Help in finding home theater speakers

Just some speakers or are you looking for a home theater in a box type of set up? If you only need speakers, what purpose are you looking for out of them, like front or rear ones? Also, what size room are you looking to use them in?

i was looking for one of those package sets for a home theater system like a 5.1. i am putting it in my basement which is about 400 ft in area or so

Howdy, I just bought speakers for my DVD system. I did a little research and looked around. And what i ended up with was Logitech Z680 5.1.

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00007AKDP/qid=1123227682/sr=8-7/ref=pd_bbs_sbs_7/002-3165437-9239231?v=glance&s=electronics&n=507846

I know logitech is thought to be for computers, but they can go right into a dvd player. And let me tell you these things rock. The base and mid range tones are perfect. has a remote so you can control the volume of the speakers and mode etc from across the room rather than just the console. Can go right into a game system if thats what your looking for.

Plenty of Power to Spare The Logitech Z-680 gives you THX-certified theater quality digital sound through optical and coaxial inputs for simple connection to nearly any audio appliance. And with the Digital SoundTouch Control Center and wireless remote, you can sit back, stretch out and let loose. Built-in Dolby Digital and DTS hardware decoding lets you connect the Z-680 directly to a PC sound card, Xbox, PlayStation2, DVD player, satellite receiver or other Dolby-ready source and get a true surround experience. You can also get 5.1 surround from a stereo input through the advanced Dolby Pro Logic II system. Best of all, you can connect up to four audio sources simultaneously, while accessing each one at the touch of a button. Model Z-680 True Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 surround sound with built-in hardware decoding Dolby Pro Logic II decoding creates a 5.1 soundfield from two-channel sound sources THX certification ensures top sound quality Connects to PlayStation2, Xbox, DVD players, satellite receivers, PC sound cards, and more to deliver immersive gaming and movie experiences Home-stereo style connectors use standard gauge speaker wire Shielded satellite speakers allow for desk placement or wall mount Internal power supply eliminates bulky wall adapters Removable cloth grills on satellites Wireless remote control, batteries included Total output power: 505 Watts RMS

But the quality of these things is top notch. Base is a nice 188 watts RMS, 380 watts peak.... It shakes right through you. Base is adjustable on the console as well.

Just make sure you have the Game console adapter to plug it into the DVD player or whatever your using. Usually they come with it. Good luck man.
