CAGiversary!
Hey CAGers, i just wanted some general info on a career in video game design, and maybe an editor for gamespot.

To clarify i would like salary for video game designers, and for the editors at good ole gamespot, also if it is a recomended career, maybe some prerequisites and stuff like that, or if there is something completely better you can do with a masters in computer science, let me know about that as well, there is no urgency but all the help i can get would be great. links are good as well, thanx

IGDA does a survey every year that will show you average salaries. Search the web for it.

As for becoming a designer, they are the hardest position to come by and to get in as someone green off the street would take a miracle. A better choice would be to start out in another position like artist or programmer and work your way to designer.
Would it help me get into the industry that i'm going to Digipen Institute of Technology?
my first application is going there, and yes i have extensively researched Digipen and i have found it to be the best possible choice for an education in the design of videogames, with a masters from there, you would be a superior pick garunteed, though i plan to finish that up with a PhD from carnegie mellon, prior to that, if just to master the science itself, i look forward to attending a school with a fellow CAG

I start attending Digipen's Bachelor of Real Time Interactive Simulation and Design in September. Is that the course you're applying to?

I also tried getting into Carnegie Mellon, but i wasn't accepted due to lack of Extra Curricular activities.

i am applying in september in hopes of attending soon after my july 2006 graduation, and yes that is the course i am applying for, with the additional masters at the end if expenditures allow such a move, and CMU is a very hard school to get into but the doctorates program not so much.
