Hi all,

I was hoping to again turn to the cheapass experts for some help. I haven't had to do tv research for at least a year since I got my 40" Samsung LCD, and I now find myself in the position of trying to get a tv for my dad for Father's Day. My price point is ~$600, and I'd obviously like to get as much as possible (size, definition, contrast, etc.) for that. I'd like to try and get him a 40" display, though I know it's going to be tough at the price point. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Without much research, Wal-mart has a 42" Vizio 1080p in their ad this week for $747.

It might be a bit cheaper at Sam's, and there might be a possibility of less quality from WM, a rumor I've heard for many months now. I've no clue if it's true or not.
