HELP!!!!!! PLEASE ANYONE!!!

Oh shit, I don't know what happened but my other computer is keeps restarting automatically when I get onto it. I can't even get into Windows. I don't know what I could've done to have this happen to me. All I did today was install Nero (which I bought today at Fry's) and install the new SpyBlaster Version 3.3. I'm running on Safe Mode on the other computer and doing a Norton AV scan as we speak. Any help would be great, and I mean greatly appreciated.
 
Restore to before you installed that software. I've experienced similar problems. I'm almost certain it has to do with one of those programs. Nero is probably the candidate. It may be having conflicts with Windows or another program.

Are you sure it could be that? I didn't have any problems when I installed it on the computer I'm using now.

Nero could be interfering with your CD drives on the other computer, or perhaps some software that's on the other computer. It's a guess on my part, but it seems suspisciously close to what happened to me.

Hmm...well you were right :D. Thanks a ton. I finished doing all of my scans (Norton A/V, SpySweeper, Spybot, Adaware) and nothing came up so I did as you said and it's back up and running.

Any idea why Nero would do that to the computer? The other computer that I installed it is perfectly fine and so was this one until it went on the fritz before.

Of course. If you've changed nothing, then there's nothing to stop it from interfering again. You'll want to track down why Nero doesn't work (most likely a dispute between it and Roxio over control of your CD drives).

Horses hate computer problems. Lately I've been battling a bad case of some serious ezula spyware along with the wonderful piece of shit known as coolwebsearch. Alas, I may have no choice but to wipe the harddrive clean again. May not be a bad idea though in all honesty.

coolwebsearch can be rid of fairly easily I believe with most spy/adware cleaner like Adaware, Spybot, etc. You could always try CWShredder which basically wipes your harddrive clean of it. Great program if you have it. I'm not sure of ezula, but what spy/adware cleaners do you have?

Now that I think about it, that would actually make sense with their being a dispute over my CD drives. I nearly forgot that I have Roxio on this computer since I truly dislike that program. I'm guessing that I'd probably have to go into Control Panel and uninstall it that way right? Also, is there any way just to get around this so that I can just leave Roxio without screwing that program?

Also to answer Alpha2's question, my specs on this computer are 3.0 ghz (sp), 512 Ram, 60 gb, I'm not exactly sure of the graphics card but I think it's either a 64mb card or a geforece4 TI.

Uninstall Roxio before you install Nero. Also, if you have XP SP 2, then you'll need the new version of Nero, the older versions are incompatible.

It's kind of late now, so I'll do that hopefully tomorrow. Could that be the trouble, that Roxio is interfering with it? And which of the older version of Nero are incompatible with XP SP2? I have Nero Ultra 6.

No, I still haven't. I really have no clue as to what is causing this problem every time I install Nero.
 
I would go to nero's website and see if they know of an issuse with it, and if nothing else write them an email stating what happens. At worst they will just say they don't know why it is happening either. anyways it is worth a shot

I checked their website and couldn't find anything in the way of troubleshooting or errors. So I e-mailed them but am still waiting for aresponse.

It will give me a blue screen filled with gibberish that I don't even have the time to read since it just flashes and then it totally reboots.

Now I've sort of fixed it a little through safe mode and deleted all of the NEro but now whenever I try to get into the desktop, I don't have my cursor/mice responding. I have an external mouse (don't know if I said but this computer is a laptop) for it and the usual touch pad but now neither seem to be working.

wow, that was awfully nice of you. I thought for sure someone was going to tell the noob not to hijack a thread for his own assistance and maybe to check the help page for any noob questions he had.
 
it sounds like either nero or roxio is screwing with your registry. unfortunately i don't know what to say to fix it other than it doesn't sound like adware/spyware. how feasible is it for you to just reload your os and reformat your hd? of course you need to backup all drivers and data before you do this.
 
First I would install the latest Microsoft updates via Windows Update. Avoid at all costs installing the Windows drivers for your hardware.

I looked through the posts and I did not see this yet. Download the latest Nero patches and update the program right after installing the program. Ignore the message to reboot and after the initial install and then install the patches.

Also if you see the blue screen write down the stop code and the line that might look something like this:
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (or something similar.)

Also look for a driver name for example Nero.sys. (This is just an example, I have not clue what the Nero driver names are.)

All these three pieces of information are like gold when trying to do a Google or Vendor Knowledge base search. Also try Microsoft's TechNet Knowledgebase database at www.technet.com

FYI, I have Roxio easy CD creator 5 basic and Nero SE running at the same time on my Windows XP SP2 PC. I used my steps to install Nero above so I am not sure if I would have had problems.

I've come to that point I think. I think I'll format the HD and then reload the OS but without all of my drivers since I think it is something in my drivers/registry that is conflicting and screwing witht he computer. I'm just going to have to do that, but after I transfer most of the important stuff to my external HD. But again, anyone know how to get the mouse/cursor to move and work again through the command prompt?
