Heath Ledger Found Dead
Heath Ledger is now the new Brandon Lee: a rising star dead before his time. DK will probably do more business now because of morbid fascination with Ledger.

RIP.
Plus their last charactors were guys with white faces.

I would have prefered joker to be a bit more classy. He always struck me as a 1920s gangster gone nuts. Dressed to the nines, but crazy as hell.

This news greatly saddened me. My name is Heath. I sure hope nothing happens to Heath Miller now.

Not only that I really liked him as an actor too. I thought A Knights Tale was bad ass and really looked (looking??) forward to the new Batman. Shitty shitty news.

It does suck he has a 2 year old. Wierd how you nor I ever heard shit about him having any type of problems before. I dunno why but it reminds me of Cobain, I guess the post about the 27s or 28 like he was. I suppose it's a bright light that famous artists have shining on them.

I got home from 8 hours of classes a few minutes ago and I come on AIM to hear this from my best friend. I thought she was joking because she was talking about how the apt was supposedly owned by Mary-Kate Olsen. (http://community.livejournal.com/ohnotheydidnt/) Turns out it wasn't a joke.:cry::cry:

This is incredibly sad. Heath was a great actor and seemed to be a great guy. He died way too young. Since deaths come in threes, I wonder who will be next after him and Brad Renfro. :(
No, it's bad that this is grabbing headlines above the presidential election, and that, in two more minutes, this thread will surely have more posts than any one on the presidential election.

I liked Heath Ledger, I thought Brokeback Mountain was an excellent showcase of his acting ability, and it's unfortunate that he's dead.

But if you want to act like something is "bad," put it in perspective.
Someone losing their life is just a bit more important than watching a bunch of old farts accusing another old fart of doing something that they do daily.

You're right, some people need to learn perspective.
holy shit. :(

...i hope batman was finished. :(
if its not i wonder if they will do the same thing like with the CROW

I just found this out at work 20 minutes ago. Wow......just wow. Bet you he was murdered by the Mafia.

I thought this guy was in his 40's.
if its not i wonder if they will do the same thing like with the CROW
With the advancement in computer face mapping technology, I am sure it is possible.
With the advancement in computer face mapping technology, I am sure it is possible.
Considering they did it some 14 years ago, i'd say it is.

It's all part of the plan.

But really, this is really sad. I was just watching the trailer of The Dark Knight when I went to Digg and saw this. It's pretty much the new River Phoenix case of the 2000's, not Brandon Lee (who died in a stunt accident).

He honestly was a great actor and I think he could have approached Johnny Depp levels of greatness if something like this hadn't happened. I can't call this a tradgedy because it's not, but it saddens me nonetheless.

As it is, I'd like to add that Terry Gilliam can't seem to catch a break. Ledger was filming Gilliam's The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus when he died and so I have no idea what the heck is going to happen with that production. As it is, something always seems go during a Terry Gilliam production. During the making of The Man Who Killed Don Quixote, that production got shut down because of an actor that got ill in it as well.

Heath Ledger Quotes:

Personal Quotes

"I only do this because I'm having fun. The day I stop having fun, I'll just walk away. I wasn't going to have fun doing a teen movie again.... I don't want to do this for the rest of my life....I don't want to spend the rest of my youth doing this in this industry. There's so much I want to discover." - Vanity Fair (August 2000)
I prefer to date older women because they don't try to act older like younger girls but because they try to act younger.

"It's a little uncomfortable doing love scenes in armor, but, you know, when the heat's on, the heat's on." - "Access Hollywood" (1996), August 2000.

[about the paparazzi] "Most of the time you don't even know they're there. Now, that's the scary thing. It's really strange and invading, but I'm still working it all out. I try to not let it bother me. I really try and find the humour in all of it. And if I want to swim naked in my pool, I'm still going to do it. I certainly don't want to feel that I have to change everything in my life that I do to cater to them. I just won't let it happen." - National Post, May 2001

"I don't have a technique. I've never been a believer in having one set technique on how to act. There are no rules and there is no rulebook. At the end of the day, it all comes down to my instincts. That's the one thing that guides me through every decision professionally. Socially, also. That's my technique. Yeah, you read through the script 100 times. I guess I have little characteristics about myself. Sometimes, most often than not, once we start shooting I won't look at the script at all until we finished shooting. It's kind of like it's been imprinted in my head during rehearsals. You just let it go." - Reel.com, May 2001

"I'm the worst auditioner, really, really bad. I mean, you're being judged and I'm just so aware of it that it consumes me. I can't relax, I'm tied in knots, so the voice is very taut and tense. You're so aware that you're acting 'cause you're sitting across from this lady with a piece of paper who's going, ''I'm. Going. To. Shoot. You. If. You. Don't. Blah, blah, blah,'' in this emotionless voice. It's foul. I hate it." - EW.com, May 2001
People just love to bash LA. People say it's so pretentious, so arrogant, so this and that. But it's truly a wonderful place. You don't have to go to the places where that stuff goes on. You don't have to go to Beverly Hills, you don't have to go to the parties. You can live up in the Lower Canyon and live such a perfectly healthy, beautiful, fun life with all your friends. You can drive two hours one way and be at the Joshua Tree desert, two hours one way you're skiing at Big Bear. Sure, it can get full-on and that's why it's good to get out. But it's too easy just to say, "Nup, I hate it. I'm not living there anymore. - NW Magazine, March 2000

[about growing up with his mom and his sisters] I learned respect for women, and patience. You grow up with all those women around you...you learn to wait your turn. - Cosmopolitan, June 1998

I never studied acting in Australia. I never had an empty stage and black pajamas to run around and express myself.

"The challenge was to capture the stillness of him. I have kind of semi-frantic, nervous energy. Harnassing that was something I thought I'd have to work out. Shooting in the wilderness, the stillness became like this innate quality." -on his character "Ennis" in Brokeback Mountain (2005).

Brooklyn seems to me the closest thing in America to Europe. The neighbors and locals are beautiful people. It's like a village.

"She's my soul mate and we couldn't love each other any more than we do already. We're like two peas in a pod." [On girlfriend and the mother of his daughter, 'Michelle Williams']

"Matilda is adorable, and beautifully observant and wise. Michelle an I love her so much. Becoming a father exceeds all my expectations. It's the most remarkable experience I've ever had - it's marvelous." [On daughter Matilda and being a father]

My life right now is, I wouldn't say reduced to food, but my duties in life are that I wake up, cook breakfast, clean the dishes, prepare lunch, clean those dishes, go to the market, get fresh produce, cook dinner, clean those dishes and then sleep if I can. And I love it. I actually adore it.

I'm not good at future planning. I don't plan at all. I don't know what I'm doing tomorrow. I don't have a day planner and I don't have a diary. I completely live in the now, not in the past, not in the future.

[on playing The Joker in The Dark Knight] The Joker, so far, is definitely the most fun I've had with any character. He's just out of control -- no empathy, he's a sociopath, uh, a psychotic, mass-murdering clown. And, uh, I'm just thoroughly, thoroughly enjoying it. It's just exceeded any expectations I had of what the experience would be like.

[On his choice of film projects] I feel like I'm wasting time if I repeat myself. I can't say I'm proud of my work. It's the same with everything I do: the day I say 'It's good' is the day I should start doing something else.

Batman is in post production so no doubt they have all the footage they need.

Worst case this would be eerily similar to the Crow, except fot the cause of death.

Truly tragic, what a waste. What a selfish bastard too...he has a 2 year old daughter. THAT is the truly sad part.
Also, while I have your attention, did you know Anthony Bourdain is in Uwe Boll's Farcry? The sound you are hearing is his credibility sinking lower than his balls.
I'm at a loss for words. You should realize the significance of that happening.

EDIT:

Yeah. Sure. I believe that you personally mourn the loss of everybody ever who has died, and not just celebrities who overdose. How long was your mourning period for Anna Nicole Smith? ;)

Another thought: sad or not, it could be worse: he could have been Raul Julia, and his last film be "Street Fighter."

If someone had him in a dead pool they are banked right now.

No surprise at all considering he was a frequent drug user. I'll wait for Phrostbyte to come in and defend the use of heroin.

I have sympathy for his daughter but that's about it.
What a selfish bastard too...he has a 2 year old daughter. THAT is the truly sad part.
This is really the only sad part. People die all the time yet somehow his life was more important? I know it's newsworthy but in the grand scheme of things, unless you knew him personally or his death will have a profound effect on your life, who really gives a shit?

I remember him best in "Candy" where he was a heroin addict who pimped his girlfriend. i couldnt help but think that the reason he was convincing in that was because he may have been high during some of those scenes

these old farts end up killing tens of thousands of innocents(george w. bush) and have tremdous impact on the country's infrastructure and foreign policy and especially the economy

ah fuck it, youre right, this is more important because I bet he would be in the batman sequel if this new batman does well at the box office. And that is really all that matters here.

edit and on a serious note lets not forget about the kid he had, this really sucks for her as a few mentioned

This really sucks. I'm glad to hear this won't be affecting Batman, but it's a damn shame that The Dark Night will be the last time we ever get to see him. He was quickly becoming one of my favorites.

It's not too bad for his daughter. Her godfather is Jake Gyllenhaal so she won't lacking in financial security anytime soon.

As for the probably sequel to the Dark Knight, I figure they'll just reedit him to fall into another vat of acidy chemicals so that when he emerges, he can just get plastic surgery and BAM! - replacement actor.

They don't need an excuse for a replacement actor if they were to use the Joker in the third film. Katie Holmes character is replaced and its not like they're going to explain why she looks different. Unless they use the ol' acid trick

Dead and NAKED! and in an Olsen twin's apartment...

Probably done in by Lance Armstrong after Mr. Gay Biker man found out that Brokeback was only a movie.

"The challenge of the role put a strain on Ledger's sleep patterns, finding himself unable to rest for more than a few hours each night.[9]"

Right from the wikipedia page about The Dark Knight. This would explain why he was using the sleeping pills. Probably an accidental overdose.

That's a bit of a different situation there. You're replacing a mediocre actress w/ a quality indie actress. ;) Heath Ledger, although I though he was miscast as the Joker (which I've since changed my mind), is a pretty good actor who's not afraid to try unconventional roles. I'd say Christian Bale would be a good replacement but I hear he's got another part in that series.

He can also be the female love interest. The movie will be called...

So true.

'Daddy's dead. But that's ok, because your godfather has money too.

I'm sure that's what Michelle Williams is telling their daughter right now.

Don't ever quote me again, trashcan dweller.

I hate that guy

Too bad. I personally really liked A Knight's Tale. I hope he rocks in The Dark Knight.

And to all you people who are criticizing those of us who are concerned with whether or not his death will affect The Dark Knight (which it won't, because the movie is in post-production now, meaning the involvement of the actors is pretty much over):
I actually think you guys are the ones who are being jerks. His relationship to all of us here was simply as a figure on a movie screen. He was not, I reckon, a personal friend or acquaintance of anyone here. So, you guys who are chiding us for being concerned with how it will affect his last work instead of mourning his passing as though he were a family member or something, yeah, you guys are assholes.

And no, I'm not saying that you can't feel a little personal remorse about it, or that anyone should act coldly about the poor guy's death. I'm just saying that being at least curious about his professional career, which was the bulk of his connection to most of us, is not inappropriate or bad at all.
