Have you ever played WoW
The thing is SEGA is not even trying when they put Phantasy Star Online. What is so great about PSO is the game itself plays like a Regular Phantasy Star or even Zelda. PSOffline is the Phantasy Star equivelent to Zelda: OOT.
Phantasy Star Online dosen't play anything like the Phantasy Star games. A lot of people, myself included would really like a real Phantasy Star. (Although maybe not, given Sega's recent record of destroying great series.

On the topic of MMORPG's there is no such thing. It is an RPG or not an RPG. PSO did the job of a MMORPG very well. Where you can just hang around and chat, play ball in the ball room, raom the world of PSO, gain various items, and even build a relationship. Yes going into a game is limited to a party of four but at least it is diffrent everytime you go.

It depends on how narrowly you define it. Even if you include things like Diablo II and Phantasy Star Online as MMORPGs, they're clearly not the same thing as World of Warcraft or Final Fantasy 12 or Everquest.
Personally I don't think Diablo II or Guild Wars or Phantasy Star Online count as MMORPGs, as most of the gameplay is just standard online, not a large world you're exploring with other people. It's basically a chat system integrated with a normal multiplayer game.

WOW, FF11, and EverQuest is a joke when compared to PSO.

Huh? I think most people would disagree with that. They're not really even the same genre, but WoW is just amazing compared to anything I've seen in PSO.

it was fun..stopped playing because school was getting CRAZY, plus, its alot more fun when you play with friends..some of my friends finally got into it (after bashing me for playing..) so gonna play with them over xmas break and over summer :)!

I played Wow for 2 month then lost interest. I had played Everquest, Final Fantasy XI, Linage 2, and City of heros. All of them I played about 2-3 months and then I lost my interest in the game. Most of the MMORPG get very boring after you got around level 20-30, thats the lvls where you have to grind for hours to get a lvl. Then I asked myself WTF am I doing this? I have better things to do, so I just quit.

Wow is fun but its just too damn easy, so I lost my interest the quickest.
The thing is PSO is just Phantasy Star the game but it is on the internet. When you go online you get to make your adventures and exploration threw the world of Phantasy Star.

EverQuest and WOW has too many dickless dorks, geeks, and $$$$s. The EverQuest Community is the real world is scary looking. WOW gameplay is like playing DAD or Wizard and Warriors online.

I do not hate DAD but I prefer a Japanese Online game over a European Harry Potter Lord of the bleh any day.

On the topic the original Warcraft was and is kinda boring and meaningless when you think about it. I mean all these Stratergy games yet have poor stratergists out there bombing this and that.
