble madness type of gameplay
Soul Calibur Legends--keeping an eye on, but again don't much like action games and I've never played a fighting game spinoff I liked
Mecury Meltdown-no big on puzzle games outside of portable consoles
Dragon Blade--don't know what this is, so could go either way
Forever Blue--ditto
Rayman 2--hate mini-game collections/party games
Dragon Quest Swords-could be good, have my eye on this one
Tales of Symphonia--never got in the series and I tend to stay away from RPGs as I have a hard time getting motivated to put 30-40 hours in a game these days

I'm pretty sure I could list signficantly more than 4 AAA games for every console I've every owned (NES,SNES, N64, PSX, PS2, GC, X-Box, Wii)....

If the Wii only has these 4, I'd be hugely dissappointed. That said, I know it will end up with more. It's selling like hotcakes, the software will come just like it did for the DS.

Developers didn't jump on board as they though the Wii would either be to gimmicky and tank, or else just appeal to the same niche as the Gamecube. Not that it's sold so well they'll all be rushing to get software out, and we'll start seeing a lot more more games next year--both shit games and stuff worth playing.

I love my Wii, and I'm happy I bought it [at launch even] despite only owning 3 games so far (Zelda, WarioWare, RE4). But, with so many titles like Mario, SSBB, No More Heroes, etc on the horizon, I'm glad I have it and there won't be any need for me to desperately search out for a WII later.
Everytime I've played a game though (RE4 and TP), the controls have felt so nice. It's so confortable to be able to relax your arms will playing, and even lay down comfortably.

After finally spending some time with MP3, I have to say I am now very optimistic. They nailed the controlls on MP3 and I can't wait to see how Mario Galaxy and Smash Bros comes out. Plus there is a crapload of VC games I want to get when the dryspell starts.

YES! I think MP3 is what made me HIGHLY optimistic! I never played MP 1 or 2. I played Hunters for the DS and.. feh. I just played Super Metroid for the first time..and I usually don't like FPS..and i HATED Red Steel.. so I really was on a gamble with this game. It's amazing. Just amazing! If they can do this, then all FPS SHOULD be fun on the Wii--should not be an excuse!!

From beating Super Metroid last week.. I do love how even though it's a FPS, it's sticking with it roots! :) But that should all belong in the Metroid thread lol
