Have you guys started stockpiling the GGC at Best Buy?

I started stockpiling them when I noticed they introduced the console specific GGC. It seems there's only a small amount of the old version left at my BB. I have about 9 of them right now.

I always feel a little embarressed going up to the counter with more than 3 or 4, asking to put $1 on each of them. I'm not afriad of getting rejected...it's just weird pulling such an obvious grift.

Hey btw are they starting some kind of new 29.99 print run? Because the ones I've been getting (05' green) still say 19.99

So then put $15 or $20 on them, since you need to spend that much anyways to take advantage of the savings.

Not all of us have/feel like spending 60-90 dollars at one time on GGC's. (15$ x 4-6 GGC= 60 to 90$). It's much easier to put 1-5 $ on each card and pay the rest later.

yeah, it is much easier for you to do that....but than its also much easier for best buy to see that we're taking advantage of this great deal that they offer us....which is now dwindling down because of all of the obvious people who are ruining it....

Well my bestbuy has a limited # of the new GGC and they will all be gone soon. After buying Christmas presents I simply do not have 60-90, so what am I supposed to do? Only thing I can do is buy 5 and put 1$ on each. That's all I can afford

Yeah, why not put $5, as you keep saying you can? $5 is a respectable amount; it's not an obvious grift, you're putting on it as much as they typically ask as a minimum amount, everybody's happy.

Besides, they've already done away with the good GGC. If we're not careful, they may do away with these new ones as well.

I've always bought them with either $5 or the game purchase price, so I wasn't breaking that rule.

I did pick up a few with $5 each on them for 6669, because she didn't have any nearby at all, then picked up some for myself.

No sign of them re-stocking at my main BB, though I'll look in the next few days and see if they have.

Plenty of the $29.99 ones around.

I have six which should last me through '05.

I had three but there were absolutely no $20 GGC's left. Then one day I'm walking through BB and they have a new, very small stack on a shelf. I picked up three more.

No i was never a big GGC person, usually when I buy a new game that I cant wait for a price drop I go to BB get on line and put 45 or 35 or whatever on the card, leave then enter, use card and coupon, that was my GGC extent

I've just started a system where if I know I'm going to be buying something at best buy pretty soon I go ahead of time and buy a few gift cards with $5 on each of them.

A good example was this weekend when I found out Madden was going to be $20, I went on Saturday and picked up 3 GGC with $5 each on them. Then on Sunday I went back, used my 3 gift cards and one of the coupons to pick it up.

I've never seen an '05 $19.99 one. All the ones at my Best Buys are the console specific $29.99 ones.

Even the '04 $19.99 ones have been gone for about a month.

A few of the BBs in my area have a very small number of the 04 GGC, none of the 05 GGC and a huge supply of 03 GGC. How very nice.

Wow... you guys got away with putting $1 on each card? Hell, I felt silly going in with a friend, they'd buy the card, I reimburse them, then I go buy my game with that fresh giftcard/coupon.

Overall though, hell, if BB allows it... do it I guess.

Yesterday a manger at my BB said that they still accept the coupon that expired on 12/31/03 because they still sell the giftcard. May be worth checking out if your store still has any of those.

I've got 6 of them. I was at another BB that had a whole stack of them but I didn't pick them up. Maybe I should have. I might check back there after Xmas. We'll see. They had at least 10 of them.

I picked up the three that my BB had last time I was in. After the new year, when I go to pick up Zelda: Minish Cap, I'll probably buy whatever other ones I can find.

I have seen both the console specific gift cards and this new '05 green one that says 19.99 at my bestbuy. I dont know how the continuation of running those is though.

::puts on flame suit::

I've got about 35 of them.

I've been picking up 3-5 of them pretty much every week, with $10 on each, since I found out they are about to be gone.

I seem to average about a game per week and I also give these to a few friends when they buy games from Best Buy as well so I don't think 35 of the coupons will last me even though half of next year. I noticed one of my local Best Buy's had about 100 of the Green $19.99 and up GGC yesterday. I've been considering just buying up another 20-30 of them later this week when I go to finish my Xmas shopping.

I saw a 2003 one in a BB the other day. I thought it was kind of funny, but I didn't pick it up.

I would get a few of them, but....meh I'm too lazy, last one I got was for MGS3. I just have to hope they have some when I go there next time.

I wouldn't even worry about being flamed for that, hey you're at least putting $10 on each one. I just buy like 4 at a time with $5 on each. Then next time I go to BB I use all my gift cards. Right now I have 2 of the 2004 coupons left, and 4 of the 2005 coupons.

I have only one 2005 19.99 and higher GGC that I'm saving for a special occasion. I only found that one by chance and it seemed to be the only one that they had of that one. The rest they have are tons of 2004 expiring ones and the new console specific ones. They also had a few of the 2003 GGCs. I would get some more but they don't have any. Really sucks too.

Someone recently did a whole thread on the new GGCs, complete with pictures of all of the new ones. And yes, there is a "$5 off any game $19.99 or more" one for 2005 (although they've taken off the "or game accessory" part).

And for that you own, shrike. For that you own.

I have 8 , $5 off $19.99 & up ('05 exp), coupons in my wallet, and I will buy any more that I see . I usually put $1 on each & make up some B.S. My favorite one is that they are for a child's b-day party grab-bags, and I already bought a $20 one for the grand prize .

I don't think we should be blaming eachother for them taking down the deal. It was bound to happen no matter how much we put on our cards, only reason BB did it was to draw in people who usually didn't buy games from them to grab some new customers who'll go to them for their gaming needs.

I do what I can for my fellow CAGs.

That was Shrike4242. He made the thread a little while ago. Here is the link.[/quote]

The joys of the camera phone and quick work with snapping quick pics. :D

Thanks for finding my thread on that, Trakan, saved me from finding it on my own. :applause:

That may or may not be true. I mean the BB near me still carries them and has tons of the 2005 19.99 and up left so my guess is that few people around here take advantage of that. I think that stores that are taking these off the shelves are the ones that have been abused the most by them. Of course that is just one guess, and noone except BB corporate knows the real answer.

This doesn't mean I blame anyone here for using the GGC, I mean it's there so save the money. I'm just saying it's likely that they're taking them off the shelves as a reaction to fact they're probably used more by "devil customers" then as gifts.

It's Best Buy's policy to allow a minimum of $5 on their gift cards however it's up to the cashiers to enforce it. I'm not sure why they can't adjust the computer system to only allow gift card amounts of $5 or greater.

I've noticed at one of the Best Buys in my area that they have none of the 2005 $19.99 gift cards in the general store areas but thay have a ton of them located behind the customer service desk. I picked up 5, which should last me about 5 weeks.
