Hey all,

I have been tossing up the idea of starting a Goozex account and wanted some help from my fellow CAG Goozex users. I had some questions about the service and wanted some decent answers.

1. Are there any random promotions that would benefit me of waiting to get a better deal when signing up?
2. What are the specified shipping timeframes?? (i.e Half.com's shipping policy when you are a seller.)
3. How does the overall process work? I know you pay to pick a game but what is the full purpose of the points?
4. Why have points period if you have to pay for the trade anyways?

I am sure there are more lingering in my head but these are the main questions I have ATM.

If you have any other Goozex experiences or helpful hints, please send 'em my way.

Thanks in advance
Tim

I'll do what I can, someone else can correct me if I am wrong, I am semi-new but have a couple of trades either way.

1. Signing up by yourself gets you 100 free trading points and 1 free trade. I believe the trade credits are only used when you receive a game. They give you three bonus trade credits after your first positive feedback.
2. When somebody requests a game you have or you request a game from someone and a match is found, you can accept it or decline it, there are two options for accepting, ship within 1 day and ship within 3 days, so you are supposed to ship within that time frame but no real way to enforce it except for feedback.
3. The points are mostly to try and set specific values for games, you don't get a say in what costs what points, but they do change here and there depending on demand for the games.
4. I guess the point of the points (sorry) is to negate any real exchange of money between traders. You can pay the site for points, but you can't ever cash your points back in for money.

There is my two cents.
There is my referral link if you are interested, we both get a 100 bonus trades and 1 free trade credit also.

I like the site and have gotten some good trades out of it. When I signed up I received 100 points and 5 free trades and I think they only count when YOU send out a game. I think it's a good site to get some older titles, but newer more popular games are going to set you back a lot of points plus they may take a while before a match is found.

The bottom line is if you have patience it's a great site.

The trade credits are only for when you request a game, not when you send one. It's a great service if you don't like having a bunch of $60 new retail games lying around your house collecting dust and losing value. To be able to trade that game for another @ $4.xx($2 shipping, $1 Mailer and $1 for the trade credit when your turn comes up) with a little shipping effort is totally worth it to me.

I just signed up recently and I haven't gotten anything yet because I've been building up points, but I've traded away about 5 or 6 games. Games that aren't worth selling on ebay or anything but net me about 100 to 200 points a piece. Not bad considering I could get a new 360 game for the price of 4 shitty PS1 games.

Goozex is pretty cool..Haven't had any problems yet...

Here are the games i've gotten so far...

Mario Party 8
Battalion Wars 2
Blue Dragon
Sim City DS
Monster Hunter Freedom 2
Jam Session DS
Battles of Prince of Persia DS
Mario vs Donkey Kong 2 Ds

I usually just trade games i get from clearance...Since most of my games are new, i've gotten a couple of 50point tips I have about 1200 points left in my account & saving it for future titles...

Goozex is fantastic. I've gotten 39 games so far with no problems, and 3 more are on their way. At a buck a game (plus the shipping costs you pay when sending games out) it's easily the best deal I've ever had thanks to CAG. I've even gotten a few rare games (the rarest being Tomba! for PS1, which usually goes for around 50 bucks).

If you're a collector it sucks though, as there's no option for "sealed". But I think games are for playing, so I love it.

1. Do the games generally come complete?
2. Is it something that you can request to at least be complete w/case & manual.

I can get real anal about having a complete set. I have read how people get sealed games from time to time and I would be one of those who would be sending out sealed games but I don't want to request a game and have it show up in a plastic sleeve.

3. What do newer games generally run points wise? (i.e Mass Effect, AC, Burnout Paradise)

Just wanted to thank those so far that have been able to answer my questions.

You can request Complete. Disk/Manual, or Disk Only.
Same point cost for each.

Most a game will run is 1000 points.
New releases, and rare games.

I'm sorry, I mistyped the way the point exchange works. It's the other way around.
Goozex is great. Definitely give it a shot and if you don't like it, then quit. And yes, if you don't care about the condition you can request "Disc Only" and if you want a full version then you can choose "Disc, Manual, and Case."

FWIW, I've received several sealed games.
Always a nice surprise.

I've sent several out as well, getting the 50pt feedback bonus.

1. Are there any random promotions that would benefit me of waiting to get a better deal when signing up?

Yeah, sometimes there are promo codes which users can enter and receive bonus trading points (once there was get 5 trade and 100 points for signing up, now it's only 1 trade and 100 points)

2. What are the specified shipping timeframes?? (i.e Half.com's shipping policy when you are a seller.)

The "seller" decides whether to ship between 1 and 3 business days. Other than that, the type of postage they buy is their choice.

3. How does the overall process work? I know you pay to pick a game but what is the full purpose of the points?

There are two types of points. There are trades credits and goozex points.

Trade Credits - 1 Credit = 1 Dollar - You use 1 trade credit each time you get a game (it's how Goozex makes their money because you need to buy these)

Goozex Points - 100 points= $5 - This is the actually points that you will pay with to another user for a game that you have requested. You can buy these, but you can also trade your games and get points that way.

4. Why have points period if you have to pay for the trade anyways?

Trade Credits cost only $1 each, and Goozex needs a way to make money. Remember, trade credits go to Goozex, while Goozex points go to other users.

I've traded around 5 of my games and received 6 games. Some of the games take a while to get, but are usually worth the wait. Hope I helped.

You can't trade points for money to Goozex, but I imagine you could sell your Goozex points for money. Let's imagine that someone had 1000 points and someone else wanted 1000 points. Instead of buying them from the site for $50, the points buyer could send the seller an imaginary game worth 1000 points and the buyer could write him a check. The one dollar trading fee would still apply, but at least the post office doesn't make any money.

Of course a simpler way of transferring points would be to simply sell the user name password. Can you change your address in Goozex?

This thought experiment comforts me against the fear that I'll be stuck with a bunch of points that I can't redeem for anything I want. I just signed up to get rid of Need For Speed Pro Street. How long am I going to have to wait for Orange Box? Should I just buy it at Target this week?

It's great for clearing out older stuff that holds no trade value in stores - I've traded a bunch of random older stuff for 100-300 points, and used it to pick up some older items I missed out on.

Here is what I have gotten from Goozex since Jan 1st.

(The) Sims: Life Stories
BioShock (Limited Edition)
Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening Special Edition
Heavenly Sword
Resistance: Fall of Man
God of War
Super Mario Galaxy
Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles
Mass Effect
Halo 3 (Collector's Edition)

That would never work since you cant pick who you want to be set up with.

How does paying for shipping work? If you are shipping it, do you have to pay for it? That would make shipping 100 point games almost pointless. Or does the other person pay for shipping? If so, how would that work?

you have to pay for shipping the game from your library thats been requested by other users. its also not pointless, it only costs around $2.50 to ship a game.

I just signed up with your referral link :)

I joined Goozex recently. I've already completed several trades, and everything has gone well. Check out the forums, because there is some good advice. For instance, if you print your shipping labels through Paypal, delivery confirmation only costs 18 cents. Also, buy your bubble envelopes in bulk from Sam's or on ebay. They end up costing only around 20 to 30 cents.

One last thing. March is free trade month, so you don't have to pay $1 when you receive a game :).

unless you found a game that had not been requested or placed in anyone's library yet. just randomly looking through the games i found fifa street 3 for DS that showed none available and none requested.

The one thing that bothers me about Goozex is that you can't ask about the condition of the items before they get shipped to you. If someone sends me a complete game, but the manual's been chewed and the disk looks like it spent a day in the highway, what can I do about it?

The disc only option is great. I had a bunch of crappy games lying around that no one would've given me anything for so I put them up as disc only and used the goozex envelopes you can print. 50 cent shipping is definitely worth 100-200 points. I've also gotten rid of some other stuff I had disc only that no one on here would've given me anything for and I got zelda wii and mua gold. Not bad for stuff that's been sitting on my tradelist for the past year and a half

I'd say look at the trader's feedback and check the comments. It would probably give you a good indication of the quality of the stuff they send out. Also, if the game is unplayable, Goozex will refund your points.

EDIT: I did have someone PM me and ask a couple questions about a game before I sent it out.

All Goozex is good for is unloading crappy, worthless games and getting newer games.

Otherwise, GameTZ.com is better in my opinion. You make your own trades, and unlike Goozex, you know the exact condition and it doesn't take forever for the trade to go through.

Well, that's what I want to do at Goozex. Unload my crappy games. :p

I've started to trade tons of stuff at GameTZ... I prefer to talk to the trader BEFORE committing to anything. I dunno, Goozex seems too impersonal.
