HDTV Help

I'm currently looking for a new LCD HDTV in the $400-600 range. While over at Tiger Direct, I came across this Konka 32" set. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2329640&Tab=0&NoMapp=0 It seems too good to be true, it has all the inputs I could want and the price isn't too bad. My problem is, I have never heard of Konka and am not really sure where to look for info about them. Cnet only has 1 Konka listed tv and its not this one.

Can anybody help me evaluate this potentially sweet television?

For that price I would look at some of the better "B" brands, such a Viewsonic, Visio, Westinghouse, or even Syntax. Oh an avoid TigerDirect.

just googling Konka, apparently they are the number 2 maker of TV sets in China. They just got into the HD market and are trying to go globaly with their sets.

That said. I wouldn't buy a Konka.

I would check out avsforum.com and see if anyone there knows anything about the set.

I completely agree with this post. Vizio has some of the best reviews for low budget HDTV's.

I'm gonna head out to the local Tiger Direct outlet to check it out first-hand. Couldn't hurt to take a look at it.

My initial choice had been a Vizio, but there's the $400 20" and then there's the $700 32." Thats a steep increase, not even a 27" in between.

But buying a cheap no name tv is one of those things that will come back to bite you in about a year or so.

Do yourself a favor, and try go with a westinghouse, or Viso, or Vizio (two different companies btw) Like I said save for the Vizio they have the best budget HDTV's.
