Amazon has Toshiba's HD-A2 player for $248.99. Free shipping. And Toshiba is still running the 5 free HD DVDs promotion until the end of September.

Actually, the 5 HD DVDs by mail deal is over at the end of July...and it has to be mailed in by the end of Aug.

And I got my free ones in the mail the other day, and three of the movies (all universal films) had cases that were purposely scarred by looks like a router set at 1 or 2mm deep being dragged across the UPC code...similar to 'cut out' back in the day with LPs and cassettes. I'm sure it was done so they couldn't be returned to a retail store but now the cases look kind of messed up with a big scratch on back. Just makes me feel better that I'll be costing Universal some sales when I put them on Ebay.

People over at AVS are reported burn marks through the UPC on Universal titles.

Your right about it being extended to sept but the forms on both amazon and even the official HD DVD site ( www.TheLookAndSoundOfPerfect.com ) still show the 7/31 cutoff date....but toshiba's HD site has the forms with a cutoff date of 9/30
