Hell's Kitchen

Just caught up w/ the episode4 ...

Matt does need to go asap. I could be wrong but from the previews for the next episode it seems like Matt was in the back near the meat section when Chef Ramsay flips out about meat.

Happy Roseann didn't have a terrible service this week. Ben is starting to slip up but he does have all his braincells so hopefully he can bounce back and start doing well.

I think Ben was a victim of forced editing if anything. Did they ever show anything to indicate that he messed up during that service? They showed Ramsay getting on his case about congratulating his team but other than that he really wasn't doing much wrong. At least not like Craig and Matt.

Seems that way. He's not sending out raw food and he's not acting like he's hot shit, so he's got an advantage over like... nearly everyone on the guys' team.

I dunno abou that...i thought gordon was giving him shit early in the service...I haven't seen anything from him that says he is a good cook/leader in the kitchen...all's i have seen is that he was better then craig, and whinny face dude...bobby and the asian guy, and the big italien dude all have done just as well as ben has..

I'm betting on crybaby Matt getting kicked off next week. He was so bad this week--sending out raw meat to children infuriated Chef, as it should.

Also, his freak out shoe-throwing tantrum in the room 2 weeks ago made me despise him.

yeah...i wonder if ben did anything terribly worng....the chefs even picked him as the strongest one...it was funny as hell when Ramsay said ben surprised him and then Ben was like thank you I'm glad someone noticed him and Ramsay was like "you surprised me with how shitty you are" that was hilarious...i hate that the people that annoy me the most are the ones getting all the recognition (jen & bobby)

OH! at the end when Ben said he would give 100% and Matt said he would give 125% and then Craig was like "I dont know percentages but whatever is more than that" I was fucking rolling!

I watched the first season of Hell's Kitchen and remember many of the foodies around me complaining about Ramsey being "too mean". I'm actually a bigger fan of Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmare on the BBC, where he's not pulling this bastard shtick to make the conflict for a Fox television program. In Kitchen Nightmare, Ramsey is really likable, even though most of the people he's trying to get off their butts think he's the biggest ass around.

This season has a really bad group of "chefs", though I don't remember how bad the people were from the first season. Even though it seems a little silly for Ramsey to be angrily kicking the trashcan when the chefs screw up, it's not actually far from the reaction a 5 star chef would have if one of the people had working for him tried to get him to serve raw food.

Right now, I think Craig is the weakest of the Red team because he has trouble communicating, is slow, and makes a lot of mistakes. It's been the same thing with Craig for the last two episodes I've seen. Matt also seems like a weak chef, but I can't immediately remember his last screw up.

I haven't seen the first couple episodes, so I don't know what happened with Bobby early on, but he seems to have it together (or at least got it in the last couple episodes).

I had no idea CAGs were Gordon Ramsay fans!

I'm not either but I've been watching his show since I worked on an episode of Kitchen Nightmares, the american version that's coming out next season. Gordon's not as much of a dick on that show, or in person. He is one tall, intimidating looking guy, though.

I dont like the American version as much as the BBC version. It's much more about drama, arguments, tension and involves heavy editing. Whereas the BBC version is more focused on the restaurant itself and what its doing wrong and what can be changed. Sure Ramsay mixes it up but its not as over the top and gratuitous.

By the way, what episode are you on? What city/restuarant?

I really don't like Jen, she's loud and obnoxious. Corey seems to be the most stable of the women. Vanessa seems like she'd be fun for the show, too bad she melted off her hand.

It was South Bend, Indiana, the restaurant was J Willies.

I get shown for a brief bit remodeling the restaurant, but it's nothing fancy. I was working with the production staff, so we were just doing the grunt work most of the time. It paid well, though!

I thought that this coming season was the first season of Kitchen Nightmares in the US? Shows how much I actually know about the show.. He seemed to be more about the restaurant and the local people than in Hell's Kitchen. I know he donated a bunch of his own money to fix up one of the first locations they shot at, so he seems to be very much in it to improve things, not just create controversy.

I meant it's Fox's fault not Ramsay. I think he's probably being himself (if not prodded to be a little meaner) but for the most part the same. I think it's Fox that edits in a certain way and adds the music and focuses on the controversy and then you dont really see much of the restaurant or how the chef works and interacts with his/her staff.

i wonder who the "mystery" chef is next week. I'm thinking it might be that girl from last season who was the short order cook at the waffle house.

I was let down that they didn't kick anyone off, but it makes sense since Vanessa dropped out.

Next week's show looks like an epic clusterfuck.

Also, why in the world would they nominate Louross out over Matt?

I've watched all but 1 hells kitchen seasons, and I love them.

But this season blows. And I officially have stopped watching it. I hate everyone on the show and they all suck, and it's really boring this year. (Last episode was my last, I stopped watching halfway through and just let my gf finish the rest).

Done watchin in.

I don't remeber a season where the person in charge of nominating either tried to play the game and or tried to get rid of a person they didn't like. That fucking girl couldn't make mashed potatoes and veggies...
i wonder who the "mystery" chef is next week. I'm thinking it might be that girl from last season who was the short order cook at the waffle house.
yeah probably . I think Malik called on ep1 that she was supposed to be there. It would only make sense. Next week looks great, hopefully chef ramsay has to shut down the kitchen on the girls Sweet 16 party...it would be epic.

guess sorta a bump...dvr didn't get any love this week thanks to gta4.
Which one of the guys would he be in love with?
lol no he was was suppose to have a thing for the girl w/ the red bandana. I didn't know there was a hells kitchen on BBC. My wife and I love the Hells Kitchens Nightmare on BBC, the american one was pure shit.

yeah..they didnt show the love thing.....oh well..i hope the surprise chef is the waffle house chick but i dont think the surprise chef will join the competition..i think they will just be there for one of the challenges

OK--not really sure what last week's teaser was talking about. That is kind of irritating.

That said, good episode. I agreed with who Chef sent home if only for the family reasons. What kind of a moron does that type of thing?

Yeah WTF? Where was my new cook? Anyways, I think Rosanne should have gone home. Yeah Shana sucked but Rosanne can't cook a fucking steak. Come the hell on!

Can someone fill me in on the heated exchange between Matty and Chef Ramsey at the end? Just before it started, the National Weather Service decided to cut in with a thunderstorm warning. I could see them yelling at each other but all I could hear was the fucking female computerized voice telling people in some other counties to head to an interior room.

Matty really needs to go.. Everytime he talks it looks like he's either going to crap or cry. The exchange between ramsey and matty could have been Matty whinning that Bobby pushed him off his station and that He would do alot better if he was on the red team.

Good episode, no mystery chef which was lame. I am sure you all remember the week before where louross was supposed to have a love interest but they didn't air it until this week. Maybe one of the editors mixed up a few clips.

Surprised that rosanne didn't get the boot...didn't she fuck up bigtime last week as well...Yeah the mango salsa girl might have been slow, but I don't think I had ever seen her get yelled at

Rosanne cracks me up with her Brooklyn accent.

"Mah dawta is almos' 16." I wanted to her to say immediately after that something like "And I'm almos' 23."

Matty is a manbaby. He should be kicked off just for being annoying. There's no way he'll last much longer. I mean he tried to argue that he shouldn't go because he got his worthless ass kicked off the station he was failing at. He didn't even try to play up a strength of his or anything - he actually just complained that his ineptitude was the reason he should stay.

It would be like a fire chief complaining he shouldn't be fired because he'll keep city hall from burning the next time.

I can't believe Rosanne survived. Sure Shayna is slow as hell and Matt is useless & annoying but when you screw up the VIPs order twice, yikes.

How in the hell was Matt able to last another week? He's painfully inept and Ramsay has to see that. The only reason he's possibly there yet is because the producers saw entertainment in his angry Bert look. And his "I'm not to proud to cook with women" line couldn't have been more offensive.

Yeah I had to do the math when she said that. She got knocked up early (lucky guy :bouncy:).
Get to see another hilarious meltdown in the women's section.
It's gonna be so great when Corey and Jen start screaming to get him out of the kitchen.

They already gave away that the guys team is on the losing end again. The guy with glasses (Ben?) seems to be the best of the worst again because he's supposed to nominate someone to go. I think the surprise elimination he'll nominate will be Bobby (his biggest competition).

That whole "love interest" BS in the previews was so lame. It was just Louross and what's-her-face sitting by the hot tub talking after the service. There wasn't any romance.

Exactly what I was thinking, Matty needs to grow some balls if he wants any chance of staying in Hells Kitchen.

I don’t know…
Him and Bobby are a bit too close, would be crazy if he nominated himself but I highly doubt that.

This season of Hell’s Kitchen is just plain driving me up a wall! They are playing it like it’s a game and it’s not. Hell’s Kitchen can’t possibly be played like that and be any where near successful. The other two seasons hacked off the weak and excelled in the kitchen leaving the best chefs to show their stuff and show who is better.

This season they seem to be a bunch of whiners looking to back stab and hack off the best. It’s really going to suck not finishing dinners because you have the weakest people working under you, going to really suck when you can’t win any challenges because someone can’t figure out how to dice up something.

They’re scared and willing to do anything whether it be down and dirty to win, even if it means getting rid of the best and picking off the weak. Pathetic.

Luckily Ramsey notices what they are doing and hasn’t let their THREE attempts of backstab-ary succeed, thank gawd.

I totally agree with the way the show is being played like a game. Maybe I am wrong, but I also don't remeber the kitchen in previous seasons finishing as many services or as early as this season.

Actually, the way it was cut, it seemed to me that Ben had the choice of cutting anyone from either team. It might be a stretch, but it seems he's gonna be given that choice. Otherwise, why even announce he's the one to do the cutting?

thats kinda the way it seemed to me in the preview as well.

i cant believe matt is still around, but i think it ill be hilarious with him on the girls team. and i also think they kept him so his squishy face and make people lulz for another week.

The only reason they've succeeded in two dinner services is because it's been nothing but easy stuff. Ramsey even said so himself. I do remember last season though the completed a dinner service on like the 3rd episode if memory serves me right.

Most of the chefs this season just seem so darm incompetent, it's like they're all running around and telling themselves, "I'm only here to be on TV, score an amazing job cooking food and mainly commanding others in the kitchen and get my arse reemed by Ramsey."

The past two seasons people were there to work under the wing and eye of a legendary chef, to learn, to progress. It just doesn't seem like it with this bunch though.

matt is a moron... when he said he has no shame in going on the girls team i was like "what about all the macho shit talk?"

after corey and louross were at the table talking they showed her get down to her underwear and get in the hottub..then louross went around the other side andf then they cut it off! i was like wtf happened?!?

i wanted to kick the mom and the birthday girl in the mouth..i HATE super sweet 16 crap and the mom was a douche...not to mention the overly ripe fruit of a party planner

i like watching next week's preview but take them with a grain of salt...the last few weeks they have shown everything not in the next episode

The show is exposing itself as theater. They keep Matt on the show because it's exciting to have a big dumb whiny baby bitch. Shayna left because she wasn't exciting; I don't really remember a thing about her before this - and she gets booted for being slow, fine. But for being slow during prep? fuck you. You have 9 or so people who can't run a fucking service proper, and you kick off someone because they weren't fast during prep? If they ran out of something that was prepped, maybe. The show didn't convey that. At all.

Corey will stay on the show because she's a cunt.

I haven't really seen any amazing stuff out of anyone on the show yet. I like the characters, but I'm let down by Ramsay attaching himself to a show where cooking is so secondary.

Then they have a mincing little fuck of a teenager and her rich quasi-hip mother be the center of the service. THE GIRL NEVER ATE A fuckING SHRIMP. That's not something to gauge "foodie" or "not foodie" by. That's just off the fucking radar, man. Even people who eat at "Long John Silver's" have had shrimp. I was fuming when she was prattling and giggling about the pomegranate seeds on the flank steak (which sounds like a shitty idea, but that's not the point).

I totally disagree with letting Shayna go. It, The Pink Spiders, the never-ate-a-shrimp girl (given how the guests at the party got an Ed Hardy gift bag worth a minimum $250 per, god only knows how much this soiree cost altogether for some ungrateful fuck), and keeping several thoroughly incapable and unreliable kitchen hands on the show expose this as having nothing to do with the ability to be a chef: you win the prize if you keep ratings high.

Ugh. I can't wait to see what pretentious meals get made on Top Chef tonight.

Exactly, it's completely about the inner drama now.

I can't see a single one of them being an actual head chef in charge of any kitchen.

I agree with you to a point...if the show was going to be a theatre though, then matt would still be on. Come on, who doesn't want a sexist pig on the show over a whiny burt imposter.

I too can't wait for top chef tonight...IMO the contestants can't handle criticism as well as seasons past. Granted I only started watching top chef 2 seasons ago.

Hehe myke.

I can't wait to see what pretentious stuff gets made also. They are catering a wedding, so I'm imagining some badly prepared hors d'ouerves and a shitty cake, with lots and lots of yelling by Tom afterward in a very I-could-have-done-better-by-myself way, while Padme sits there pretending she knows how to cook.

Just watched it via Tivo. Hilarious.

Bobby kicking Matt off the station was the best. fuck him, I ain't losing. Then he complained about it to Ramsey when he's the biggest chef in the kitchen. What a bitch. Best of all, Matt's line of "Who wants chicken at their sweet 16?" Well, obviously nobody wants your sorry ass shrimp salad (or whatever the hell it was) with white chocolate sauce that Ramsey vomited in the first episode.
Padme sits there pretending she knows how to cook.
Heh.

They do make some overly complicated dickbag food on Top Chef, and while I liked the guy somewhat, I'm glad what's-his-name got kicked off when they did the tailgating party. Poached pears for fans of 'da bearss'? Poor form. The people on the show are trying to outdo one another, but there's a modicum of reason when people leave the show that I feel HK lacks. This is even the case when I disagree with who gets kicked off (last week w/ Jennifer, for instance).

OTOH, when Ramsay's cats offer up 'stuffed chicken wings' as an appetizer for an upper-class 16th birthday party, it's an insult. Don't get me wrong: I likes me some wings, no doubt. But I wouldn't serve them at an upscale affair, even if they were served alongside a bacon-wrapped chestnut baked in barbecue sauce.

;)

I was wondering where the scallops were. Seems like everyone loves scallops - I see them all over the damn place.

If Bobby Flay did seafood instead of Southwesternwtfever steak dishes, he'd use scallops all the time. They just seem that required in any sort of appetizer setting.
