Help me buy a skateboard, Please!

I want to buy a skate board. I haven't touched one sine i was in my early teens. I 'd like a good general one, don't plan on doing many trick (if any) becuase if i break a bone now, it would probably take forever to heal.

I don't wanna spend too much because I may end up not using it much. and I need/prefer a cool deck (something anime/japan inspired), so that when I decide not to skateboard i can always have something that looks pretty (even if it's scratched up).

please help me.

are there any others? their decks are a bit past perverted to be on something I'll be carrying around the city.

ccs.com is a good company i've been using for years. You can build your own setup, based on price.

Go to ccs.com.
Pick a deck.
Go with either Royal, or Venture super light low trucks.
Then pick whatever wheels, and Bones China red bearings.
That should do it.

There's really not all that much to it.
You need a deck, grip tape, wheels, bearings, risers and trucks.

Risers and grip tape are so inexpensive that the cost isn't much of a consideration (5 dollars, tops for the tape and 2 risers).

A reasonable, high quality deck will likely run you about $40-$50 dollars, wheels will likley cost you about $20, with trucks costing about that much as well (though you can spend more if you have the need.

Bearing will have the most variance, as the quality of them will determine a great deal of how your skateboard performs.

Looking at yard sales, resale shops and the like may turn up good deals for you, especially if you learn the prices of component parts, as you can sometimes find some store selling a board for $20 that has beat up wheels and a sorry looking deck, but the trucks and bearings could be in great conditon and be worth sometimes twice that much.

Yard sales sound like an excellent idea, but i doubt i have much time for the hunt.

I'm sorry I forgot to mention it would be mainly for cruising, but I do NOT want a long board. So I think I need the bigger softer wheels, what mm are those?

are super light low truck still reccommended? and I was told to get high thick risers?

In that case I probably wouldnt go with the venture if you want to run big wheels. Id say go with an 8" deck, Independent trucks, Powell wheels like 60mm or something, China Bones, I have a friend who has that setup and its probably the smoothest board ive ever skated. I actually kinda make fun calling it the stealth board, its almost totally silent. If you have a Fast Forward in a mall somewhere near you you can probably find whatever you want. But you can price and check shit out on ccs.com, if you order a free catalog it will get to you in like a week.

I asked my pro-friend and this is what he said. he probably has more than 100 skateboards at our house. it's ridiculous. hope it helps.



there's a company that does strictly anime style graphics. except its
all slutty asian nurses and stuff. its called hook ups.
other than that most skateboards are all the same.

Hook Ups is a great deck company. They have some awesome designs. If you want anime inspired, that's definitely where you need to look.
