History Channel: Civil War

CAGiversary!
Updated: It appears this game is a 1st person shooter

Now I'm not sick of WW2 shooters, but I know some people that are. This is just about the only other war they could make a game out of. (Not WWI= WW2 with crappier guns, already have done the Vietnam War and Gulf War, and no revolutionary war either)

It ships 11/16/06, I don't know about paying full price for it, but it is 49 compared to 59. So if this thing gets good reviews I'm buying it. Also what the fuck, the History Channel makes games?

You got that outta OXM, but yeah that does sound exciting

Actually, I don't read OXM. That was my initial reaction when I saw the game on gamestop.com. Seriously, I don't see how fun a gun game with muzzle loading rifles can be exciting.

ohh... well that's what they said about a game like this back in April I think... but, I just wanna see some gameplay

Hey, I'd actually like to be wrong because it looks like it could be an interesting game but they if it is a shooter then they have to do one of two things. Either they have to shorten the reloading time (which kind of defeats the purpose of slapping the "History Channel" name on the fron of the box) or make long reload times which takes away the excitement of it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not crticizing you but rather the feasibility of a civil war based shooter.

The History channel has put out a few games here and there. Though I really think that this is their first foray into console games. Either way, I know if I got this for my partner, he'd probably want to play it on my 360 all the time lol

Also, as for gameplay, if its anything like their other Civil War games, its a strategy game

I seriously hope not, I'd like a break from the WW2ish scene

They should make reloading your gun a minigame, and your hands get shakier (it's harder to load) when it's a bigger threat, and they should give you a knife for close combat... OH SHIT, this would make an awesome Wii game.

They had lever action repeating rifles, revolvers, gatling guns, and bayonets too. :bouncy:

Yeah, how many troops actually got to use those though?
Gen. Custer sure as hell didn't... heh
LOL, yeah but that was after the Civil War, he got fucked up by Native Americans for trying to take gold on their ancestors burial grounds

I wouldn't mind puttin' a hurtin' on some secesh. Hopefully you can alter the timeline by really embarrassing them, thus making it a major faux pas to wear confederate flag-laden apparel in modern times. The south will not rise again.

A little late on the backup, but...

QFT!

Poke the ball down twice , with the steel rod , for better accuracy !

Maybe Cliffy was right , Active Reload will be the feature in GOW that is copied .

I saw the box for this today at TRU , it made me do a double-take .

there wont be any 30 second reloads, they were taken out for obvious gameplay purposes. think call of duty 2, in a civil war setting. with less polish of course.
