Having trouble with the Battlefield 2 demo- I've tried everything!

Ok, so I installed the demo, here are my specs:

2.21 ghz Athlon 64
1 gb RAM
Geforce 6800 256 mb (could be more)

I get the black screen, then I get kicked back to the desktop every time I try and run the demo. I've tried the following:

-Updated the drivers.

-Brought down the refresh rate and resolution on my monitor.

-Deleted the profile folder from the Battlefield 2 folder in my documents.

-Used command line entries to try and get game to boot in certain resolution.

Nothing has worked.

Might have just got a bad DL. Remove all. Re download from a different site. Re install.

You should be able to run it fine with that rig.

Nothing has worked.[/QUOTE] I have similar specs as you, 2.4 ghz athlon 64 fx-53, 1gig ram, ATI X800XT PE. And while I can run the game, both demo and full version, It will crash on me in the middle of playing. Only I get the blue screen of death and the only way to get out of it is with a reset.

I have a feeling this game needs major updates and patches fast.

Though the game itself should tell you, make sure you're running Direct X 9.0c. It requires that version to run.

my setup is almost exactly like yours, but i have not had this happen. is it possible that someting got screwed up in the process of downloading the demo?

heres a tip I got from someone on the boards regarding battlefield 2
try turning off all firewalls , all instant messagin programs , any try and download it again . try fileshack, fileplanet, megagames, and even filerush.
