Help needed with EA preorder

Hi all, this is my first thread. I've been lurking for a while but got quite a few deals from here. Thanks all! Now onto my issue...

I had pre-ordered the Mirrors Edge bundle with the Timbuk2 bag when it was still available. However, the problem is that the card that I cancelled the card it was applied to (it was lost). I called up EA in order to change the credit card that its associated to so that I can still get the Timbuk2 bag.

When I called up, it took 20 minutes of waiting to get to someone. Then it turns out that they couldn't change the credit card that its associated with... what gives? I thought that all companies should be able to do it. I pressed the customer support guy again and he talked to his manager and he said he couldnt change it either. Has anyone had this problem before? Is there a way to change this?

I thought that when you sign in, theres a "billing info" place you can sign up on. Does anyone know what happens when they try to bill the credit card and it doesnt go through? Will they contact me for new credit card info or will they just cancel the order?

I also offered up to ask if they would be able to cancel my preorder and resubmit it but they said they can only cancel it and if they try and order it, it will say its sold out (even though they would technically have one in stock from my cancellation). If anyone has dealt with EA and come up with the issue of pre-order or cancelled orders, can they please let me know what happens? Thanks all!
 
Well you're kind of in a pickle here unfortunately. Because the card was marked as "lost/stolen? (I used to work for a major bank in the fraud dept), the card number that you originally had is now null and void, but you knew that. You could call up your credit card issuer (the bank, credit union, etc) that gave you the card and ask if they can call the merchant and ask them to change the number due to the lost card. Some merchants, some won't. If the merchant is unwilling to work with you, which it sounds like they are, then you might be SOL at this point.

However, depending on the credit card issuer's system, it might see that you placed an order with the merchant before the lost card report was taken and allow the transaction to go through and show up on your next bill. The associate might also be able to unmark the card as lost, have the merchant place the transaction, and once it goes through, they can place it as lost again. Again, that's all in theory so call up your bank and be extra nice to them :)
 
Thanks PCK... seems the bank was no help. I really hope I'm not SOL. Problem is that I KNOW there has to be a way for EA to change that. It doesnt make any sense that they cant. How else do you change billing for subscription fees for MMOs? I really need a resolution to this, as I've been waiting for this bag forever. Im a big fan of Timbuk2 stuff, so this means a lot to me. Any help with info about EA would be most appreciated. Anyone have any contact with them or know who to go to? Thanks!
 
is this the EA store youre talkin about? there were a few cags that had problems with the EA store. order at your own risk :)
 
Yeah, its the EA Store online... I called a second time today and again, nohelp. They couldbnt direct me to someone who could help either. They said to email, as it may help better. However, I emailed and no response. With a company as large as EA, they dont need to care about the little people like us but it seems to be the case that they should, as it gets a bad rep. Is there any way to get in contact with someone who actually cares about issues like this?
