HDTV and HDMI

CAGiversary!
Alright so hears the deal, I am looking to upgrade the tv I have now to an HD on black friday. Where I sit for gaming is about 5 ft away from tv and when I am just watching tv I am either 5 or 10 feet away. My question is what is a good size tv to have for this room format? What should I go with, 720p 1080i or 1080p? Also, the HDTV is going to be used a lot for gaming. Whats the best cable to get to connect my ps3 to the TV? HDMI? Where can I pick a cheap on up?

I'll be the second of the next twenty people to say "monoprice"

BTW, why you sit 5 ft. away, the father in me has to say 'your gonna go blind'

Third just forget 1080i, 720 is fine and most likely will do your 1080i upgrade, but not necessary. 1080p for Blu-ray

5 feet isn't that bad. Its not like I can move any farther away from it though. It's in the corner of my room and my computer is in the other. My guess is that I am going with a 32 inch 720p. Is that a good one? Will i notice a big difference in 720p and 1080p if im just on a 32.

32'' should be fine 5+ feet away. I'd opt for a 1080p so I won't have to upgrade too soon in the future once blu-ray gets to be even cheaper than it is now.

Well the good thing is that I have a PS3 which has blu-ray already. So I am looking for 1080p. What are the chances of a 32 inch 1080p around 400-500 for black friday?

how old are you??? Just cause you'll have this tv for awhile and eventually will have a larger viewing area to put it in, I'm guessing.

Black Friday thoughout the holiday season I'm sure you'll find one at that price point.

HDMI they're pretty much all the same, just make sure both ends are male

still livin with the folks???? save the money u were gonnaspend on the tv and get an apartment, then get a room mate with phat tv to hook your systems up to

At 5' away, 32" is fine, larger can be overwhelming (you kind of have to pick the spot on the screen you want to look at), and 720p versus 1080p differences at that size are negligible.

Put the $500 towards your student loans. If you don't have any student loans, use that $500 to go to school. Do anything you can so that you learn that hears isn't really here's.

32" & 1080p is not neccessary at that screen size. You'd be better served with a 720p with fast rsponse time than an 8ms 1080p.

monoprice for your hdmi and just figure out what length you need and order the cheapest one.
