Hastings is running their Buy 1 Get 1 for 1 cent promo again, including Gamecube and Xbox games. Unlike the last few times, it includes PS2 games this time as well. Friday and Saturday only (4/18 and 4/19).

Their ad isn't online yet, but I got it in my local paper. Their website is here:

http://gohastings.com

EDIT: I suppose its also worth mentioning that they'll give you an HD DVD player add-on 'free after $50 rebate' when you buy a refurb. 360 w/ hard drive ($299.99 - hard drive included). So, it sounds like it'd be $350 for the system and HD DVD drive, then a $50 mail-in rebate. Also only good 4/18-4/19 from what I can tell.

thanks, since PS2 games are on the list I shall go check it out could get some decent deals!

any suggestions for PS2 games worth taking a look at since I got an 80gb ps3 last month?

I have GoW I/II and Persona 3 for my PS2 titles right now

If you happen upon them there, Shadow of the Colossus and Ico are awesome.
Is this online or B&M only?
Sorry, B&M only. Forgot to mention that not only are all of their sales and promos B&M only, their website is a completely useless piece of crap (aside from the store locator).

Thanks OP, I'm heading in to try and get the Jak and Silent Hill series, if they are in stock...maybe Kingdom Hearts II, if it is in.
Thanks OP, I'm heading in to try and get the Jak and Silent Hill series, if they are in stock...maybe Kingdom Hearts II, if it is in.
they'll be instock alright....overpriced.Most games have random prices.

Thanks OP :D:D:D

BTW: I'm not sure if any other Hastings are this way, but at my local one, I have to always look at the price at each game... Sometimes there'll be a difference of $20 or $30. I'm guessing a new employee that just doesn't give a crap what price they type in. I scored a copy of GTA:3 years ago when it had just came out for $4.99. And that is why I love Hastings :D:D:D

Speaking of not keeping any of their labels up to date - are there any old threads/anything in the CAG Wiki that has Hastings prices listed? Maybe just some of the 'hotter' titles to look for?

No particular titles come to mind, but somebody mentioned in an older thread that Raiden III for PS2 was $4.99 there. I picked up a lone copy of Ico once for about $12 used. So, there are certainly a few things to be found, but its somewhat of a needle-in-a-haystack situation. I've seen used games that are like 4-5 years old (and not rare at all) that they're still asking like $28 for.... things you could buy at Gamestop for like $5 to $12.

Here are a couple of old threads:

Their stuff is totally hit or miss, but if you have one nearby its worth a look. Don't make any special road trips or anything (damn gas prices!).

Their stuff is often over-priced, but when you get a second game for a penny, it can sometimes work out to a decent/good deal. Every now and then, they'll have certain things priced lower than you can find elsewhere, but that's the exception, not the rule. They also aren't typically the best at keeping their tags updated either. It's not uncommon to find a 'used' game with the Hastings bag/wrap over it and then find out that it still has the original seal underneath. My hunch is that since they are usually located in smaller towns and aren't incredibly strict about trade-ins, that they must be a popular place for people trading in stolen merchandise (or just people flipping games who don't feel like unwrapping them).

Regarding different prices on different copies of the same game.... sometimes that's just because tags on existing stock haven't been updated and a game that was put out more recently has a lower price. In my experience though, its usually because the prices between their previously-rented games and used games can differ. Also, that may come into play during this sale.... they'll probably manually do it for you if the computer won't let them include a previously rented game as part of the sale, but I'm pretty sure that ought to work anyway.

There's another thread about it already, but they are also having 30% used stuff during the two hours leading up to the GTAV IV midnight release. So, 4/28 from 10pm to midnight.

That is quite possibly the best "No one ever heard of" game I have ever played. I got mine used at EB but the outer part is scratched so I never finished the game. :bomb:

If I get this game I'll play it right after replaying Shadow of the Colossus.
is this sale at all hastings?
AFAIK, yes it is.

Yeah, I never owned a PS2 but now have a PS3 and have played through SotC and Ico.... awesome games.

They can be extremely hit and miss, as mentioned.

It's definitely worth looking around though. If you can find them, I picked up Ico for $9.99, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2 for $14.99, Firefighter F.D. 18 for $9.99, Marvel vs. Capcom 2 for $9.99, and a bunch of others. It's one of those store that you really just have to browse and you'll come away with something maybe every other visit.

They also have some of the greatest trade-in values around. You can trade in Sonic on the PS3 for $24 in store credit (and get another $5 thanks to the PlayHastings coupon.

Went by there today, no signs up yet. I'm afraid to ask them about the promotion, because I know I will get the blank stare face with the usual "Uhh, if the sign isn't there, were not running it" lame response. I do have a soft spot for the store though, it's where I found my $20 sealed Valkyrie Profile for PS1!

thinking the same thing, is it worth driving 60+ miles for the sale? I'm off work today so i just might

One hour for a sale? I dont know. man. Unless you have no games to play right now.

Im gonna scroll through mine, since they do have a pretty vast selection. hopefully i find some treasures in the games like i did in the dvds (Elfen lied complete 4 discs with artbox $17.99 + tax
hmmmm Now to figure out if its worth driving an hour to it.

thinking the same thing, is it worth driving 60+ miles for the sale? I'm off work today so i just might
If my local store is any indication, I'd say no, its not worth the drive. But since every store's selection is different, who knows. It'd be pretty crappy to get all the way out there and not find any good deals though.

I went by my store at opening this morning to take a peek. They weren't aware of the sale, didn't have any current ads sitting out, and still had the signage up from the previous B1G1 for a penny sale, which did not include PS2 games. Luckily, the computer handled the discount automatically.

Unfortunately, Nothing really caught my eye. I ended up buying the first Pikmin and the first God of War, both marked $17.99, so I got both for $18 + tax.... which seemed like a great deal, until I opened them. GoW looks decent I guess, has the manual and everything but the condition of the disk leaves something to be desired. Pikmin is in pretty piss-poor shape though. It has one of those incredibly obnoxious ring-shaped stickers on the middle of the disk from some rental chain I've never even heard of (PVA Video I think it said). So, I try to delicate peel it off and it leaves behind a layer of silver adhesive crap with the outline of the word 'VOID' in it. The disc looks like somebody with a serious mental disability resurfaced it too. I haven't even tested to see if it works, I might just go return it over lunch. I was thinking I might be able to put it up on eBay or something, but they aren't even fetching that much and I'd hate to sell somebody a disc like this. I already own Pikmin 2, so I think I may just return both games over lunch and call it a day.

I also saw Eternal Darkness (GC) for $9.99 but nothing else of note (to me at least).

So yeah, you might find a good deal or two, but I'd check the discs before you drive off. They have these annoying bag/wrappers on their used games that pretty much have to be torn off to open them (sealed shut with an adhesive flap), so I doubt they'd let you check the condition before purchasing.

Oh, and just in case anybody in Denton is reading this, they did have one Wii in stock in the games case. But it was a bundle in a box with some other stuff. Didn't really look at it, but I think it came with 2 games or something.
My Hastings has been doing this for months now.
The B1G1 for a penny has been around a while (on and off if I'm not mistaken), but this is the first time I'd seen it include PS2 games.

Meh, my hasting's game prices are all over the place.

Often they charge $20 for a game you can get on ebay for $5, or the used price will be $1 lower than the new price. My hastings is huge ripoff in every way.
The B1G1 for a penny has been around a while (on and off if I'm not mistaken), but this is the first time I'd seen it include PS2 games.
The last B1G1 for a penny sale was the first time I'd seen one that didn't include PS2 games.

Also, I'm suprised to hear about the condition of your games. My Hastings is very anal about the condition of games they take. Even the slightest scratch will disqualify it. Their clearance rentals are usually very good as well, though much more hit and miss. I think they forget to resurface them on occassion.

I will wait to get off work (6pm) and stop by at the Denton store. I have my fingers crossed that I can get Resident Evil 4 for ps2 and Halo 2 for $18 plus tax.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I saw both of those..... def. RE4 for GC, don't remember if they had it for PS2 though.

I live in Denton mkernan! I already have a Wii otherwise I would be all over that. Anything on Xbox catch your eye? Perhaps Black or ninja gaiden?

their prices are horribl, I went there to check out various games and prices.. damn expensive, some games even marked more than the GH prices.. and only 2 bucks off used for GH on PS2.. blah
I live in Denton mkernan! I already have a Wii otherwise I would be all over that. Anything on Xbox catch your eye? Perhaps Black or ninja gaiden?
Awesome. I didn't look for Black, but I've seen it there in the past, so maybe. They definitely had like 3 copies of Ninja Gaiden, I think they were $9.99 (original NG, not NG Black).

If you go to the Denton store, there's also a shelf out in the aisle in the middle of the music department, near the kiosk with some stuff on it (mostly crap though).

Hmmm I was wanting NG Black but I might have to settle for original NG. Kinda getting in the mood for it since the new one comes out soon.

Prices do kind of suck. And everything is supposedly "used". I got

PS2 Games

Viewtiful Joe - 4.99 and brand new woo

Raiden 3 - 0.01 but costed 4.99 intially ....new as well

Nightmare of Druaga - 9.99 brand new....even with weird overlay with a Spanish language manual

Zone of the Enders - 0.01 but usually 9.99 used but just a few easy to clean fingerprints...near mint

Silpheed - 4.99 used but mint with just one fingerprint on the dvd

Mobile Light Force 2 - 0.01 new very nice usually 4.99

Mega Man X Collection - 17.99 used but mint condition

Shadow Hearts Convenant - 0.01 used usually 9.99 but in nice mint condition

Very nice overall. May go back since they have God of War 2 for 17.99 and could get it along with something else. Also used DVDs have a buy 1 get 1 a penny also. Hope other people make a nice raid, and so glad I got 3 shooters....woo!

Went in and had no luck - they had no copies of any Silent Hill game, only had used copies of Jak II (sticker said $18, may be lower), and one used copy of Kingdom Hearts II (listed at $22, and is probably lower.) No worthwhile NGC games, either (they had Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, but without the bongos.)

I tried to get some PS2 RPGs at my Hastings and I was told I couldn't since "they were still sealed" and didn't count for the sale. Argh.
I tried to get some PS2 RPGs at my Hastings and I was told I couldn't since "they were still sealed" and didn't count for the sale. Argh.
Well, yeah... the sale is on used stuff... so it'd have to say 'used' on the price tag (and maybe clearance rentals too I would assume).

I went in last night and got godhand and god of war II but they didnt give me one for a cent so im going back today with the ad and probably just returning both of them.

Hastings pricing (at least here in spokane) is really off at times. I would pick up two copies of the same game and one would be 19.99 and the other would be 4.99. Wierd...
Yeah, I'm pretty sure I saw both of those..... def. RE4 for GC, don't remember if they had it for PS2 though.
No go for me. I want RE4 for PS2 and they did not have it!!! I swear I saw 2 nice copies a week ago.

I couldn't find anything else to add to my Halo 2, so I just chilled and didnt get anything

did you have them scan them? the prices aren't different the employees are just lately. i've seen games marked 49.99 that scan at 4.99

The XB/GC B1G1 has been running since February, good to see it includes PS2 games now.

Because one is a previous-rental and the other is used. The renals are usually the cheaper of the 2

D'oh, nearest store is over 500 miles away. I always see Hastings deals but thought they were a Canadian company for some reason.

For comparison purposes, has anyone seen copies of any Silent Hill (PS2) games while at the store for this sale, and if so, what was the price?
