I'm an HDMI virgin and I'm about to jump headfirst into it. My TV supports it , I have a premium 360 with HDMI port, and Im going to get a new DVD player and the one Ive got my eyes on supports it.

questions:

1. If I buy the DVD player and a HDMI cable, will it support it "out of the box" through the TV speakers? Or do I need a seperate audio source?

2. For the 360, I understand Im pretty much forced to get the Microsoft HDMI cable just for that, it says something about an "audio adapter" on that, but its a bit confusing, does that need the seperate audio as well?

What I want to do is just hook up the HDMI from the DVD player to the TV and use the TV speakers, but I do not know if this is possible, same with the 360.

never mind, I answered my own damn question, less than 5 minutes after asking it

The 360 HDMI cable has a dongle to use only if you have a seperate audio source, otherwise it uses the TV speakers. I'm probably right in assuming its the same for the DVD player.

HDMI carries video AND audio. So if you connect your xbox or a dvd player up to a tv via HDMI the sound will come through the TV speakers. There are different ways to set it up, if you choose, but it sounds like the "default" is exactly what you want anyway.
