Earlier this week at Best Buy, I noticed they were selling a Heat Guy J set containing Volumes 1 through 3 for $19.99. The volumes usually sell for $20-$25 each. I've checked a couple of websites, including Best Buy's, and I haven't seen it listed anywhere else.

I ended up getting it for $17.99 when I purchased it with The Bourne Supremacy (10% off any regularly priced DVD).

Is Geneon releasing more of these 3-packs at bargain prices?

It was apparently aird on MTV2 as City Guy (or something weird). I cant explain it really..too weird..yet good. why am i responding? :)

You can't compare it to any other anime I may have already seen?

First, if you saw Heat Guy J on MTV you saw crap. They literally use some wierd pan and scan on the image. It absolutely mutilates the show. So if you saw it on Mtv don't take that at face value.

As for the show itself, I'm a big fan of Heat Guy J. It has a very modern look and feel to it. My modern, I mean modern style of Japanese animation. But the story is very old school. It's basically an action anime. I've only seen the first half of it. It's very episodic with recurring characters. Sort of like Cowboy Bebop in flow.

It's about the typical slacker/badass police officer who has been assigned to a new police unit who's goal is to prevent crimes before they occur. He's partnered with the only legal android in the city, which is Guy. There's a crime syndicate run by Vampyre. Different levels of cities. It's slightly fluffy but it's great fun. It's good to see an anime that every once in awhile doesn't take itself too seriously but isn't silly either.

Thank you OP! I said I wasn't going to buy any more DVD's, but this was too good to pass up. The three pack lists for $60. It can be bought at a street price of $45.

I paid $18 after the 10% off F&F coupon. That's $6 per disc. Sweet!

No problem. I originally thought it was a price mistake - that they stuck the wrong sticker on it, but then it scanned for $19.99. I had been wanting to start watching this series and for that price there was no way I was going to pass on it.

Maybe Best Buy will carry the Last Exile 3 pack as well for that price...

The only drawback to this is no box! I think I'd rather have the 1/2 off deal going on with the Geneon titles and have a nice box to keep them in with it.

But hey, I'm a conniseur. If boxes aren't your thing, go for it!

I haven't opened mine yet but it does come in a small plastic box with an insert. It's not as nice the other one but it still looks sharp. Also, the second box holds volumes 4-7 so if you buy this and then get the other box weith disk seven you'll still have boxes to hold them all.

As for Last Exile, it's on sale at Rightstuf.com for $120. But the sale ends tonight. It doesn't seem avilable agt DDD, which is odd.

I bought Volume 1 with collector box when it's first out but stopped right there. So this is a good deal for me, but the problem is now I have 2 vol 1

I picked this up last week: it rang up as $19.99, but the price tag on it was $14.99, so the cashier knocked the price down to that. Sweet! :) Probably YMMV - I picked up my copy at the BB in Laurel, MD.
