Help!: How To Snake in Mario Kart

Like A Breath

CAGiversary!
I got my first taste of online play and it became painfully clear that I won't be able to win if I don't learn how to snake.

How did you learn and what are some good practice methods? Thanks.

you make a snake like pattern on a straight away getting boost at every turn (you know, when you go left, right, left, right to get a boost at the end of a turn).

only thing to do is practice.

Nintendo knew full well it was there because the same thing was clearly happening in double dash. Its just an extension(repetition) of standard move. The only thing they couldve possibly done to stop it was build in some sort of timer/lag so that you could only do it once every X seconds.

Top Tier play is always going to be unfriendly to most people. The weapon selection favoring people who are behind already helps balance things a bit.

I wouldve prefered just power sliding like the original, with no boosting, but its a perfectly legitimate thing, not a glitch or a bug.

i think snaking takes away from the excitement of what mario kart used to be. it used to be a race to the finish with your buddies with using weapons to knock each other off. It was simple, fun, and and a good time to be had.

It's always fun among friends. It's when rankings are introduced that everyone plays to win.

Outrun 2 remains to be the best online racer, for that reason.

I've tried the snaking thing, but I get worn out after 20-30 minutes.

Thanks for the video and responses, guys. I am disappointed it's in the game, but I'll have to deal if nintendo really did add it.

You are missing something. Mario Kart is simple and fun, but it also is fun for more advanced players because they could enhance there skills by learning the powerslide and become even better players.

It is the powerslide that makes Mario Kart a game that can be played for ages without becoming dull. It takes time and practice to master it. If all you want is simple kart racing, that requires no skill nor practice to master, either find different people to play or find a different game. If you don't want powerslide, may I suggest Snowboard Kids.

In my opinion, without the powerslide, Mario Kart gets real old real fast unless you play battle mode with friends (N64). Holding the "A" button, steering around a track, and shooting red and blue turtle shells all day is way to boring for me. I'd probably quit after about 5 minutes, put it back in my closet, and not play it ever again.

I mean when I useta play some gunbound

I would focus more on making my character look cool than tricking him out in the same gear evryone else had.

so what happens??

ppl begin to change sides so all the strong ppl are on the same team,

ppl on my team begin to complain and whine,

then I eventually get kicked out.

...I dont care about the rankings in MK:DS, i just like to race. fuck the snake people though. They're just playing to win, not to have fun...cause you cant have fun doing that over and over and over again.

Now when i was playing Burnout 3 on Live, THEN i cared about rankings...damn that game was fun

I'd suggest picking a cart with good handling and going into time trials and practice on the figure-8 track to get a feel for power-sliding then on to doing so on the straight aways
Snaking I havent played online in a while but it must be a pretty big problem at this point.
I don't think it is. I have a hard time finding people that are that good at snaking, especially now that I see alot of poeple with low records that probably just got MKDS for Xmas. I think the Rival option dosen't work as well as one could hope it would as I rarely get people that have records that are like mine when I try it.

I got MKDS afew days after it came out and it seemed as if overall I had more competitive races when I first started racing online as alot of the more avid Mario Kart racers probably got the game ASAP and I don't think it's just that I've gotten that much better since I started playing about a month ago.

Snaking does take away from mario kart. It was about being a good racer and the luck of the draw with the power-ups. Now these people ruin it with snaking. However I don't feel that my opinion matters that much cause I don't play it online.

Stuff like this is why I've yet to play an online video game. There's always cheaters or obsessive freaks who are WAY better than me. That doesn't make for a fun experience.

cheaters and obsessive freaks?!?! yeah rite..... -_-;;

I think I kno why snaking gets such a bad rep,

coz mario kart is way too much a shallow game.

there's no varying degree of skill in the game,

ure either snaking, holding down the A button, or power boosting corners.

the game isnt fun becoz it's TOO EASY to get skilled in it,

it only takes 5 minutes to learn snaking, after that you're a mindless expert
