help on fathers day gift

My parents just signed up for netflix, but have no way to watch the instant movies on a tv. I wanted to get them some sort of streaming device. no gaming machines, so I was looking at something called ROKU for about $60. I think they will also want to watch blu-rays in the future, so I thought about getting a blue-ray player that streams netflix too. any advice/deals/things to avoid recommendations from people?

I don't have any specific recommendations, but a streaming bluray player would probably work best.
 
I'd get the streaming blu-ray player... they can watch netflix and DVDs now, and have the option to get blus in the future without needing more equipment.
 
cool that's what I was leaning towards. Saw one for about $110 at bestbuy I'll probably snag
 
I have an insignia streaming blu-ray player in the bedroom and it's user interface/menu system for netflix sucks. I also have a Roku in the same bedroom. Never use the blu-ray player actually as I play all my blu-rays in the living room through my ps3 (720p dlp projector to ~110" screen). But we use the Roku frequently in the bedroom. Very nice user interface and pretty snappy response compared to the insignia. I use my xbox for netflix in the living room.

If they are getting this for just a regular tv set and not a home theater set up honestly I wouldn't bother with blu-ray right now - just my opinion.

The Roku is a great idea. I had one for years until I switched over to Apple TV. I bought one for my Dad several years back, and he uses it almost daily. It does considerably more than just Netflix now too. Vodcasts, Pandora, etc.

I can honestly say that I'm glad that I'm not aware of such deals.
 
But you're aware of it now, so does that make you unglad?

Not sure when the code expires to be honest. Order today since it's better to be safe than sorry.
