Hands down my favorite "reality" tv show. Anyone else watch it?

As for tonight I think Bobby should have left. No matter what he does he talks shit like he is the greatest. I laughed my ass off when they showed him standing there with his mouth open staring into nothing before Gordon kicked
Dominic
off the show

Anyways...I usually have a few favorites after the first show but no one stands out yet...

Hen in a pumpkin is the funniest shit I've ever seen on Hell's Kitchen!

He seems to be an even bigger dick this time around...LOVING IT!

Next week season 1 comes out on dvd...Im all over that.

definitely one of the best reality shows. the guy that made the caviar/capers/white chocolate/etc monstrosity cracked me up as he looked so dumbfounded after ramsey barfed up his creation

I watched it for the first time last night. That guy is BRUTAL... so obviously it makes good television

I loved the "Im so small so i wear this giant hat" guy, and what the fuck was up with that fat guy? picking his fucken toes while everyone was in the kitchen.

Once again the guys team just like last season are rejects that got off of the short bus, at least some of the womens team show some level of competence.

It would be the greatest thing ever to have Bobby kicked off next for how much of an overboastful idiot he turned himself into.

This.

Fox positioned this in the same time slot as Dancing with the Stars, and for that, I'm sitting out this season. Yes, I'm a pussy.

Its funny that everytime they do a HK...the menu involves rizzoto?sp?...yet everytime that seems to be the one thing that fucks everyone up.

I've never had that stuff before. I need to try it, but it appears that it's easy to mess up.

I thought he was kinda a dick in the last few seasons, but after watching Kitchen Nightmares, it's more evident that he's not actually being mean for the sake of being mean... he's just damn serious about cooking.

I liked the first episode.
Nice first ep but Bobby deserved the boot. He seems all talk, no walk to me.
He was all talk, no walk, but the guy that actually did leave fucked up everything he touched.

Enjoyed the first episode. Bobby should have definitely gotten the boot..."um doing my stuff, you take care of your stuff over there"...guy's a joke.

I love how they always cast people that work at restaurants mixed with nobodys...like the fruit carver, or the house husband...WTF?

I'm usually a fan of the show... but I was hoping for some originality this season. I'm getting tired of the same old "schtick".

Oh well, I'll keep watching it and I'm sure I'll enjoy it as I pick out my favorites.
Damnit! I thought it started next week! Ugh...
Here. I'll spoil the episode for you.

Gordon yelled at a lot of people that sucked as cooks on the opening night of the restaurant.

That's how every first episode of Hell's Kitchen is.
LouRoss, the little Asian guy with the mohawk, is gonna take it all.
I got the same feeling from the 1st ep. Anyone know when Kitchen Nightmares is coming back, fall or summer?
I wonder if the people from Top Chef could have done better.

Just a thought.
Hung would mop the floor with them.

They are amateurs and aren't even good enough for the next food network star, let alone, good enough for chef ramsay's standards :)

Man, those people on Top Chef Chicago are a conglomerate of fuckin' nimrods, aren't they?

I didn't know Hell's Kitchen was back on this season. Did the US version of Kitchen Nightmares get reupped as well? The BBC show is, hands down, the greatest thing on television (with a slight nod for Top Gear).

Yes, I'm 100% sure it got picked up, just not sure when it restarts. Summer, I hope.

I'm fairly confident that the people on Top Chef are retarded. Pineapple on pizza? Never. Not Ever.

I just find that every season, the exact same mistakes are made. The exact same. It's always "Yeah I am cooking X but I don't really know how and in this challenge I can't use sugar so I'm hoping splenda will work."

Wtf. If you don't know how to cook it, why in the hell are you? And why do you think a substitute would work?

Or they do something they know is dumb. "Well I've never cooked X and then waited 2 hours to re-heat it later."

THEN DON'T DO IT.

Criminy.

Hung sucks. He has technical skills but absolutely no soul as a chef. Plus he was a dick.

As for your other part, I fail to see how you could call not getting one entree out in three hours up to anyone's standards. That's just pathetic.

Word. This is the first season I've watched, but it seems that they've just picked a Benneton commercial's worth of eccentric assholes. Black girl, asshole guy (Andrew?), someone named "Spike," the diesel dyke, 'extreme' old guy from San Francisco (replete with dumbass nautical star tattoos), the guy who is visually identical to the diesel dyke except for his incessant pretentious mention of "molecular gastronomy," and so on.

I'll have to go back to Hell's Kitchen, I think. First, because I adore Ramsay with few exceptions, and second, because they're actually working in a kitchen with kitchen supplies - not the unrealistic and hackneyed "let's root through these suburban fuck's pantries for boxes of Barilla pasta so we can make a fuck you confit with blah de blah reduction sauce, sprinkled with bonito flakes and WD-40" crap that Top Chef does. I walk away from Top Chef thinking the same thing every time: "How the fuck did Salman Rushdie land that woman?"

Great first episode. However, since Jonathon is out of Beauty and The Geek, I only had two shows to watch on Tuesday. Now I have 3 again (American Idol, Biggest Loser, Hells Kitchen). Oh well, its the only day I watch tv (until the real tv comes back).
"How the fuck did Salman Rushdie land that woman?"
It's the accent, man. You know it.

As for the other stuff, I can agree to all of that. I like the deconstruction of the chefs especially.

It's funny, but if you watch the first season, those guys had WAY harder challenges to contend with. Now it's kiddy hour every once and a while, with only a few things really standing out as insurmountable obstacles.

I'll probably watch Hell's Kitchen this time around, but I generally can't get over the fact that Ramsay - who plays himself off smoother and more arrogantly than even Anthony Bourdain at times - is running around like a child that's mad that he doesn't have any more red play-doh. I mean, you've got to see some contradiction there, right?

I think Ramsay is 70% legit and 30% character. I base this on Kitchen Nightmares more than HK, but if you consider the boilerplate format of the former, it always starts off with him panning everything put in front of him. Now, I'm sure some of it is dismal - but it's the forced structure of the show (Ramsay saves this kitchen from financial doom) that necessitates that he convince the audience early on in the program that this restaurant is indeed bad enough to require his services. Sometimes the restaurants do that on their own (the vegetarian French bistro did, as well as 'prawns-in-chok'lit-sauce' guy); other times I'm not convinced that the food is total shit.

Anyway, all that aside, the very nature of HK is far more conducive to him performing "in character," so I'm much more prone to thinking it's forced then, too. I did see a few of the last season's episodes, and his bitching about the fat guy who did something with the fish was pure theater.

Then again, it's also how the real world works, where a line cook has to not only perform and perform well, they have to continually sate the typically-alcoholic-and-neurotic chef's ego as well. So it all comes together in the end.

Bourdain's gone soft in his old age. He's a cynic, but his arrogance doesn't shine through much anymore, IMO. His persona convinces me that he and I are more likely to share a few beers, put the Dead Boys on the jukebox, and take the piss on every asshole in the joint. Whereas Ramsay would berate me and, once intoxicated enough, cry about how, despite being worth 50 million pounds, he really wanted to be a football star. Bourdain won't make any more money at this point by being the asshole. Maybe he realized that Ramsay is better at it, and he had to rediscover his niche.
LouRoss, the little Asian guy with the mohawk, is gonna take it all.
I thought he was an Asian lesbian chick at first because of his feminine glasses. I bet he will win or at least make it into the finals since all the other dudes just seemed like a joke. The big black dude seems like a comedian in the middle of a sketch and everyone else just seems lazy. I'll predict LouRoss or a female winner this season.

I'm hoping Rosann or Christina wins. Also, if you guys like Ramsay, I suggest you watch the BBC version of Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares. That show is great.

Bobby would have gone home had the other guy actually done some scallops right....

No way youre the "leader" of a kitchen and when people need help and guidance you say "youre doing your thing, Im doing mine, you got this"....fuck that.

It used to blow my mind that most of them couldn't cook but then I remembered that this is TV and that's what sells. All shitting aside, I could take any 4 guys from this site and at least get thru a service with only prep time and a quick menu run down.

Personal Opinion is I dont think this cast is a strong as the past season's, It is gonna make gordon more pissed and better tv with him flipping out.

Get you some Graystone and get back to us on this.

Even if he was there, I would count on you and Chicka pulling your weight to get your asses out of the weeds.

What happened to Julia from last year? She was the short order cook who Gordon said he was going to send to culinary school then bring her back this year. Anyone remember that?

^
I remember him sending Julia to school but i dont recall him saying he will send her back next year. Malik you eat at the Green Valley Ranch Resort @ the Rock's restaurant? I didn't have a chance to go last time I was in Vegas.

Going for Roseann this year. All the guys besides the ben & mohawk'd asian are pretty clueless.
Malik you eat at the Green Valley Ranch Resort @ the Rock's restaurant?
no...we wanted to but it is sooo expensive and my wife and I have 2 kids so its just a hassle...we wanted to go there and the Red Rock where the winner from 2 years ago works

I don't know how some of you could like Louross after the whole "Louross London LA, thats like triple L - biggity bam" or whatever the fuck he said

After looking at the wiki the Red Rock winner chick doesn't work there anymore. Apparently it was only for a one year guaranteed employment.

And I don't think people like LouRoss. I think its just after the first episode he's the only one that came across as competent on the guys team.

I fuckING KNEW IT!!!!! I knew Sharon was going home! Good shit! The look on everyones faces (especially corey's) was fucking awesome!! Sharon couldnt keep her tongue in her mouth and I was laughing out loud the whole time....goddamn i love this show...

i am really starting to like Ben but think that most of the men are basically pigs or are acting that way because of the other guys....I REALLY dont like Jen or Bobby right now though...both of them think they do no wrong and just talk shit

I cant believe Craig hit that chick in the head with the chair and wasn't gonna do anything about it...what a douche

She might have gotten Jen outta there had she said that the bitch is just negative and looking to blame everyone but herself etc etc acting like a queen f'n bee and do shit as a team.
