Trying to explain the problem to a live rep, they told me to hold on. The best luck I've had is two items I want but the cart just randomly changes to different titles. Too bad I've found like 15 I want. lol

Everytime I went to check out, it was adding random titles into my cart. I finally was able to get it to work though and bought Knocked Up for $10.94 including shipping. Not the greatest deal in the world, but decent. Nothing else really screamed must purchase for me.

Wish they had "I am Legend"" or "Zodiac" on HD-DVD.

so i emptied my cart of the random crap and everything else, making it totally empty.

then i went back to my cart and it gave me apollo 13. wtf. srlsy i want Dune and others dagnabit.

It may just be a coicidence but it seems if you go to the individual page for the dvd then ad it to the cart your cart will be right. if i try to add them from the big list of titles i get random ones.

I bought 6 of them. I just spoke to Michelle on live chat. She said that there was a problem on the link they had on the big promotional banner. They fixed it.

Got Seabiscuit, Serenity, Smokin Aces, Dune, and Being John Malkovich. $44 overall, which is only $8.50 per movie. Best deal on new HD if they have stuff you want.

Mine ended up being less than $9 per movie, which I still thought was pretty good, considering they mostly all go for between $12 and $19 in places like Amazon and DeepDiscount.

seriously... when will people stop posting "ends up being 10 dollars per disc... not worth it" Seriously its been said before...
you sure? i just added 9 movies and it was only 18.25
I should of stated it's on inetvideo.ca not inetvideo.com

i just picked up 5 movies. the site is working just fine now. i think it is crap that they are charging $2.00 a piece for shipping but still a good deal. There are copies for serenity left too. i picked one up. cant wait to see if it in HD

Its an hd-dvd sale, so i'm pretty sure you'll get the hd-dvd version...

Got The Deer Hunter, Elizabeth, Dawn of the Dead (2004), Land of the Dead, Streets of Fire, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. and Being John Malkovich for $58.88 shipped. That's $8.41 ea. Considering I paid $7.95 (incl. tax) plus gas and wear and tear during the Hollywood blowout, this is close enough for government work.

For grins, I went and put together the same order at Deep Discount and it would've been $92.25. Zoiks!

Damn it...was gonna try to hold out till next month before I buy anymore movies but just couldn't pass up on this offer. Bought 11 movies, with shipping was just over $8 bucks each. I love buying HD-DVD's for that cheap.
Ouch shipping on 8 movies is $28
magiic, it's bad when you're saying it's painful shipping, and it's in the same county.

I scored 11 movies, and it was a little less than $9 shipped per movie. Went back and forth a few times with it, and yes, the shipping charge is very painful. Still, they were some of the cheapest HD-DVD's I could find, and had I not bought a number of them previously through Amazon.com and Best Buy B1G1's, I probably would have bought easily twice as many more.

One more thing. The CA site will display prices in Canadian dollars by default, though there's a drop-down to change it to US dollars. In that case, the movies on the .CA site are $6.06 each.

It also looks like they made a quick new mini-site for the HD-DVD sale, which works quite well at the moment.
So what are the chances we see most of these movies on Blu-ray in the near future?
Pretty good, one would think, but obviously at retail. That's why I got the 360 add-on after the price drop. Cheap HD movies for the win.

just jumped on 6 more for 50.84

not bad imo since i got a few titles I really wanted for a while.

prior order placed was 30.21 for 4 hds

so total this sale has me down 80 bucks for ten movies... not bad at all.

I wonder how many sales they're losing because the people lured in by the $6 HD DVDs flip out when they see the shipping will average ~$2.50 a disc? If they were charging $9 ea. with "FREE SHIPPING", I'd wager not a peep of discontent would be heard.

I bought 7 discs and while $42 was the disc price, the $17 in shipping startled me until I divided the per-disc charge out. If they charged $8 ea. and a buck for shipping, it'd be more than the original price, but they'd sell more.

A study was done that revealed that people would by more of a product when it was 3/$1 (33 cents ea.) than when it was a quarter. People would pay more for less gladly.

Totally different concept. A: 3/$1 makes stupid people feel like they're getting a deal, since most people, in my experience, inherently suck at basic math. B: They are compelled to buy the 3 items to get the "deal", even though most places would just charge the divided per-item price for 1. If an item has a single unit price, people will just buy what they need.
Are they still getting movies in stock after it goes out of stock? I waited until today to order, but all but one of the movies I wanted are sold out.
There are movies in their ebay store that are shown as out of stock on their website, but I don't know if that means they have separate stock for each.

im sure they have seperate stock for each. you need to have something to sell if the auction does go through.

Hey, it's kinda fixed! We're not all sharing the same shopping cast now. Might have to bite.

One question: Don't have Blu-Ray, but I've noticed, in older Universal HDDVDs especially (most of what's available here), that the transfer on most older movies is a little on the crap side. With a shipping gouge like this, I'm wondering if I should wait for the BR?

If the titles ever actually arrive on Blu-ray expect them to be a carbon copy of the HD DVD. Universal has no real plans of remastering titles unless they are very bad (Traffic) considering how poorly catalog titles sell on both formats. Spending $10-20k to remaster a film for it to sell 3-4k a month is not a smart thing to do. Out of sheer luck Universal is re-releasing The Mummy's on BD that have been re-done, but this would have happened regardless if HD DVD was still around (to tie-in with the new Mummy 3).

Short answer, don't expect any of the titles to be re-done to look better. They won't. Its not worth it especially for a format (BD) that is selling less then 1% of DVD.

Just grabbed Bourne Supremacy, Red Dragon, and Knocked Up for $27 after shipping. Pretty awesome deal, thanks OP!

In for Doom, The Kingdom, Spartacus, and Dragonheart (more later if they restock, especially for Mallrats). Thank, OP!
