Hello,
I just bought a new LCD TV and I'm trying to get my Xbox to work with it. My Xbox HDTV AV cables are on their way but I was toying around with the Xbox dash board and I can not find the setting where you can select your resolution.

This screen:

When I go to my video options all I see are the options to set it for wide screen. There are no options for 480 p, 720 p, or 1080i. Do I need an update for my Xbox Dashboard or something?

Any help would be very appreciated.

Actually, it asks you if your TV supports those resolutions. If it does, then select yes for all of them. Say for example, you have a game that does 720p, then it will display it in that. If your TV doesn't it'll just go to the standard 480 (i or p, I don't know honestly). If that makes any sense to ya. If you want to set the dashboard for 480p, what you have to do is is press and hold both thumbsticks down then at the same time pull both triggers

My Xbox doesn't ask me if my TV supports those resolutions, I just get the three selections for normal, letterbox, and wide. Will I get the option to select resolutions when I hook up my Xbox using the Xbox High Definition AV Pack?

Then, tt may only say that when you use the component video cables. I've never paid attention to those settings when I had it connected to my old standard tv. You could always try updating the dashboard. Hopefully someone here knows more than I do at the moment.

I can't say for sure on the original Xbox, but the 360 will not give you the options unless you have the HD cables hooked up and the HD switch turned on (physically on one end of the cables). I imagine the orginal Xbox is the same.
