Very nice haul, MM6 is the only one I'm missing in my collection.

I read in the paper the other day, some old man picked up some shirts fro the GW and one of the shirts had $2000 in the front pocket. He gave the money back.

I can't wait till I can drive and just go to pawnshops and Goodwill, I found a few sealed SNES games last time I went. It's too bad they were sports games.

That was nice of him. I mean, think about it- the shirt (and most likely other goods) were dontated to goodwill. the goodwill people priced it, shipped it, stocked it, and sold it. Technically, doesn't that make it (arguably) legally his?

Well, I think that the technicality is that they were selling him the shirt, but not necessarily all of it's contents? I'm not sure...I bet if he wanted to, he could probably have made off with it...but it was good of him to return it...even though that doesn't guarantee it will find it's rightful owner again. Oh, well.

Anyway, Goodwill can be a goldmine sometimes. Definately worth dropping in from time to time, as you never know what you might find...

I would've kept the money and spent it on porno.

I mean, I would've given it back... yeah.

wow i hope the top managers in that district enjoy their bonuses...goodwill is corrupt.

$2000 in the pocket would be pretty obvious wouldn't it? Assuming it wasn't 2 $1000 bills. Even 20 $100 bills would make quite a bulge. If it wasn't a check (as someone above guessed) then it smells very fishy.

Actually, I am in law school, and I have my Property exam this coming Monday, so I may be able to shed a little light on this. Laws vary from state to state, but generally speaking the concept of finders is that if you are a finder, you have title to what you find above everyone except the true owner (the original owner of the $2000). The shirt was donated to the Goodwill store, meaning that title of the shirt was transfered to the store, but not the money hidden inside it (it was "mislaid" by the original owner). Since you in good faith bought the shirt (bought it legally), title to the shirt has transferred to you, and since you found the money, unless the original owner finds out about it and can prove that it was theirs, it belongs to you.

For those of you considering law school one day, this is the kind of stuff that you do.

I don't think I could give it back.

That was my first time ever going to Goodwill, and I found a pretty good haul. Yard Sales are even better though, a lot of N64 games at yardsales as of late.

As a ex-Goodwill employee I agree with you. The people at the one I worked at had no idea what the value on items were so it was YMMV on rather or not they even got things right. I had customers complain to me often about items that they could get at Wal-Mart cheaper (which in some cases was true).

I'm so glad to be away from that fucking dirt hole. I still stop by every so often, but I haven't bought anything in eons partly because I never see anything good - and if I ever do, its way too fucking expensive. I mean $14.99 for LOTR: RotK 2 disc DVD... with disc 1 STOLEN out of it?

Congrats. The Goodwill I used to work at would of charged $4.99 each on those.

$2000 cash. How this didnt fall out during the wash that I assume goodwill provides to donated clothes is crazy. Should be able to look it up at Milwauke Journal Sentinal if you don't belive. I got a three piece suit at good will 2 years ago. Some1 must have went to prom and gave it away. SCORE!
