HDTV question

Hey guys,

My Sharp Aquos LC42D62U I bought back in 2007, has started to show these semi transparent parallel horizontal lines on the display after being on for a half hour or so.  With the backlight dimmed, they're not that noticeable but I am concerned it may be on the way out.  Do you guys have any ideas what could be causing it?  It showed up on both HDTV inputs from different sources.  Click on the pic for a bigger picture.

What do you recommend for a new HDTV?  Looking for something 46-55", don't need a Smart TV, don't care about 3D, would be used mostly for gaming and movies.

If you want the best picture available and can handle a thick, heavy TV, I'd highly suggest a plasma. No smart features to fiddle around with. This is the best time to pick one up!

I own a Panasonic TC-P60U50 and absolutely love it. Any of their plasmas are top notch!

If you're looking for a slimmer TV, pick up a Vizio. They're affordable and offer one of the best pictures out there for LED/LCD. Unfortunately, newer TVs are all smart and you'll be forced to pay for it... even though EVERYONE has Chromecast, Roku, Xbox 360/1, PS3/4, etc. nowadays.

And yeah, don't get 3D. It's a joke and will be phased out in the next few years.

If you want more educated advice on whats happening to your TV I suggest visiting AVS forums.

If you really want a Plasma get a kuros or get a vt60, these were discontinued earlier this year and are getting harder to find. I invested 4K into my new television and I'll tell you that you wont be disappointed, the picture is phenomenal.

 
Plasmas are the best for gaming, but you have to be wicked careful the first 200 hours or so. You can still burn them in.

But yea, plasmas usually have the best picture and refresh rate for less lag while gaming.

I got a Samsung 32" LED TV a few months ago and it's not a SmartTV.
